Inside the John Wayne: An American Experience Exhibit & The John Wayne Grit Series in Fort Worth, TX

Today Ethan Wayne takes us to the 10,000 square foot JOHN WAYNE: AN AMERICAN EXPERIENCE museum in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards, Texas for a weekend of celebrations and activities all benefiting the John Wayne Cancer Foundation (JWCF). Inside the museum, Ethan shares stories of his life with his father on their boat the Wild Goose, on location for The Cowboys (1972), and at home in Newport Beach, CA.
In addition to John Wayne’s legacy in film, Ethan shares John Wayne’s continuing legacy in searching for the cure for cancer. “When he was in bed, sick and dying, he looked up at his kids and said, ‘Use my name to fight cancer.’ And that’s what we’ve tried to do the last 44 years.” - Ethan Wayne.
Over Veterans Day weekend 2023, the fundraising activities included:
The John Wayne Grit Series 5K in the Fort Worth Stockyards, the Ford F-250 Duke 68 replica giveaway with Sparks Motors, Diesel Dave and Robby Layton which raised over $150,000 for JWCF, and a celebration for the funding of the Big Cure Project / Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

I enjoyed a few of his movies but my dad loved them all. Now that I am older and my father is gone I enjoy watching John Wayne movies to sort of open up that connection of me and my dad watching his movies. A legacy perhaps most don't realize they may give to others when making films perhaps. So thankful for his movies now.
