    The problem is, if you are getting use to a one type of sight and you change it to another, you will feel that's something wrong, so you have to stick to just one sights design for all of your guns

      Exactly what I was going to say. Both guns need to be the same sight. Especially worth your carry. Life and death is more than a trophy

    Thanks for the video. I have been on the fence about getting the Big Dot sights. Strangely enough your video has helped me decide to get the Big Dots. I don't shoot competition. I just want better sights than my standard Glock sights for EDC, and as you put it, the XS sights are "more like combat sights" which is what i want in an EDC sight. Plus i'm pushing into my 60's and my eyes ain't what they use to be so i think the Big Dots will help. Again, thank you for posting this and good luck with your competition shooting.

    If you are cross eyed dominant, meaning you shoot right-handed but are left eye dominant, the I-dot sights are excellent as you don't have a plane shift.

    I stick to standard 3 dot or blacked out rear. It standardizes the aiming between all of my handguns.

    Once heard a very skilled trap shooter explain why luminescent sites are not good. He basically said that they draw your eye to the sight and not the target. That was 20 years ago but it always stuck with me.

      When shooting a shotgun your focus should be on the target BUT when shooting a pistol or a rifle your focus should be on the front sight.

      I looked at new Ameriglo orange style Agent sights for my used Glock 41 gen 4 .45 model. I chose the larger Tru Glo TFX pro orange. They were on sale: $103 + free S-H. 📦 . I had a gun shop add the TFX pro sights. My only - so far is the front post has a slight wiggle, not firm like the rear posts. I saw 1 gun channel youtube host say a drop or 2 of Lock tite Blue can steady these Tru Glo Glock sights. The sight picture is bright but I'm concerned with long term carry, damage.

    Shot a competition with XS sights. Sillouette hits were fine but trying to aim for a 3inx3in size target or the hostage taker target was impossible. I couldn't figure out where to put the dot... Lower or higher, impacts we're off. I'd just use any traditional sights instead.

    • @JanO209

    • @JanO209
      @JanO209 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@MrGunnerru According to the instructions and people who use XS dot sights, you have to cover your target with the dot, almost like using an over sized red dot sight. Obviously you'll be obscuring a small target using that technique but that's not what those sights are meant to do. They're meant to quickly and reliably put rounds on a man sized target. They exist to prevent the typical case of "find the front sight" or "find the red dot".

    you’re replacing the wrong sights... stick with the XS Big or Standard Dot sights! for both speed and horizontal target acquisition... and intuitive night alignment... not to mention being able to rack the slide with a decent back sight profile... they are the BEST! i have them on all my handguns and couldn’t be happier. its way more natural to align the iDot than center one dot between two dots :)

    I’ve got my glock 17 stipples and undercut as well. Although I don’t have another glock to compare side by side I’ve heard from others that the undercut actually slightly changes your grip resulting in a change to where your sights normally line up. Could be the cause of you getting better with one gun the more you use it and worse with the other. Just a thought

    The big dot sights are better imo, 3 dot post sights block your vision of the target on the left and right side, while the big dot is more like a red dot giving you higher visibility on both sides of the target. 3 dot sights actually block your vision of the target fairy significantly. And its easier to line up 2 dots rather than 3 dots, thats pretty self explanatory, Less is more in this case, But to each his own.

    You have made a very point not normally recognized or talked about with those of use with more than one gun. I carry the G19 as well as G26 GEN 4s. As these two have very much the same grip, switching EDC is never a problem. UNLESS they have totally different targeting system. The sights don't have to be the same, but should allow easy transition. GOOD VIDEO and POINT. Target competition sights don't always make good defensive sights as earlier pointed out here.

  • @Miketheneck

    The XS sight was designed for battle combat etc. Place the ball on target and squeeze the trigger not for precision shooting.

  • @vetgamer1320

      I know what you're saying but it's the same gun and same guy holding them. Learning where your front sight is in space is proprioception. When you have two different styles of sights that line up differently, its slows that down. You have to retrain it everytime.

    • @brockedandloaded6034
      @brockedandloaded6034  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a training issue. At least not realistically. I'm sure if you had mounds of ammo and unlimited instruction you could get to the point where you can pick up different sighting systems and run them without hesitation, but that tiny half of a second for my brain to identify the types of sights I have is the problem here. Obviously in the video I stated I could shoot them an problem. It was the transition back and forth that I didn't like. In competition it slowed me down a split second and my carry gun slowed me down a split second. Much those split seconds matter.

      I just put the XS Big dots on both my 19 and 17, and definitely within 10-15 yards it shouldn't be a problem if you actually try to practice and get decent with them. I can make 50 yard shots now with them but it took me a little bit to get used to it.
      They are fast, but part of me almost wonders if I should have got the XS F8s instead, because they still seem fast but seem to also have precision as well. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side haha.
      One major plus for the Big dots is I can actually see my sight picture without my glasses on. So far with all other sights I've tried, I couldn't do that. So for that reason alone, I'll probably stick with the Big dots and just train with them.
      Realistically the vast majority of self defense situations were under 10 yards, and I do believe the big dots are faster within those tighter distances.

      YEP to the above. I have had a weapon being drawn on me twice. The first time was an armed robbery at a convenience store as I exited. I was being asked for money repeatedly and followed. Told the guy to back away and he placed ONE hand in his jacket AND his eyes did a quick look to my left and back. I had done some scanning but every nerve in my body felt lit and I was holding onto my gun under my jacket and almost out of the holster. When I looked quickly to my left to find the 2nd guy and came back to the one in front of me his gun was half out of his jacket. I thrust mine out and screamed, "SHOW ME YOUR HANDS". He put the gun back and put his hands out. I NEVER saw the sights. I didn't need them from 8-10 feet. I did have time slow as I worked out what I was going to do if he raised the gun as well as checked if I still had the building of the convenience store behind him AND also wondered if there were cameras and thought to myself "Shoot if he does not drop the gun back into his pocket".
      With the carjacking I was pinned in before I stopped the engine (forgot to always back into a spot) and I exited after about 20 seconds of waiting and tossing my dome light on to show the guys (4) that I was armed with my weapon pointing up from my shoulder. Two exited with guns a moment after I did as I got behind the engine block. I lit them up (I do hope everyone knows to have at least one flashlight if you carry) with 1000 strobing lumens and both tried to cover their eyes with arms crossing and I then saw the guns in each ones hand. Never saw the sights. I kept my eyes on the threat and judged their capacity to act. I also noted the neighborhood behind them as every bullet fired comes with a lawyer. Maybe I would have gone to the sights if I was to shoot more than 4-6 times a month and about 1000 rounds. But what is going on beyond the sights in "their circle" is more important for me to take-in before I can make a decision to shoot. I probably could have fired both times. I've taken 70 hours of combat handgun with a Air Marshal who trains his men, and with a SWAT Team leader. Both have stated that if you are reacting you are trying to get the shot off first and moving, and we also practiced point shooting as it is quite unlikely we will need a surgical hit that misses a hostage. A first shot between the nipples and throat will do a lot to help us win because the bad guy is not mentally prepared to be shot. You had better be because he who gives up, dies.
      Perhaps if you are shooting at Grand Master level in competition and the sights are embedded into your shooting you might look at them and even through them IF you are already in motion where you know you are firing. But for we mere mortals, I did exactly what a Federal Agent/Trainer and a SWAT officer said I would do. I looked at the threat to access my right to shoot. If you are fixated on the sights (but you won't be) you might miss that he drpopped the gun, but the camera didn't. Then whatever the policy of your DA, and whether he is up for re-election and who you shot, might be what determiners your fate before a Grand Jury.
      If you are carrying and have not gotten at least one all day class with 500+ rounds fired, I will dare say you are doing yourself a poor service as well as your loved ones. A good number of guys I know have said "I would have unloaded the whole magazine into them". None have had formal training from qualified law enforcement or combat vets. The right answer is, "Glad you didn't have to shoot them". If you know a criminal defense lawyer, which I do, he'll explain that you do not want to shoot someone even in a Castle State if you can let them walk away.

      While this does work, I have done some experimenting at extremely close ranges with a timer. I really wish I had my results on me right now, but I'm half a world away. Anyway there's a way to draw and present known as a flash sight picture. You keep both eyes open, and you keep both eyes on the threat but you present your pistol into your line of sight and basically shoot it like a shotgun. Side note this is also why I think shotguns are so awesome for home defense. As soon as you see your front sight on the target you pull the trigger. I did several five-shot strings, that's five draw present fire on a Target at 5 yards. I did the shoot between the two guns method, I shot from the hip, and a shot with a flashlight picture. Typically the flash sight picture was 1/10 , to a 20th of a second faster. You heard that right faster. Also shooting from the hip I missed one of the targets. Accuracy taking a flash sight picture was about a fist-sized group middle of the target. And I will tell you this when you start going that fast, your brain is doing things that you're not consciously aware of. Like picking up that front sight. I've experienced this hunting I've experienced it shooting skeet, and I've experienced it doing fast work with pistols on the Range. You go through the action so fast, and so much of it is just pure muscle memory that you don't actually notice what you're doing. But if you pay attention you're still doing it. The two guns method works by the way, but not out past about 10 yards. I haven't owned a set of XS Big dots yet, and I'm not sure I will, but I believe that the idea of the flash sight picture is what they're aiming for here. They're giving you a very large very noticeable front sight that is unobscured by the rear blade to give you the best chance of picking it up and getting on target quickly. Let me rephrase keeping both eyes on the target placing the site in your line of sight and then firing was both faster and more accurate / more reliable then uname fire at 5 yards. Now for my caveat, from my personal experience granted on firing ranges, and some of the training I received, I would not level that gun any closer than 5 yards. Inside of about 10 ft you're inside weapons retention range, and what I mean by that is you're so close that in fractions of fractions of a second that attacker could have his hand on your gun. So it contact distances I practice inside five realistically I would say inside three yards I shoot from the hip. No I'm not recommending anybody do that, but if those rangers you absolutely do not need to see your gun and rather you shoot from the hip, shoot from Center of your chest, you need to keep that gun pulled back because if you extend it it's going to get levered away from you. Also inside those ranges you absolutely do gain speed by not extending your weapon, up to a tenth maybe even a 25th of a second depending on your individual speed and skill level. At least that's my observations using the exact same Target on a timer and different techniques. Also working with other people to do these experiments.

      @Dahamp2003 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carl Andrews It's a little different than a regular backstrap, because it only comes down about 2/3 of the way. I may make a video explaining it. It actually fills the void sort of right in the cut it part of the grip, so that it makes the grip feel more like a 1911 angle. I had a screw put in my wrist, so the sharp glock angle where it kind of tweaks your wrist forward is pretty uncomfortable. Feels awesome with the Grip Force Adaptor. Also, the pronounced V helps to find a proper grip when drawing with speed. May not be for everyone, but everyone that has used it loves it.

No adjustments are further possibile because I already reached the maximum level of adjustment. Now I'm asking this comunity if someone knows this issue? I'm considering to bring back on the gun the original front sight because it is much closer to the gun, in the hope that I'll be able to gain some adjustment credit on the rear sight. Thank You. Pretty much exactly like the HDs, but 70ish dollars. And no sharp edge on the back. If you need any info about the HDs, just ask. The Orange IMO is better, because you're right. The Yellow/green tends to wash out just a tad in brightly lit backgrounds. The Orange is a natural contrast in dark and light.

    @BananaSpinach 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    This is wrong thinking. Be a student of weapon craft in general. What if you have to use a “battlefield pickup” one day? Are you going to cry because it doesn’t have your favorite sights on it? Marksmanship fundamentals are what matters most. You should be combat accurate with any type of sights.

    • @brockedandloaded6034
      @brockedandloaded6034  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's funny, because "combat accurate" was never my goal. Supreme accuracy and speed is. I'm perfectly fine picking up a dirty AK and getting hits at 300 yards. We're talking about splitting the hair here. If I'm buying guns, there's really no reason if I'm going to be shooting then a lot to have different sight systems on them for no reason. Doesn't mean i can't use them. Just means I want to be faster.
