If the maker is up for fair criticism; there's a reason for that, and it has to do with the player character being featured. And before I get my head bit off let me say this: I think the video itself is amazingly well made and it is very much a work of art. However... to my other point: The inclusion of the player character is honestly what hurts the viewership in this case. FF14 is an MMO; people play with their own character and so when they see other people's characters in cutscenes/videos/etc, it's harder to identify with and connect to that content because they don't directly know or support said player/character. That's just unfortunately how the human ego works. In my personal case, every time I see the player character, it's not mine, and it pulls away from the video's quality because my brain is trying to replace that character with my own because that was my experience in those cutscenes. It's not intentional, it just happens, and it pulls my attention away from the narrative of the video in what is otherwise key moments. Use of a less distinctive character, or NPC character would prevent that from happening. That being said, this is a maker making of their own wishes and expression, and to that degree the video is amazing well made.
