@@RocketMan_Moto Cheers for the reply RM. Just checked that video out. Will see if I can grab a test ride here in Bangkok. Not even sure if they're available here yet. The Triumph is here, but haven't seen any Hornets yet.
Thanks for the review. Indeed the engine also for me is the most interesting thing in this motorcycle, since I've also ordered a Transalp. Hope Honda will respect the delivery date. Cheers, V.
Really Great review, very helpful. As a short arse, I don’t suffer from the same height restrictions you do. My beloved 2023 CB500X’s days are numbered, I can’t stretch to a Transalp so the Hornet is perfect for my needs. Off to the dealer tomorrow to crunch some numbers 🐝
Very nice review. I gained a new perspective of the motorcycleI over the other reviews I had watched, and that was valuable. I increasingly see a space in my garage for the Hornet or the Transalp, and my final decision will be based on the test rides when the models become available for test in my part of Central Europe.
Seems really promising, guess we'll see how the Transalp is as I'm 6'2! I would also be interested if the 750 or 1100 engine was put in a CL style scrambler.
A good all round review. I had one out on demo a few days ago and I also felt the front end a bit bare and the rake of the forks pretty steep. I’m 5’6 with a short 29 in leg so it fitted me well. A fun bike for a weekend ride, it just looks a bit boring. Ride safe.
I'm in somewhat similar shoes: also ordered the Transalp blindly:). This means that I will swap my beloved 2022 CB500X, but I just couldn't resist to that new engine. And I also sat on the Hornet 750, however, I felt that seating position was spot on for my 181 cm frame...so average sized rides don't need to shy away if they like the bike otherwise :)
I wonder. Look at the cb500x to CB500f transformation, and I can see Honda doing exactly the same with the Hornet. CB750f? Yes please. Perhaps what you noticed missing off the front is the half fairing waiting in the wings. That engine, with the fairing, flat seat, 19 inch [ cast tubeless front ] ,the rest is there. As for A.I., I feel the same way as I do when I get a chatbot when I really want a real person.. Enough said. Safe, happy travels 👍
Came across as a good honest review RM, pleased you found the engine was more than agreeable, as that's always the starting point for me. Over the front wheel position,(love the overlay graphic haha) is common among modern street bikes, as early as the kawa Z1000 circa 2004, and even Honda's cb 1000r of 2009 vintage. Excellent feeler for the transalp. 😊Ps Marked you a serious for the Stop line.
It reminds me of the bland CB500F. I like a bare, uncluttered view from the cockpit. I'm fractionally over 6'/1.85 m but only have a 32'' inside leg, so I bet I'd fit. I don't really like its looks, but if I was looking for a 'big' bike in Thailand, I'd consider this. I don't buy aftermarket exhausts, either. Only ever bought one. Really good TFT. Not cluttered at all. Portimao: I thought I recognised the area across the river before I saw the dealer later in the video.
@@RocketMan_Moto Where are they now? I wasn't thrown at all. I recognised some landmark. I need to go to Angel Pilot to get my Can-Am F3-S serviced when I get back to Lagos in mid-May. It's booked in.
yes, as per usual we agree on most points , for me a 7 inch round headlight would make the front end look more substantial rather than the the horrid squashed insect look ,, ,, but i hate the idea of a quickshift , why bother to ride if you can't be arsed to change gear ;;; , good review ;;
I would certainly take exception to the semicolon use in the first paragraph. I got that empty in front feel when I rode the CB650R - like falling off a cliff. I bought that and adapted to it in no time. I didn't get that feeling from the Hornet at all; I test rode it prior to ordering one (correct use of ;). A comma should have been used in the AI spiel. Please continue to be critical of bikes that you don't get on with. If people get offended, that's down to them.
Interesting review. I may well consider this as a second fun bike to compliment my Tracer 9GT in the future. As you say, looks are subjective - I saw a yellow one at my local dealer, it looked awful! The headlight and exhaust don't look good but I think the white or black with the red frame look great. The engine sounds impressive. The bottom line is that it's a lot of bike for the money.
Thanks for the review. Great and useful as usual. So you think this bike is too powerful for a beginner. Don't you think over confidence is the real problem ? And forget about chatGPT and enjoy the ride . Thanks a lot for the review. Wish you the best.
Great review, I totally agree that the most significant shortcoming is the styling - especially the headlamp. Honda could have adopted the CB650R/CB1000R styling instead of the CB500F which is neither classical nor bold/fashionable. I'm sure the chatGPT uses crawlers (code that sweeps thousands of web pages to collect info) in order to build its responses - that explains the bland press phrasing. You are a content creator, so you should be safe for decades to come - no PC will match one's creativity and intangible savyness (if that's an English word) and there's also the voice and cadence which would be really hard or at least very expensive to replicate. Not that you asked my opinion, but I would argue a starting rider (especially a young one) should not go above A2-compliant motorcycles for at least two years. I have a different opinion regarding first cars because usually more expensive/powerful ones offer better safety, but with motorcycles, apart from ABS (present in all new motorcycles) you don't get any protection aside from what you wear. Cheers
Thanks for your feedback and support :) I agree about A2 riders - I passed my test just before this scheme was introduced and went straight out and bought a 125hp Street Triple RS! With hindsight, it was NOT the best way to learn road craft. But I survived :)
I think your channel benefits alot of your calm deep voice! Channel could be also called radioman ;) but for sure they will introduce more charismatic ai voices at some point in time :D
The one I would go for, is obvious. 😉 But the question is how does the Hornet effect the CB650R? Neither the Hornet or the Trans Alp have showed up on Honda Canada's website (as expected), as the only new bikes they've brought into Canada are under powered (Navi, Giorno, Trail, XR150L).
Hi RM. 62 yes old, just passed my mot bike test. Thinking of a Honda ADV scooter, cb500f, kawa 650rs or hornet. Can't get first 2 this year I'm told. Will do 20 miles a day throughout the year with a once or twice 60 mile journey into London. Would love your views on any of these bikes. Thanks
You’re only a couple of years older than me. The ADV is great for the 20-mile commute, but the Hornet would be too, with the added advantage of being able to tackle longer trips, should the fancy take you. The CB500F is a bit placid, imo, even compared to the ADV. Never ridden the 650RS.
@@RocketMan_Moto Thanks. Do you mean the hornet is better at longer journeys? Lack of winter protection and screen, do you think it's the better option? Thanks again
Rather compare the looks and seated possition to a MT07 or a KTM Duke 790/890r/990. I justed tested one and was pleasenly supprised, some have told me it was a bit dull, but I enjoyed my time with this.
The best thing about ChatGPT in that passage was its correct use of the apostrophe, a punctuation mark which many humans (not you, Rocket) consistently misuse. So there is something to be said for AI, after all.
With you there! Why is it that every word in the English language ending in an 's' now seems to attract an apostrophe? Whatever happened to plural's! (Oops! 🤭)
@@RocketMan_Moto My friend Colin lives in France on a smallholding and he has a well. Whenever he gets an email that says "Dear Colin, I hope your well", he replies "You hope my well is what?"
The Hornet says to me that Honda is finally responding to the spec sheet warriors. The CB1000R needed to be more popular than it was, but it didn't hit the huge numbers that other bikes in the price class did. This is great on a spec sheet, but it feels like there's a couple areas that got very cheap looking compared to what I'm used to from Honda.
Write a very brief summary of new honda hornet in the style of donald trump... Well folks, let me tell you about the new Honda Hornet. It's tremendous, really fantastic. It's got a sleek design that's gonna turn heads, let me tell you. And the engine? Oh boy, it's a powerhouse. This thing can really fly. Plus, it's got all the latest tech features. It's gonna make your head spin. So if you want to ride like a champion, you gotta get yourself a Honda Hornet. Believe me, nobody knows bikes better than me.
Up until recently I thought Triumph had the corner on the parallel twin sound but I’m seeing more and more Japanese bikes doing a good job at it. Agree?
I wish honda could use this motor to build a comfortable fuel efficient new VFR 750 with a big 6 gallon fuel tank (like the vfr800 had), cruise control, heated grips and a usb charger.
Excellent review. Rocketman rules. ChatGPT stinks.I've myself test ridden this Hornet yesterday and found it without any defect. I'm short and probably weight less than you, so I found both the riding position and the setup of the suspension perfect for me. Unlike you, I did not like the shifter which I haven't found smooth enough. Just the opposite of the clutch and gearbox which are butter smooth.
Haha, thanks. The QS is good for a quick shifter, but I don't think it will ever be as smooth as actually operating the clutch yourself. I think it also depends on which rider mode you're using; I noticed quite a difference.
@@RocketMan_Moto Sport mode all the time. Therefore no way for me to notice any difference between modes. And yes, I also think that this 750cc engine will be perfect on the Transalp. So congratulations for your excellent choice.
The QS sensitivity on the Hornet can be adjusted. I think it relates only to the pressure you make on the lever, so not sure if it would solve your problem. 🙄
I'm 6 foot tall and had a CB300R which is even smaller than the Hornet. It didn't feel small in the cockpit though. It had the same "nothing in front of you" feeling, same as my current bike, Vitpilen 401. Unlike the CB, the Vit doesn't have a split seat so I can move back.
Thanks for the review RM. Agree with all you say; super vfm but let down by staid and conservative looks from the Big H. Had this bike been more interesting to look at (perhaps along the lines of their CB650, then it could well have been bingo for them. It probably will be anyway; I think the sheer ability and bang for your buck will dicrithst.
ChatGPT can't review a bike until it can ride a bike, otherwise it's just parroting other peoples' reviews. I felt the same way about the Trident; that there was nothing in front of me when I sat on it. I'm really looking forward to the TransAlp reviews.
Looks like the current Honda cb125f. They tried the family look across the range and ended up devaluing the CB900 by making it look like a 250 Superdream.
@@RocketMan_Moto i love that short tail on the 650r. that and a round headlamp cluster would make this hornet perfect. so much nostalogia on that name and they had to ruin it
Ish ? Why do many people use the term or expression of “ish” so much ? Smallish ? What about Scottish, Irish = not fully ? Or just round a bout ? Please explain, thanks.
Good question. Smallish and Danish, as you might think, are not connected and come from two distinct sources. This article will help: www.grammarphobia.com/blog/2009/01/an-ish-out-of-water.html
Not a HUGE fan of yellow anything, but the yellow one does look pretty cool. I currently have a black CB500F and it's great to zip around town. At 37, I'm not trying to be Valentino out there. I'm more amused by running errands with my top box and getting 60mpg while parking on the sidewalk.
Usual Honda bike, unusual Honda pricing, which is good for us. ChatGPT not ready to take over just yet, although seem to be getting more and more YT review channels with that mechanical voice reading out AI generated content which is obvious for now.
In order: Looks awful, the headlight is a thing for a shame bag (whatever that is!). Red forks look cheapo - v nasty; Switches look v good - liley. Sat on one at Brum, Brum show. I thought it was perfect for me: bars, seat, pegs, everything. I'm quite short at 5ft 8, or in metric, 1.3 Napoleons: The looks over the bars not as extreme as the CB650R - that you said you liked! - You're just too tall for the bike methinks. Which is great! It will suit me perfectly...and lots of women riders....Hurrah! (your wife confirms this truth); 90.5 hp, less than the CB but, as you say, lower max torque - V Gud!; The shorter diameter tyre is a total irrelevance. Good on Honda for doing it. Tyres more important and they're probably the best. Which is great; Reviewers never give a bike less than the beans; TFT looks, and is, one of the best; Please don't dwell on morons who express themselves in immoderate (moronic) ways. They are (almost) universally despised and always ignored; It's not a beginner bike. It's....whatever bhp it has...about 3 less than an Africa Twin for ....goodness sake. It's also light. The CB650 does nothing much up to 7,000 rpm. The fastest I've ridden is !30mph. It scared me. I thought you were AI for the first 2 years. But, I'm a forgiving soul.
@@RocketMan_Moto I know. These new crop of nakeds are light because there’s not a lot of stuff such as fairings, racks and stuff added on. If you want stuff, you get extra weight.
Like you I'm 6'2" and it's a pain, yes I'd fit more naturally on a Transalp but aging hips disagree and at an extra £2,000 it's hard to see where that extra has been spent. The Hornet i borrowed had an obnoxiously loud AR Racing straight through system but laws, neighbours and eardrums not withstanding, it sounded glorious. The package did rather feel like a £7,000 engine with a £500 spent on the rest of the bike but i could live with that i think. Quite possibly the nearest thing Honda has produced to a KTM and that's no mean achievement for the worlds most sensible manufacturer. th-cam.com/video/8lYm3sDQDYA/w-d-xo.html
A world were people work menial jobs that don't pay for the basic necessities of life, while AI writes poetry and paints art is not the future that I was hoping for. What's it gunna do next? Ask it too ride a bike in the style of Rossi or Doohan, and then it rides the bike like me? Yeah nah. Keep it real.
I just can’t ride Hondas anymore. I find the build quality has dropped through the floor. Not even sure which models are built in Japan anymore. This bike is just woeful for styling too. The power seems good though.
Would love this hornet motor in a classic 80s style honda with half fairing. This new wasp insect look today lacks character. Honda desperately need new design guru's, less plastics and a return to analog speedo and Rev counter. Worth noting Rolex DON'T make digital watches.
That is a rather dull bike, I think it will date very quickly. What is its purpose apart from being a naked motorcycle? Tourer - no, Commuter - yes but so many better bikes, even Hondas own CB500, Track Day Tool - no, Cruiser - if you like? It is just..... "a motorbike".
hey...its a kymco visar 125 or any other like those. Awfull and uninspiring... from one of the best motorcycle brands around. try the new 765 triple :D :D for 3k more it should make all the difference in the world.
I don’t understand why the Transalp 750 costs 3000 euros more than the Hornet. It’s the same bike with fairing. This is all due to the hype of adventure bikes? 😢 You bought the Transalp, have you asked Honda what’s the differences? How do you feel about that. You could make a rant video on the topic 😅
Marketing. Basically, Honda will sell the Transalp for as much as they can get away with, and as adventure riders tend to have more disposable income than urban roadster riders... That said, BMW do exactly the same thing with the F900R & XR.
So that’s who writes for mcn

We tend to get Hondas here in Europe before anyone else, for some reason
Heyo, I've been waiting for this
Hope you enjoyed it :)
@@RocketMan_Moto I did. Honestly it made me happy to have gotten the Tiger 660. Now if only they could give that bike 15- 20 more horsepower...
Thanks for the review. Indeed the engine also for me is the most interesting thing in this motorcycle, since I've also ordered a Transalp. Hope Honda will respect the delivery date.
Cheers, V.
The engine is very good! Re. delivery date on the Transalp, I fear it could be May now :(
Really Great review, very helpful. As a short arse, I don’t suffer from the same height restrictions you do. My beloved 2023 CB500X’s days are numbered, I can’t stretch to a Transalp so the Hornet is perfect for my needs. Off to the dealer tomorrow to crunch some numbers 🐝
Thanks, glad you found it useful. The Hornet is more fun to ride than the Transalp👍😊
Very nice review. I gained a new perspective of the motorcycleI over the other reviews I had watched, and that was valuable. I increasingly see a space in my garage for the Hornet or the Transalp, and my final decision will be based on the test rides when the models become available for test in my part of Central Europe.
Thank you. The Hornet is available pretty much everywhere now, but I don't think we'll be seeing the Transalp until mid-April at the earliest.
Seems really promising, guess we'll see how the Transalp is as I'm 6'2! I would also be interested if the 750 or 1100 engine was put in a CL style scrambler.
Agreed - a CL750 scrambler would be fantastic
How about a roomier retro CB750! I'm 6'2 also
@@steveparish9210 yep i wouldn't mind a hawk 75
Looking forward to your transalp review.
I'll be sure to post a video as soon as it arrives :)
A good all round review. I had one out on demo a few days ago and I also felt the front end a bit bare and the rake of the forks pretty steep. I’m 5’6 with a short 29 in leg so it fitted me well. A fun bike for a weekend ride, it just looks a bit boring. Ride safe.
I agree on the looks and the empty front end - pity - but the engine is sweet :)
A CB500X+. That’s just what I’m looking for🙏
I'm sure there are a couple of other models in the pipeline: 750F, 750R...
Thanks for your feedback, Graham. Stop lines are seen as optional in Portugal😊
Another good review
Another nice comment😊
It reminds me of the bland CB500F. I like a bare, uncluttered view from the cockpit. I'm fractionally over 6'/1.85 m but only have a 32'' inside leg, so I bet I'd fit. I don't really like its looks, but if I was looking for a 'big' bike in Thailand, I'd consider this. I don't buy aftermarket exhausts, either. Only ever bought one. Really good TFT. Not cluttered at all. Portimao: I thought I recognised the area across the river before I saw the dealer later in the video.
Yes, great clock. I'm in no rush to change the exhaust. Re. Angel Pilot, they recently moved premises, so maybe that's what threw you.
@@RocketMan_Moto Where are they now? I wasn't thrown at all. I recognised some landmark. I need to go to Angel Pilot to get my Can-Am F3-S serviced when I get back to Lagos in mid-May. It's booked in.
yes, as per usual we agree on most points , for me a 7 inch round headlight would make the front end look more substantial rather than the the horrid squashed insect look ,, ,, but i hate the idea of a quickshift , why bother to ride if you can't be arsed to change gear ;;; , good review ;;
I agree that a nicer headlight would smarten things up no end. I love quick shifters, sorry😀
Will do. Thanks for your support😊
Agreed, very competitive price👍
Thanks for the review. Great and useful as usual. So you think this bike is too powerful for a beginner. Don't you think over confidence is the real problem ? And forget about chatGPT and enjoy the ride . Thanks a lot for the review. Wish you the best.
Merci, Pierre :)
Totally agree about colour scheme.....but I like the bland styling....for a commuter
For a commuter, it's ideal
I think your channel benefits alot of your calm deep voice! Channel could be also called radioman ;) but for sure they will introduce more charismatic ai voices at some point in time :D
Haha, thank you. Glad you appreciate my voice, it's the only one I have :)
The Hornet has more available torque than the 650, which needs revving to get the most out of it
The ADV looks as though it will protect more than it actually does. The Forza 350 may be better for you.
Rather compare the looks and seated possition to a MT07 or a KTM Duke 790/890r/990. I justed tested one and was pleasenly supprised, some have told me it was a bit dull, but I enjoyed my time with this.
The Hornet is a fun bike
Would say it needs a screen... Maybe that skinny rear makes it easier to turn. 👍
Definitely, the narrow rear tyre does contribute to the dynamic handling. A fly screen would probably beef up the front a bit, yes👍
Would it be suitable for an older beginner (30s - 40s) who's disciplined enough to keep it in rain mode for the first riding season?
Absolutely 👍
The best thing about ChatGPT in that passage was its correct use of the apostrophe, a punctuation mark which many humans (not you, Rocket) consistently misuse. So there is something to be said for AI, after all.
Yes, as a linguist, I have to say I was impressed by the flawless grammar and punctuation.
With you there! Why is it that every word in the English language ending in an 's' now seems to attract an apostrophe? Whatever happened to plural's! (Oops! 🤭)
Haha, don't get me started. The number of times I see your/you're or their/they're/there misused..!
Thanks for your feedback😊👍
I'll travel to Portugal to grab a free quickshifter 😃
It was a one-week deal only, I’m afraid
@@RocketMan_Moto oh no !
Haha. A few more grammatical errors, or made up words, would have made it more convincing :)
Odd. I like the look if it particularly in the white and red.
Fair enough :)

Ooh!, besides Sir Elton John!
8.00 "reigned in"....what's the chances of a horse appearing😀....enjoyed your review...looks like a lot of bike for the money.
Lol, that is a pure, if very happy coincidence :)
Sounds like the best value for money on the market right now. Still wouldn't choose it over my trident.
It’s probably a better ride than the Trident, but it certainly doesn’t look as good
I’ll place my bets here: 2024 Hornet and Transalp with DCT.
Let's hope so. The greater the choice the better :)
Up until recently I thought Triumph had the corner on the parallel twin sound but I’m seeing more and more Japanese bikes doing a good job at it. Agree?
Yes, the Hornet makes a great sound. No induction roar like you get with the triples, though…

I noticed the QS was a bit more brutal in Sport mode. Thank you :)
Yes, as with most quick shifters, you need to be quite firm and decisive with your foot, and make sure you're in the right sort of rev range
Thanks for your feedback👍😊
@@RocketMan_Moto Cheers RocketMan!

A big seller, for sure. If only it looked a bit more desirable…
I think chatgpt might have been confused between the 750 and 650R, especially in the looks department.
Possible👍
ChatGPT can't review a bike until it can ride a bike, otherwise it's just parroting other peoples' reviews.
I felt the same way about the Trident; that there was nothing in front of me when I sat on it.
I'm really looking forward to the TransAlp reviews.
👍😊
Looks like the current Honda cb125f.
They tried the family look across the range and ended up devaluing the CB900 by making it look like a 250 Superdream.
They should have given it a new headlight, at least
honda should've pulled the rear cowl from the CB650r on the hornet just like they pulled the headlight cluster from the CB500r
I believe there’s a seat cowl available as an accessory. That might help liven things up a bit?🤔

If the front view feels empty, simply add weight.
I meant visually empty😊
@@RocketMan_Moto I know. These new crop of nakeds are light because there’s not a lot of stuff such as fairings, racks and stuff added on. If you want stuff, you get extra weight.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Street Triple is 2-3 levels up from the Trident, good as that bike is😊
Like you I'm 6'2" and it's a pain, yes I'd fit more naturally on a Transalp but aging hips disagree and at an extra £2,000 it's hard to see where that extra has been spent. The Hornet i borrowed had an obnoxiously loud AR Racing straight through system but laws, neighbours and eardrums not withstanding, it sounded glorious. The package did rather feel like a £7,000 engine with a £500 spent on the rest of the bike but i could live with that i think.
