I'm aware a lot of people find this video to be a small bit fast which is a mixture of my editing style and my anxiety which I am working on. My crochet videos are designed to be paused and re-winded if needed as it is the way I learn and many of my crafting friends too. If I was to leave the video in real time it would be over an hour long. I have included a typed pattern for anyone that needs it!
Good luck with your anxiety lovely! It's very insightful that you can acknowledge that. Your video didn't make you seem anxious at all. You are very talented and I'm sure it's taken lots of hard work to get as good as you are. Keep making videos, they are great
you all probably dont give a shit but does someone know a trick to get back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot the account password. I love any help you can give me
I was amazed too! I'm currently using the double circle magic cause it holds the circle much better. But the way she did it was the best. Made it easier to finish the first row of magic circle 💗
So cute Rachel. My 4 sisters and I are getting together in a few days and I want to make each a set of these. They are going to love them. Can't wait to get started so thankyou! 😊
Thank you so much for this lovely video! I would like to use your pattern to make granny squares with the cat in the center as I really want to make myself an afghan using loads of these. I cannot wait to get started!! You have a gorgeous cat! Thank you again!!
Thank you! I'd love to see if you do try! I'd recommend possibly backing them with a sheet of felt or similar material if you're giving them as gifts :)
shamelle clagette thank you! I've actually started to type them out so I will be uploading it over the next few days so keep an eye out here :) rachelbethdiy.wordpress.com/
Wow. I did actual double crochets the entire time and it came out curved and will never lie flat. Ugh I should have paid attention to the video and not listened to the talking.
I got it from this super cute etsy store about 8 years ago so I don't think they've the same one but they definitely last :) www.etsy.com/ie/shop/polymerclayshed

When I pull the tail end to tighten the ring, the second string doesn't tighten. What am I doing wrong? Also, once it is tightened, do you close the ring (connect it to itself) before starting the next row? I see you use a stitch marker. Could you please explain how and why?
Erin Parker you might of pulled the wrong loop tight first when you have the two loops. You can close the circle first if you like, it doesn’t make too much of a difference. I use stitch markers to keep track of my rows to I don’t have to count stitches every row, then I used them just as a guide for where I wanted the placement to be, you can use a different coloured thread for this if you want :)
So after I used steam on my yarn, it got soft and almost meshed together :c you can't see each row as clearly as before. It almost looks like a flat material. I used a towel over it and it still came out like this, what did I do wrong 😞
It could be the type of yarn you used wasn’t suitable for steam or the temperature may have been too high. Don’t be afraid to try again and pin it down straight after so it cools off in the shape 😊
Just a thought, when you were editing your video you might be sure that the stitch you’re talking about is the stitch that you’re actually working on in the video because that got quite confusing as I was pausing and unpausing, trying to follow along. I did think that this was a cute pattern though. Instead of using them as coasters they are appliqués for a scarf I’m making. ☺️
Also...it took me a minute to translate all of this to US stitches (or whatever you call them) 🤣. Haven’t had to do that in a while, I was a little rusty!
Thanks for your feedback, your issues with the stitches may be due to the fact I use the uk version of crochet as I live in Ireland so that might help. I’d love to see your scarf when you finish it!
i dont want my google plus account to be connected with my youtube account sorry to hear that I'll take it into consideration in future, they are designed for you to pause it in between. I do have a written pattern on my blog linked in the description of the video if that's any help!
I am really trying to do the magic circle the way you do but you speed it up and when you make it smaller, I can't see what you are doing and I just end up with a knot. :(
vicki jen I’m afraid I’m confused, the video includes adding the tail, the USA version of a half treble crochet is a half double crochet if I’m not mistaken. If the pattern has a number before the stitch it would mean you do two of the stitch into the one stitch
Good video. I changed the playback speed down. I don't know why people can't just do that rather than complain. I watch another lady who talks too slow and I turn it up. Can't please everyone.
Your video is great! You explain beautifully, but is a bit too fast. This may not be for beginners but if you do your videos fir beginners friendly, unless other wise instructed, you will have lots more views😊 Please go a bit slower when going to the next step. Exp. When you finish the row, start a new row ect. But the rest is fine, just go a bit slower. Thank you!!!
Sorry but aren't double crochets done by yarning over before inserting the hook? I think you're doing single crochets. Tried both and single crochets work better for this pattern.
Love what you made, both are adorable, can you slow down and explain a little better. I couldn't follow the instructions, I haven't been crocheting for very long. Very confusing for me.
Tanya Boudreau thank you! I've had a few people tell me this and it is something I'm working on. Unfortunately I get very anxious recording so I don't realise how quickly I'm talking which is why I'm trying to do written patterns for all my crochet videos in my blog
I like it but it’s way too fast. I’m not a beginner and I hate when they go slow but this is ridiculously fast. Slow down a little bit in you will have more people following your channel.
You need to slow down going to fast also when you say double but crochet a single you need to inform everyone that you are talking UK style please look at fellow youtubers on how to do your videos
Laura Core I appreciate the feedback as I have already been told about the speed which is why I include written patterns. As for looking at other youtubers on how to make my videos they wouldn’t be mine if I copied other peoples styles :)
My crochet videos are designed to be paused and re-winded if needed as it is the way I learn and many of my crafting friends too. If I was to leave the video in real time it would be over an hour long. I have included a typed pattern in the description for anyone that needs it

DISCLAIMER: I use the UK version not the US
This video is awesome! I don’t think you need to worry about speed, yes we can pause! And rewind! We have the technology!😄lol!
Good luck with your anxiety lovely! It's very insightful that you can acknowledge that. Your video didn't make you seem anxious at all. You are very talented and I'm sure it's taken lots of hard work to get as good as you are. Keep making videos, they are great
The speed of this is waaaaaay to fast. Shame.
you all probably dont give a shit but does someone know a trick to get back into an instagram account?
I somehow forgot the account password. I love any help you can give me
I have to say, Rachel, that is the easiest magic circle I have ever seen . Thanks a ton
I was amazed too! I'm currently using the double circle magic cause it holds the circle much better. But the way she did it was the best. Made it easier to finish the first row of magic circle 💗
Thank you!
Thanks for this tutorial! One of the easiest tutorial of cat coaster out there.
You are a wonderful teacher. I will be watching your videos from now on. That was the best magic ring I have ever seen done thank you
Cathy Jones aww thank you so much! I really appreciate that!
I agree on the magic circle!
Thank you for the video and making your pattern easy to find.
I like that you go fast. i hate when the videos drag on and on. I'll be watching some of your other videos!
Thanks so much! I personally prefer videos that are short that I can rewind rather than having them drag on so I'm glad someone else does too! :)
So cute Rachel. My 4 sisters and I are getting together in a few days and I want to make each a set of these. They are going to love them. Can't wait to get started so thankyou! 😊
Kat Snyder aw that sounds like so much fun!
Thank you so much for this lovely video! I would like to use your pattern to make granny squares with the cat in the center as I really want to make myself an afghan using loads of these. I cannot wait to get started!! You have a gorgeous cat! Thank you again!!
Magda Diana thank you for your lovely comment! I'd love to see the finished blanket, it sounds adorable!
Really cute! Love it! Thanks for sharing!
Omg you're so young and so talented! All your diy are lovely 💖
Iliana Briones aww thank you so much!
love them. i will definitely try doing them.
Thank you! I'd love to see if you do try! I'd recommend possibly backing them with a sheet of felt or similar material if you're giving them as gifts :)
У меня все получилось! Thanks!
Wow this girl is amazing!!!
Irish Emma :) thank you :)
Hi, do you have a written pattern for a paw? Would be a great set!
Great job love the kitty face... 😻
Sondra Moore thank you 😊

Great job!
These are so cute! Do you have a written pattern?
shamelle clagette thank you! I've actually started to type them out so I will be uploading it over the next few days so keep an eye out here :) rachelbethdiy.wordpress.com/
My written pattern went up today :) rachelbethdiy.wordpress.com/2017/07/07/crochet-cat-coasters-pattern/
Really cute 🥰🥰🥰
great work, I will make these butts for some of my freaky cat friends now
Trine K aw thank you! You should! Tag me if you do I'd love to see them!
Slow down
thank you for your clear audible sound. I don't hear very well and you are very clear. please keep up the great work.
Marie Hilliard aw thank you so much!
If you put the speed to 0.5 you can actually understand what is going on!
New sub. These are cute.
Sorry love, is your double crochet= single crochet in US terms? I am a beginner and just figuring this stuff out. Thanks ❤️
Alexis Mayne yes it is! There's a handy little chart on this website :) www.simplycrochetmag.co.uk/2013/07/04/uk-and-us-crochet-conversion-chart/
Wow. I did actual double crochets the entire time and it came out curved and will never lie flat. Ugh I should have paid attention to the video and not listened to the talking.
Is there no slip stitch, ch1 at end of each row?
No just a continuous loop, feel free to do it if you’d like to though :)
I accidentally ordered fine weight yarn, will this still work?
You might just have to add on a few more rows for it to be the right size :)
Muy bonito y creativo, Saludos desde Mexico
Norma Sanchez thank you :)
I have just got to know where you got your hook from :"0
I got it from this super cute etsy store about 8 years ago so I don't think they've the same one but they definitely last :) www.etsy.com/ie/shop/polymerclayshed
What is that thing holding your crochet hook? I need that!

I've watched the video many time, pausing as I go and it's still too fast.
If you tap the three dots in the top corner you can adjust the speed of the playback.
What about the magikarp bonnet?
Jennissa Dei Arnoco I'll keep it in mind thank you :)
rachelbeth hehe. I'm tryna work on it. But I'm having difficulty.
Jennissa Dei Arnoco aw no! What's the problem you're having?
rachelbeth i dont know if I'm doing the pattern right
Jennissa Dei Arnoco is it in the same format you crochet in? (As in if you crochet using the English/US method is the pattern the same or different)
ahahaha these are so fun!!
I know! Definitely glad I tried making it for her, so much fun :)
YIKES! That second ear is impossible to follow . . . so fast my eyes hurt. But i shall persevere because I REALLY love the end result
great video, I just wish it was slower. It was very very difficult for me to follow.
i dont want my google plus account to be connected with my youtube account sorry to hear that I'll take it into consideration in future, they are designed for you to pause it in between. I do have a written pattern on my blog linked in the description of the video if that's any help!

Sorry you're finding it difficult! I am working on a beginner basics series to make things a bit easier :)
rachelbeth well, that sounds great. I'm not a beginner it's just your method was new and I was trying to learn it.
the written part for then cat but is diff
vicki jen oh really how?
canu do a vid to add the tail cause I do usa terms got to the bit for row 6 then row 7 chain 3 part I'm lost
vicki jen I’m afraid I’m confused, the video includes adding the tail, the USA version of a half treble crochet is a half double crochet if I’m not mistaken. If the pattern has a number before the stitch it would mean you do two of the stitch into the one stitch
Why do you call a single crochet a double?
Olivia 1228 I use the UK version of crochet, a single would be the US version
rachelbeth Aaahh Ok Thank you. Lol I was confused for a moment. I did complete a face tonight and it is pinned on my board 😁
Olivia 1228 ah that’s so cool! If you post it up anywhere be sure to tag me :)
Yes I will 😊
Bello👏👏👏👏😍🌹
Like, so cute
FashionnArt thank you :)
yw! :)
Great video but to fast for me!
JUST JUDY I made a written pattern to go along with it which I’ve linked in the description :)
Good video. I changed the playback speed down. I don't know why people can't just do that rather than complain. I watch another lady who talks too slow and I turn it up. Can't please everyone.

Huh" double" singles
Rozalind Werner I use the UK version of crochet, not the American, so my doubles would be singles if you are using the other version :)
Wow so fast
Sorry but aren't double crochets done by yarning over before inserting the hook? I think you're doing single crochets. Tried both and single crochets work better for this pattern.
Hi, there is two different versions of crocheting, uk and us. I use the uk version which is where the confusion may be
u mean " bum hole coaster" ....
Love what you made, both are adorable, can you slow down and explain a little better. I couldn't follow the instructions, I haven't been crocheting for very long. Very confusing for me.

You can go to settings on a video and change the speed to slow it down yourself.
You are very fast, it would be nice to go a little slower for us beginners, love your ideas though thank you very much.
Sondra Moore I’ve had similar feedback in the past and hope to improve it in the future. Thanks!
It looks like you are doing single crochet, but are saying double crochet. I'm just doing double and seeing what happens! :)
Stephanee Kammer hi I use the UK version of crochet, you may be using the US version so that is why my double looks like a single to you :)
OH! I had no idea there was a difference! Thank you for letting me know :)
Stephanee Kammer no worries! It’s pretty easy to translate over :)
Those are SC. Not DC.
Mary Mercandino as it says at the start I use the UK terminology not the US so it’s a double crochet for me :)
@@rachelbethdiy I see that now
I just can't, everithing you do i canteven in first minute you cant understand anything,
slower please
thank you!
To fast :(

Wow!!!! Way too fast!!! Thanks anyway!
My crochet videos are designed to be paused and re-winded if needed as it is the way I learn and many of my crafting friends too. If I was to leave the video in real time it would be over an hour long. I have included a typed pattern in the description for anyone that needs it
Terrible recording
