    Sweet! Never knew there was a spinner model, always wished someone made one nice job with the lights! I have a Spinner hallmark ornament that looks nice and a bit smaller than this model and really wish they had lighted it a little bit.

    Super build!!! Out here doing the Lord's work by providing, not only the video on your build but, supplying the wiring diagram AND research photos too.
    Looking forward to seeing the completed build!!!
    How do you actually open and "view" the Trinket sketch?? Is there a program that you have to use?? It's all new to me. Thanks.

    • @modelsbychris
      @modelsbychris  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the Arduino code. So you have to have the Arduino app. It's the code to load onto a Trinket to run the lights.

    Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t see “the money shot” image - the final, completed shot of the model mounted on the base with all the lights flashing from front to back. Btw, great build. Terrific attention to detail. Thanks for sharing

      You didn't. The final video is tomorrow night of the completed build. I mentioned at the end that it would come later.

    As usual, your work is absolutely stunning. This model is so iconic to me and my generation, moved as I have been when I first watched Blade Runner long ago, when I was about... 12 years old. The ambience and mood, light, photography of this movie were so different, so ethereal that it really and deeply moved and marked me. I still love it today, even with its old special effects which could seem so old school today. Rutger Hauer, H Ford are just perfect. The only thing that deceives me a bit on the kit is the main body colour of the Spinner, I thought it was more dark blue. I wonder if the fit is good on the kit? I would like to order it and build it, but as I am far less likely to master a kit as you are, I am not sure that I could end with a good finish if the fit OOB is not quite good as for Tamiya model kits for example? Nevertheless, excellent work, I'm glad to see that you have time to work regularly on your hobby again, and provide and share with us your expertise and mastering. I'm now impatient to watch the last video of it. Thank you!

    • @modelsbychris
      @modelsbychris  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always thought darker as well. I got a can of Tamiya Mica Blue, which I thought would look really nice on the kit, but all references and the miniature are actually a much lighter blue. All in the lighting of the movie. But I opted for closer to the actual miniature. It was a rough debate for me actually.

    If Those smd leds are 3v, why the need for resistors?
    Or maybe my knowledge of leds are a little lacking lol. But dang that looks cool🙂👍

    • @stellarscalemodels5690
      @stellarscalemodels5690 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The USB power will be around 5 V, i guess the resistors will prevent the LEDs from burning :)

    • @modelsbychris
      @modelsbychris  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Stellar Scale Models correct. Plus, LEDs don't really run on 3v. They vary from like 1.2 - 3. It's purely safety. Don't wanna have to to rip that thing open to fix an LED

    • @stellarscalemodels5690
      @stellarscalemodels5690 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@modelsbychris True, do you calculate the resistors individually for each LED (mainly colourwise i guess) or do you have a 'general' resistor value that works well for all? I am still trying to do my first basic wirings and feel the calculation part is a bit tricky...

    • @modelsbychris
      @modelsbychris  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@stellarscalemodels5690 I just usually use 370 or 490 ohm across the board. I don't calculate.

    Awesome build. Where did you source your cob led strip I can't find any that cut into short enough strips.

  • @cp1985gt
    @cp1985gt ปีที่แล้ว

    Chris, It looks like you are running 7 leds per pin on the Trinket (7 rotating lights). Is the trinket capable of running this load per pin or are you using a transistor? Thanks for posting the code for the lighting effects as that seems to be the major hurdle for most modelers using an Arduino, myself included. Wonderful job on the model build.

    • @modelsbychris
      @modelsbychris  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Trinket can run large lengths of LED strips off of a single pin. 7 is really nothing. In the Jupiter 2 model I did, I had like 8 or so strips of LEDs with each strip consisting of probably a dozen or more off of a single pin. And those were animated. Even on Adafruit's site they have sketch examples of running loads.

      Thanks again for posting the code for this. I was able to replicate the lighting controlled by the Trinket perfectly. It really allowed me to make a model beyond what I thought my capability was. Man, those 0402 smd's are small. Super happy with the way my model turned out. Next I'll try to add sound to the model base.@@modelsbychris

      @@cp1985gt Awesome. I'm glad you were able to use it and it helped you out. Yes, the 0402's are very small. Try soldering bare ones some time. That's really fun. 😵‍💫
