The rings around the planet being made of millions of years of dead whales is absolutely insane, and legit one of the coolest ideas I've seen in a long time.
@@5353Jumper It’s an allagory of elephants having preferred places of death. The heard goes there and potentially an adult at the verge of death is left behind and the others migrate to their next destination. Eventually they all come back to die to the same place.
I am sure it will be repeated a thousand times this series, but they have absolutely nailed the casting. Mikkelsen just picked up from Thrawn's voice and brought his silent menace up close.
@imperialoverseer6852 oh I am aware, read all the novels in the 90s and the new ones as well. I meant creating the the little things that was Thrawn on screen. His mannerisms, the tone of his voice, the way he delivers his lines etc... Its one thing to read the books and a whole another to portray a character on screen. When the first time I've seen him in Rebels and Mikkelsen started speaking I had chills running down my spine I was like fuck this is Thrawn...cold, calculating and always in control. Same thing happened yesterday, the moment he opened his mouth I was like pffft this is awesome so glad they offered him the role.

Someone pointed out that the Storm Trooper armor is clearly damaged and repair, like the Japanese method of repairing broken pottery with gold to filling the cracks and bond it back together. Which if you think about it is what Dave Filoni has been doing with Star Wars since the Clone wars
The starship is fitted with gold as well. A lot of theories going around that all or some of the Night Troopers are reanimated using Night Sister magic, kinda like that Inquisitor guy in the earlier episodes. The red band around their armor symbolize the witches, I'm guessing they got that green smoke inside. So much Japanese influence in Star Wars, look at those nomads as well, clearly Samurai inspired armor and weapons.
I think Thrawn hasn't left the planet where he and Ezra arrived because his Star Destroyer is incapable of deep space travel. When he arrives at the tower to greet Morgan we see the back of the Star Destroyer and it's three main engines are damaged and not functioning.
And it looks like they have tried to repair whatever they could, the same way that trooper has the bronze-looking face-plate and other pieces that have been replaced. They have kept the ship able to stay in the air, and inhabitable, if not capable of interstellar let alone intergalactic travel. I think it gives an air of them keeping in order as best they can, under Thrawn's stern command to keep them on track.
This episode was SO good. A great follow up from last episode and seeing the goddamn Chimaera rising onto screen was such a beautiful shot. Plus the blue genius himself walking through the batallion of his troops and dominating the scene.
While I agree with you that I had hoped Thrawn would have forged a mini-empire in this new galaxy…you will notice that when the ISD arrived that the hyperdrive dishes were destroyed. Along with that, they would not have the facilities or knowledge to create fuel to perform interstellar travel and would be rationing their fuel… limiting them to that solar system. Plus Thrawn said their numbers had dwindled over the decade, likely making it harder to orchestrate any sort of empire-building. And any weapons they have would likely need to be rationed as well. In Thrawn’s defense, his concern was likely rebuilding the Chimera, investing effort into all his crew to help them grow but also help them hold onto the hope of a return to their galaxy, rationing ever resource they had, exploring that singular system for resources, and generally staying alive. Bridger was probably a low priority…he wasn’t a threat and only a waste of precious resources to try and locate. If you have your enemy on the run…maybe let them run.
I think the stormtroopers are actually re-animated from death through the night sisters “dark magic” as Thrawn mentions he has to call upon it from the night sisters again. Actually makes sense with their tribal look and the different helmet.
Good analysis and review, Skyman, as always. Just one comment on your comments on Peridia’s landscape and lack of something more spookier… The way I took it, is that we are seeing a barren, empty landscape (other than remaining Sister Monuments) because *something* rid the planet of it’s Night Sister atmosphere and Night Sister Magick things. Baylen comments this very thought, in fact. Then proceeds to insinuate that the Great Mothers are perhaps trying to flee from this greater threat. I mean, why else strike a bargain with someone like Thrawn. Something is coming… and hopefully it will explain everything that has been transpiring.
After 30 years, the Heir to the Empire himself has been seen on screen in the flesh. It honestly is so surreal to me as someone who’s read both the HTTE trilogy, as well as Zahn’s canon novels (which are arguably even better than HTTE imo). That was one of the coldest entrances I’ve EVER seen in Star Wars 🔥🔥🔥. Even for those that haven’t watched Rebels or read the novels, I think this episode did a good job at starting to solidify not only why he is feared, but also how different he is from most Star Wars villains
Remember Ezra was around 14 when Rebels began and 19 when Rebels ended. He would be about 30 in Ahsoka so having his voice a little older and look a little more like his father works, for me anyway. I think it was an easy straight forward trip to Peridea because the almost impossible part was securing the route and speed it takes to get there. I also think Peridea will seem much more ominous and atmospheric if we see it at night and/ or also explore whatever Baylan is referring to perhaps in the depths of the planet or something. On the outside, its like a barren wasteland of a once great civilization but something lurks behind the scenes, a dark force virgence perhaps. The nightsisters desire power as Thrawn can promise them back in the main galaxy so it makes sense they would leave. Beside Thrawn they can shape the galaxy and Empire remnants to their dark will. And as mentioned in the episode, the Nightsisters may also fear a power thats greater than themselves. I think we're just scratching the surface when it comes to Peridea. Lastly, when it comes to Morgan Elsbeth, she was instrumental in the creation of the Imperial Navy so Thrawn and her would have know each other back then. When he was stranded on Peridea he clearly befriended the Nightsisters and with their abilities was able to reach out to Morgan across galaxies, something that would not have been possible otherwise. Thrawn figured out the only way possible to not only rescue them from complete isolation but also a person who had the means to build him the Eye of Sion and a way to return him home in a way that the New Republic would not be ready for. Ahsoka is the wild card though as the Nightsisters could not foresee her actions and will because with Anakin's lesson she has transcended into something greater than even Thrawn could anticipate.
We have to remember that this is set years after Rebels. Ezra would’ve changed n so he will look so different surviving on that planet. At least he didn’t toss his old lightsaber
This is a beautiful moment for a lot of us. To see Timothy's odds were being brought back into Cannon even if it's a little at a time it's phenomenal. I got to meet Timothy Zahn in 1992 add a convention in greenville South Carolina. We gathered in one small room there were only about 10 people who showed up this was about four months after dark force rising came out. Now when he speaks the conventions the place is full. Good for him the man is awesome he's incredibly nice and all of this success could not have happened to a better person😊
I'm always taken back when there are comments downplaying the importance of the apprentice character. Everyone did it during the clone wars commenting that they wanted to see more Anakin and less Ahsoka, and now it seems like those same comments are mirrored with Ahsoka and Sabine. I think we all should've learned our lesson the first time. We should just appreciate every character because of their journey adds to the overall story. That's really the one thing Star Wars has taught me. WHEN the story is good, eventually you appreciate all of the characters and what they all collectively went through. So to cast lines in the sand about certain characters so early into this series feels a little premature.
Hello There, another amazing episode, darn almost forgot, how amazingly big a star destroyer is. Finally we got to see Grand Admiral Thrawn's Grand Appearance. Love your Star Wars posters as well. 😊😊
Unpopular opinion: I like the Thrawn from the books (Timothy Zahn's latest book trilogy in particular - Thrawn, Alliances and Treason) waay more than the version of Thrawn from Rebels and now Ahsoka. I watched Rebels after I read the books and I was a bit disappointed with him, although everyone loves him in Rebels. He was more of an antihero in the books, compared to Rebels where he is a straight up evil villain. In the books he strategizes in such a way that loss of life is minimized, on either side. He will never kill unless there is no other way around it, unlike here. The version from the books makes me sympathize with him all the way. I get it, too much moral ambiguity and complexity was perhaps unnecessary in an animated series made for a younger audience, but now the same version of evil Thrawn is in the Ahsoka series. I wish they would've went with the books version.
I'm quite late, but I just watched ashoka and after that came to see your reactions to feel the "feeling you get from new good star wars/people being enthuastic from the same thing". Love you on both of your channels Fred 🍻

When Thrawn approaches and all of his "Night Troopers" are chanting and you hear some guttural shouting in the background it totally reminded me of the uruk-hai orcs from Lord of the Rings..... I love that!!!!
My bets are the stormtroopers are resurrected undead constructs, as the Nightsisters are well known for using undead for defenses and warfare. The red ribbons wrapped around their armour, and the fact that the stormtroopers' armour where it's been shattered or cracked have been filled in with gold seems ritualistic, and would explain the ominous vibe coming off them. The interesting question is why did the Nightsisters leave their homeplanet originally? It might inform the motivations of the current Nightsisters, as Dathomir might have been a truly holy place for them, so they might wish to reconquer the planet with a ruling power at their back to ensure their safety in the new power structure.
That's twice Dave's done it. These magical moments we didn't realise we needed. First he made grown men cry in Mandalorian S2E8 and now Ahsoka S1E5. I can't wait to see what else he's gonna give us...
I get the feeling, that "This reaks of Jedi" Was the Nightsisters feeling the conflict in Baylan. Wich he confirms in this ep. Sabine, can't connect with the force, so they can not sence her that way. (I would be surpriced if this is not what that ment). I think Baylan will come to that moment, when he realise what Thrawn acually is. He is not the saviour of the Galaxy, he is the "Devil" who will destroy. I will throw this in here, I believe that all the "Storm Troppers" in this ep are the same as what Marrok was.
@@Golfballtauchen What Thrawn says at the end about using the dark magick of the Nightsisters again... then I saw this : th-cam.com/video/qPEdD1cff30/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Qz9WQgBtehFm95nn&t=1345 I do think Enock and Merrek's voices kind of sound simular. @@GalacticAbsurdity The problem with such Videos, most of the time there are wrong. Remember this Inqisitor, from ashoka where everybody thought he was something special, but he was nothing. So in the end, its nice when its true, but its also nice when its not true.

I actually agree with this & I think that Shin Hati will become the equivalent of Assajj Ventress in The Clone Wars. Up to find her own path as a rogue, but turning good.
Moments of levity, the howler being cute, meeting a new species like the turtle things is very star wars to me too. I like it. I like everything in Ahsoka. Best show for me.
The New Republic is way better than the Empire, but it really didn't learn from the previous Republic. That's what Skoll is talking about, along with the stubbornness of the Jedi and Sith.
My guess is Ezra is in hiding and him and Thrawn separated and he's trying to stay alive for now. So he met those little snail people and joined with them. Thrawn was focusing on rebuilding the Star Destroyer and keep an eye on his resources and storm troopers. Until he can have someone else come along and look for Ezra for him. Which he did with Baylen.
I think that they will do some sort of explanation on the planet in the next episode. It could've really been creepier, but I think that the fact that there's no nightsisters left besides those 3 is the main reason for the inconsistency in the planet's atmosphere.
The star destroyer does not have a hyper drive They literally show the back of the ship.. They've been on that planet for the past 10 years they wouldn't be able to go to another star system In that galaxy without the hyper drive.. But maybe Beings have visit them
Your enthusiasm is infectious. I smiled right along with you while watching your reaction. There's no doubt in my mind that there is more going on with this planet. I agree that it would have been nice if the landscape looked creepier or more alien. I'm guessing there's only so much the budget would allow.
The Star Destroyer is highly messed up. If you look at it, it’s fixed up just like the Storm Trooper armor. There’s these giant gold sections. Also the Troopers are referred to as NightTroopers. Many of us think they’re reanimated or being strengthened by the Night Mothers. Hence the red cloth around the troopers. The planet reminded me of the Sith home world from KOTOR. They explained a bit of this in the episode my friend. They will touch on it. The power. Ezra actually sounds like an adult animated Ezra. He’s 9 years older in story. Also he looks like Ezra’s dad from what we saw in Rebels. Like Ezra and Thrawn are 100000% epic casting.
@jamesward-gwilliam9385 I mean his criticisms are valid, but I think the sequels were so bad that when you see any content that doesn't ruin past characters and is heavy on what fans wanted to see, ppl are more forgiving of flaws.
I see it too. Unfortunately he wasn’t wrong on all fronts. I do consider Ahsoka to be the best SW content since Luke’s appearance. But I do believe it relies very very heavily on nostalgia and fan service. But this episode was very good. Baylen and his apprentice are very interesting. I can’t wait to get more on that
Pretty sure with the stormtroopers armor being all broken and repaired, and with the red wrappings like the night sisters wear that when Thrawn says he "once again" needs their dark magic, the other time he needed it was them resurrecting his army, so I believe this is an army of "night troopers" so to speak.
Thrawn didn’t have the resources to build much & it looks like the Storm Troopers are dead & reanimated by the witches with those red ribbons .. I think the were called death troopers…😀
Thrawn's Trooper Captain is named Enoch , thats so cool. Enoch is the man in the Bible who didnt Die but Ascended into Heaven and was promoted to the Angel, Metatron who is The Voice of God on Earth.
I know what this mysterious power is that drives the nightsisters to want to escape their planet and this galaxy as quickly as possible. It's the impending Disney bankruptcy that comes after the strike in Hollywood.
Hey chief. Sorry I haven’t commented sooner, but I enjoy the hell out of your videos, and I am absolutely blown away by this show. It didn’t start well, but it’s certainly ramped up into an “omg what am i actually seeing??” Kind of event. Keep it up, my man. :)
Yeah I hope they do more of the unsettling factor with this new galaxy. The dead whale rings and ancient statues were great, some of the stuff like it being the same species, being populated by very Star Wars-y characters and having an ewok reference made it feel less like a new galaxy but I’m sure it’ll be very interesting to see what baylan and shin get up to there
Skyman, hi, big fan of your passion for SW, how do you think they are going to weave Mandalorian characters and stories into Ahsoka eventually? It would be wild to see Ezra and Grogu interact, Ghost Kanan, Luke and Ezra, Jacen and Luke, Jace and Grogu... possibilities are endless for Feloni's movie bringing it all together.
Loved this episode! Apart from the power characters taking centre stage, I love Baylon Skill as a new character. By far the best addition as a character since Disney
its crazy thinking of the whole concept of Balen and Shin being "Dark Jedi" and not Sith or Jedi in this fight. theyre not rebels or first order or even scoundrels, theyre just "Dark Jedi" and its always been either one or the other Sith or Jedi because the Balance of the Star Wars universe relies on what the Force dictates to be balance and order so even when Balen brought up the cycle of Jedi order falling so the Empire can rise and so on , they are living proof that there can be uncertainty because theyre not completely Sith , their lightsabers arent even Red, their lightsabers are Orange so theyre kinda somewhere in the middle of the conflict, obviously leaning more towards the dark side but with the way their characters are getting focus and their internal conflict , they might even change their minds and join the Light Side at the very end
If you were to tell me wed get The disaster that was Kenobi but also live action Clone Wars and Thrawn with Ezra the very next episode id call you insane but man Dave delivered i cant even imagine what his movies gonna be like.
Are people not aware that Mother Talzin is dead? Ive seen alot of people either think one of the nightsisters we see is talzin or people saying they want to see her in live action
The stuff going on in this is so serious it makes you wonder how Luke wouldn't be involved , but I guess his one purpose and focus is to reestablish the Jedi Order .
Theory: The Night Troopers (as described by CC) have been resurrected by the Great Mothers. Has Thrawn also been resurrected, why would he be the only one left alive if the stormtroopers died? Also, his appearance is dirty and unkept, very much unlike how he's portrayed in past shows/books. I don't know, just a thought.
Thrawn looks the cleanest and I think he was likely one of the few left alive like with Ezra. I would also say that some of his troops are normal but those that died resurrected by the nightsisters and those are the ones with red.
The troopers didn't paint their armor because they were bored. I don't see how you came to that conclusion. The gold parts are repaired like the Chimaera was. These Night Troopers have probably been through a lot, and I think we will see what the Nightsisters are fleeing and what Baylan is sensing in the coming episodes.
Imo R2 is a more likely candidate since he was mostly directly involved in all the events from the Skywalker saga. In one of the early drafts I believe he was responsible for the Journals of the Whills.
@@justjdnl I like to think that the classic centre aligned yellow opening scrawl of the main movies is R2D2 telling the story, and the left aligned red opening scrawl of Ahsoka is Huyang telling the story.

@@Vandar821 He looks awesome, but will probably be killed in the next episode lol
Thrawn & Ezra's introduction scenes were a sight to see!
So what I just realized. Night sisters are now Canonically from another Galaxy and have perfected intergalactic Travel.
Huyang was telling the story of the intro to "STAR WARS EPISODE" ...another GREAT episode!!! The dawn of Thrawn! 2 more cliffhanging episodes to go!!!
I dont think so, this stormtroopers, are the
remaining forces from the star destroyer that are jumped with the wals, I guess.
@@Golfballtauchen What Thrawn says at the end about using the dark magick of the Nightsisters again... then I saw this : th-cam.com/video/qPEdD1cff30/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Qz9WQgBtehFm95nn&t=1345
I do think Enock and Merrek's voices kind of sound simular.
(If you got two answers, like this... I wrote one that I can not see. If not, then thats good).
@@GalacticAbsurdity The problem with such Videos, most of the time there are wrong. Remember this Inqisitor, from ashoka where everybody thought he was something special, but he was nothing. So in the end, its nice when its true, but its also nice when its not true.
@@Golfballtauchen Marrok is the Inqisitor... I never believed anything about "it"... But if Marrok was "raised from the dead" by Morgan, there is a chance that the Stormtroopers are. Much cause of the "repair" cloth or materials. There is a little feeling of zomboidz (Ha ha). I have no clue, what they are. But there is a chance...
What a jolly and humble chap
the way they brought back all the themes and such good casting, filoni fr on top
The Enemy of my Enemy is my friend is a classic quote from outside Star Wars as well :)
I love the music as they are flying to the planets surface
My guess is Ezra is in hiding and him and Thrawn separated and he's trying to stay alive for now. So he met those little snail people and joined with them. Thrawn was focusing on rebuilding the Star Destroyer and keep an eye on his resources and storm troopers. Until he can have someone else come along and look for Ezra for him. Which he did with Baylen.
This brother feels like I did when I saw Thrawn. It was incredible to see him, 30 years after Heir to the Empire. Bliss.
I think that they will do some sort of explanation on the planet in the next episode. It could've really been creepier, but I think that the fact that there's no nightsisters left besides those 3 is the main reason for the inconsistency in the planet's atmosphere.
We're grown men and Star Wars fans, it's ok for us to cry bro! Especially after last episode. But this one was excellent to.
Such a surreal moment man!.
So many new characters, i expected to see a flash on the screen " This episode of Ahsoka is brought to you by HASBRO"
The star destroyer does not have a hyper drive They literally show the back of the ship.. They've been on that planet for the past 10 years they wouldn't be able to go to another star system In that galaxy without the hyper drive.. But maybe Beings have visit them
Rakatans are in this galaxy, power is here for sure, Bailen probably drawn to them
This was an excellent reaction from THOR.😊
Your enthusiasm is infectious. I smiled right along with you while watching your reaction. There's no doubt in my mind that there is more going on with this planet. I agree that it would have been nice if the landscape looked creepier or more alien. I'm guessing there's only so much the budget would allow.
It is conceivable the entire galaxy is so old that it is dead, or was destroyed. The whole last episode was old and young Ahsoka.
Never thought id ever root for the Empire, but im a Thrawn Loyalist Through and Through.
I hope you read this. All those stormtroopers? Night sister ribbons, chanting... Yeah they're all dead men. Smoke in armour.

Mauler did a typical video hating on Ashoka and he actually had the nerve to include your reaction of episode 5. Love your reactions and the show
Reported mauler because of what he was doing to others. His fanbase found out and started harrasing everyone that did.
I can’t wait to get more on that
Saw it too, some valid points but what's with the endless condescendent whining?
@@jackrobertson5801relies heavily on nostalgia? What?... it's literally the continuation of a story called rebels...
Dude, when the camera started to twirl I freaking lost it 😂
Pretty sure with the stormtroopers armor being all broken and repaired, and with the red wrappings like the night sisters wear that when Thrawn says he "once again" needs their dark magic, the other time he needed it was them resurrecting his army, so I believe this is an army of "night troopers" so to speak.
The search for Ezra involved riding space whales into another universe and it's still a better plot arc than the search for Luke
“Still”? Riding space whales to another galaxy is a great search lol
THE KING IS BACK🎉
I know what this mysterious power is that drives the nightsisters to want to escape their planet and this galaxy as quickly as possible.
Your reactions for Star Wars are always the first one I want to watch. Your emotions match mine almost always.
Thanks and cheers!
I like how the show is getting better. I hope it continues this way 👏
Yeah I hope they do more of the unsettling factor with this new galaxy. The dead whale rings and ancient statues were great, some of the stuff like it being the same species, being populated by very Star Wars-y characters and having an ewok reference made it feel less like a new galaxy but I’m sure it’ll be very interesting to see what baylan and shin get up to there
Today will be beautiful (wave the hand) ‘Today will Be beautiful’
Skyman, hi, big fan of your passion for SW, how do you think they are going to weave Mandalorian characters and stories into Ahsoka eventually? It would be wild to see Ezra and Grogu interact, Ghost Kanan, Luke and Ezra, Jacen and Luke, Jace and Grogu... possibilities are endless for Feloni's movie bringing it all together.
Now this is pod racing. In Dave we trust.
That half Alliance half Empire cap is awesome
I really hope we get a 2nd season. This has been some seriously good starwars. It's what I've been missing for such a long time now.
I need a flashback of how Ezra escaped the bridge
what was once a dream is now a frightening reality... seems thrawn was being meta about his appearance in live action. 😄
Ezra looks a lot like his father in Ahsoka, it's nice to see!
Loved this episode! Apart from the power characters taking centre stage, I love Baylon Skill as a new character. By far the best addition as a character since Disney
The engines were damaged. Perhaps they weren't able to leave this planet.
its crazy thinking of the whole concept of Balen and Shin being "Dark Jedi" and not Sith or Jedi in this fight. theyre not rebels or first order or even scoundrels, theyre just "Dark Jedi" and its always been either one or the other Sith or Jedi because the Balance of the Star Wars universe relies on what the Force dictates to be balance and order so even when Balen brought up the cycle of Jedi order falling so the Empire can rise and so on , they are living proof that there can be uncertainty because theyre not completely Sith , their lightsabers arent even Red, their lightsabers are Orange so theyre kinda somewhere in the middle of the conflict, obviously leaning more towards the dark side but with the way their characters are getting focus and their internal conflict , they might even change their minds and join the Light Side at the very end

If there was anyone to have a conterbernium of literal legionnaires it would be Thrawn lmao I love Enoch
She died in a comic, which not everybody has read.
@@magicconchshell yeah but i would expect big star wars fans like him to read the comics
The stuff going on in this is so serious it makes you wonder how Luke wouldn't be involved , but I guess his one purpose and focus is to reestablish the Jedi Order .
got major space hitler vibes on his intro, finally someone who feels like an actual villain, great episode
LETS GO SKYMAN
I have a strong feeling where gonna see a resurrection of Anakin Skywalker for real in this series or a Shocking Cameo appearance of Emperor Palpatine
Huh? How does thrawn look dirty and unkept
Thrawns star destroyer wouldn’t have any hyper space lanes mapped out either in the other galaxy
Who says it's the other galaxy and not him planing his return?
What if Huyang, who is ancient in star wars, is really telling the stories of all of Star Wars to us.
