    I remember playing the getaway black monday on ps2 as a child and spent most of my time looking for and riding the daytona on it. 15 years later i have been riding for 10 years and ride litre bikes but still have an old daytona as my dream bike

    Always wanted one and finally found one a few months ago, pristine 04 in yellow with less than 3000 on the clock. Love the thing, as you said its got that super bike look and its aged better than most from the era, it's still a real head turner even today and sounds great with an after market end can. Moved up from and 650 v twin like you, so much bike for the money if you can deal with not having all the modern driver aids :)

    • @MindfulMotorcyclist
      @MindfulMotorcyclist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for commenting. I agree it's lovely looking thing and has a bit of unique quality to it especially when compared to the Japanese 600s. The engine is based on a Kawasaki design and so they are fairly reliable with the exception of electrics 😂. You should be good with just 3k on the clock. I found the 600 a perfect step up from the 650, not too much power but a nice jump up from the 'beginner big bike' the ER6F... I hope you get on well with her and if any questions let me know I'll try to answer 😊

    I owned one in back in 2007
    It was a 2003 model
    Cost me £4k at the time
    I was only 23 years old
    Absolutely the best bike
    Fast , sounds great , & looked amazing.
    Although everyone laughed at me in aces cafe. Which was a bit mean.
    The handling was so much better than my previous bike , which was a 2001 52 plate 600 GSXR Movistar when I was 21 😳
    I never liked the gsxr much
    Looked good , but terrible handling .
    I’d like to own a Daytona again
    But I’d never have the balls to get on a bike again, at least not very often.
    Fair weather , short rides only if I did.

      Hi Charlie, thanks for the comment here. To have a Daytona at 23 that must have been great fun what colour was it? They are indeed amazing handling bikes, cannot disagree with that. They have also aged very well in my opinion and still look good today (I saw one that someone had fitted with angel eyes- wow!). Thanks for sharing!

      @@MindfulMotorcyclist it was yellow , no British flag decals for me ,
      I remember when I bought it , the garage said I was to young to test ride it , so he took me out as a pillion , & I bought it there & then.
      One reason I bought it was because the insurance was half that of a R6 or 600 gsxr. £1400 a year insurance for the Daytona , vs about £2800 when I owned the gsxr.
      I must say it did have Pirelli Diablo tyres which were fantastic but I kept getting punctures.
      & one thing I loved was the mirrors, just the right size so you can actually see what’s behind you.
      I haven’t seen the angel eyes yet,
      I’m not massive fan of mods, but each to their own, luckily I never had any parts fail on me, it was very reliable .
      Which is something I’ve heard the bike suffers with .
      Anyhow I wish you luck on the channel
      Safe riding

    I seen one off these for sale it's a 03 model with only 4300 miles and quite cheap so I'm tempted, not the best looking bike about but extremly rare i believe

    • @MindfulMotorcyclist
      @MindfulMotorcyclist  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mark, that's very low mileage. I personally think they were ahead of the time in looks department. I mean the angular lines are still popular in sport bikes today. Be warned that while there's quite a few complete bikes up for sale the panels are VERY hard to find now and expensive so I would get one that is tip top cosmetically, red is my favourite colour (probably yours too Man U haha) but I think most prefer yellow. Silver is not that popular. Check the indicators and other electrics work as that is a sign of a corrosion in the wiring loom and not that easy to fix. The 600 is a little flat in the mid range compared to the r6, Zx6r etc but if you can find a 650 (2005 only) then you're flying 😉. Good luck 👍

      They are superb fun and handle like a dream once you get proper tyres on there. A lot seem to be run on a budget given the market value of them at the moment they are fitted with cheaper sport touring tyres. I put continentals on mine and man it made a huge difference. Great handling little bike and sounds fantastic.

    I have one, I have to build it back together. I m glad to see someone else riding one. I think that these bikes were a little bit behind the other bikes of the time and in a odd transition for triumph. I kinda wished they kept with an in line 4. Don't get me wrong I enjoy my street triple, but that I4 engine note is pretty good

    • @MindfulMotorcyclist
      @MindfulMotorcyclist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice to hear from another Daytona owner 😊. I'm really looking forward to the summer and to enjoy it a bit more. Yeah it sounds amazing (I had a parallel twin before) and they are great value, but still the street triple is something I'd look to own or experience one day. The Daytona 650 seems to be quite sought after with a little more mid range and an improved gear box, 05 only tho. Maybe a stepping stone between the 600s and the triples.

    Looking at one this week with 4k miles on it 2003 yellow. Seriously considering it. Are they reliable at all? heard a lot of people had problems with them.

    • @MindfulMotorcyclist
      @MindfulMotorcyclist  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Patrick, sorry for the delayed reply, I was off over Christmas. Well 4000 is certainly low mileage for this model, yellow seems to be the favourite even over the red. Silver is much less common and I think less desirable. I would check that all the lights and indicators work, as any failure there will likely be the main loom corroded. Similarly check you can get it into gear, the box on the 600 is a little bit tricky to find neutral but you should be able to get the hang of it. If you look at my Project 650 videos you will see what can go wrong with them... I had bought a rough one that hadn't been looked after to restore... Thanks!

      You’ll either get a good one or a bad one. It’s worth moving the rectifier/regulator as they can get a bit warm sometimes and I wouldn’t recommend redlining it until it’s properly up to temperature or you may get some undesired lumpy responses.

    • @MindfulMotorcyclist
      @MindfulMotorcyclist  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's the thing that worries me about mine, you can wrap her up in cotton wool and do all the right things and if you're unlucky parts can just fail. I have a 650 now and it's a great bike but I do think about it's longevity! Especially as parts are hard to come by. It's not a bike that will 'run and run' to use the phrase
