  • Installing a TB Cam on a 2019 Honda Grom
    -This is a TB Cam from DH Motoring, they also programmed my ECU work with the cam which also sets the rev limiter to 10,000 rpms

    Nice. You keep your stuff clean!
    I also do All my work on a concrete floor; a dozen bikes and no lift in my garage. Cool that you save rotating weight with the new cam. Now, let's see some wheelies!!

      Frederick Woods hahah wheelies I’m still working on. That was my buddies garage, best setup I’ve ever seen. He’s got ac in there! Felt so good!

    Frankie don't want no "serious problems". lol

    You can fish the chain out with a magnet if it falls back into the crankcase. Not a big problem.

      Tyler Tango robs a little from the bottom end but the top end that you gain is worth it!

    Zip-tie the timing chain to the sprocket using one of the small holes and not only do you not lose your timing chain into the crankcase, but the chain is held in place on the sprocket for TDC...no guessing. Also, just back-out the chain tensioner nut as far as possible without taking it out completely.

      I love having the cam. It’s still riding like a champ!

      @@FrankiesWorld Cool! I'm living in the land where Grom's are produced and here they're called MSX. I'm currently getting my MSX upgraded with a 57mm piston (148cc) kit, a N2 (MN8) cam which opens the valves a little more for a little longer duration and a 170cc injector. Parts were a total of $68 and my local mechanic is installing everything for about another $20. Afterwards, if needed, I can get a professional ECU flash (on the bike programming) for $15. The whole deal (if it works...lol) is just over $100US.

      @@FrankiesWorld It's all done and the bike screams...for a MSX (Grom)...LOL. I call it the Bumble bee because it's Yellow and Black and buzzes (racing cam ticking) going down the road. BTW, I had to go with a 150cc (PCX) injector (6 hole "G") because the 170cc (8 hole "W") injector was just too much fuel. I bought a perfect used Noi seat here for $15 shipped and my friend bought a new one here just like yours for $35 new...it's my favorite seat now. Neither are the Gel model.

      @@molonlabe9602 haha that’s awesome!! Glad it worked out for you. When I first installed my cam my fuel millage went down, until I broke the cam in after riding a few times. Now that it’s all dialed in with the tune it’s perfect. It sounds different too because of the different valve adjustments as well. Have fun and be safe!

    I noticed I have a whooshing sound from my intake after the cam. I set my valves to 3 and 3 as recommended by DHM but may try 3 in and 4 out.

    • @FrankiesWorld
      @FrankiesWorld  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I kept mine at 3 and 3. Once you break it in after a few rides mine sounded normal and felt better. Especially the gas millage I noticed went down drastically at first until it was broken in as well.

    Hey I accidentally took out the cam tensioner and when I put it back in it now ticks when started

    • @duskomeic9663
      @duskomeic9663 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ride it slowly until it fills back up with oil. It will fill up its self. I did the same thing and was searching everywhere for the right way of doing it. I turned on the bike and tilted it to the left. Works fine now.

    @tjmooney4181 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey again do you recommend this cam upgrade? My bike is mainly for wheelies with an 8 up rear 1 down front sprocket.

    • @FrankiesWorld
      @FrankiesWorld  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heck yea! So keep in mind, if you get the cam from DH motoring they sell the cam with the ecu flash for the cam. You’ll need the flash. You will gain more top end but you will also lose a little from the bottom. Make sure you have it installed correctly by someone who has tons of experience working on bikes and doing valve adjustments. As you can see here, I’ve done a couple valve adjustments before but not enough to where I felt confident enough to do it on my grom.

      @@FrankiesWorld right on i think ill hold off for now as my grom is mostly used offgrid and off road so top end isnt used very often

    • @FrankiesWorld
      @FrankiesWorld  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tjmooney4181 there you go. You don’t need it, in your case possibly a gear sprocket change to give you more bottom end..in my case I needed the cam because I live in an area where we have a lot of straight roads and the speed limits are 50 on average.

    • @FrankiesWorld
      @FrankiesWorld  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the higher rpm’s heck yeah it is. However, it does rob from the bottom end. You also have to have your bike tuned so it utilizes the cam so the bike runs richer in the higher rpm’s. My tune allows me to reach 10k rpm’s, all though I have only gotten it to 9700.

    • @grominwithrob1339
      @grominwithrob1339 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you did a kitaco clutch cover and oil spinner delete with a cam you will notice a substantial loss of low to mid range rpm. Once you hit about 6k the bike will pull hard. I highly recommend stiffer clutch springs and spring plate. I increased my springs by 15% and I get slipping in 2nd and 3rd if I’m riding hard. Wish I would of went stiffer when I did it like everyone recommended. I thought I’d be fine since I don’t do any stunting. I was very wrong. 😂
