I think it is misleading to market 4GB of storage when in fact only half that amount 2GB is available to the user. In the US it is possible that might be grounds for a lawsuit? Is it not possible to keep the Wear OS watch face permanently lit? It seems by default the monochrome display comes back within mere seconds but I think on the original ProTrek model it is possible to change it so that the display is always on until the battery goes low. So is this possible on this G-Shock? In the initial info for this watch it was said this was going to come with a thermometer sensor but now it is missing? I have noticed this in general when it comes to Wear OS watches that no one seems to come with a working thermometer sensor, it is weird, why does it not appear to be possible to get a thermometer in a wear OS watch? The ProTrek smart watch models also have that function missing. I wonder how you are supposed to get an accurate barometer and altimeter with a thermo sensor missing? Temperature is a essential part in calculating the correct pressure and altitude. So this is a mystery to me? Have you tried downloading a thermometer app from the Google play store and installing it and see if that somehow works to bring out temperature data from this watch? Perhaps that could work if it turns out there is a hidden temperature sensor in the watch...
Yes it is possible to keep the Wear OS watch face permanent. You can also change the screen timeout to max 15 sec (default was 5 sec). I did do a ADB sensor/hardware dump, cant see any additional sensor. Will give it a go anyway & update
Gotta say. I've had the WSDF30 for the last couple of years and I love it. What I love most is that at the end of the day when it dies it still functions as a watch. It switches over to the monochrome display and sips the last bit of the battery that way. As for the battery 9/10 when I go hiking I carry a battery pack with me for my phone, camera ect.. This watch has definitely peaked my interest and I'm excited to get my hands on it when it's available in Canada.
No other Wear OS watch has 20 BAR/ATM water resistance rating. The 2016 Nixon Mission watch had 10 ATM, but afaik the best in today's market has a 5 ATM rating. Enjoy your videos very much. Got a MSG-1000 a couple days ago, loved it. Watches are tools, so if I want to get serious, I use my Garmin Fenix, long battery life, lots of ANT+ accessories and very nice looking. But I am a G-Shock fan too, so for that reason I bought this one, the G-Wagon of smart watches, not practical, has flaws, lacks things and expensive, but rugged as hell, plus that G-Shock look to the Nth. There's no way they can release a watch like this for such a low price because their regular g-shock watches are already too expensive for what they are. Casio is selling 80s technology for $100-400 with their regular g-shocks and all you get is a shitty LCD with a stopwatch function encased in a plastic body. A watch like the GSW-H1000 at $300 would make almost all of their other watches obsolete. It's so obvious what's going on when you consider this new g-shock smartwatch is made in Japan. Essentially, Casio locked themselves out of the smartwatch market due to their overpriced "dumb" watches. @@speedzero7478 I'm talking about this particular g-shock watch. All Tag Heuer watches are very expensive so it's irrelevant to Casio. My fiancée got this for me as a gift. We returned it after one day of hiking. The battery life on this is terrible. I love my gshock watch but someone should be fired for creating this one.
G-Shock watches look cool and all. That's good. But at some point their gimmick of being unbreakable stops being relevant. Even their cheaper models are pretty much safe from most common stresses, impact, water etc. Its like a pointless gimmick to make it "stronger" than the previous models. Most people likely get some scratches, or some damage on the case or the glass, or their strap breaks and they just buy another one since people don't like seeing cosmetic damage on the watch.

Being a G shock fan myself, I have to admit this is the biggest disappointment if not the failure of the decade. On the main watch face, press and hold. Click on the cog wheel that appears below the watch face. Scroll to monochrome lcd, choose Bright
Or go to Casio Apps (bottom right button) choose timepiece, Settings, Monochrome Display to Bright
@@Gsyoku perfect thank you.
How much please
699usd
Looks great 👍
Dude, can't you put a normal link so we can purchase it 😒
You could almost strap a smart car to your wrist for that price.
Price?
First, great thorough review! Most reviewers just show the watch and that's it. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for your in depth review I now see this watch is no better then my mid master.
Does it have NFC?
Nope!
Does it has google pay?
Nope

What Wear OS apps have you tried on this watch?

Nope
thank you, your video is very informative.
Another excellent video

I expected more from Casio with this price, Garmin Fenix 6X Pro Solar more function, and better battery life up to 46 days with 32GB and full-color display.
Certainly a way better bang for the buck. I love my Garmin Instinct Solar. I may upgrade to the Fénix Pro one day though
There's no way Casio can release a watch like this for under $400 because their regular g-shock watches are already too expensive for what they are. Casio is selling 80s technology for $100-400 with their regular g-shocks and all you get is a shitty LCD with a stopwatch function encased in a plastic body. Their regular "made in Japan" g-shocks go for $400 and some are closer to $1000.
A watch like the GSW-H1000 at $300-$400 would make almost all of their other watches obsolete.
It's so obvious what's going on when you consider this new g-shock smartwatch is made in Japan. It's just an excuse to make the watch expensive. If it was made in China/Thailand it would be half the cost, but they don't want that so they purposefully slapped "made in Japan" on the back of the watch.
Essentially, Casio locked themselves out of the smartwatch market due to their overpriced "dumb" watches. For a GSW-H1000 to exist at $300, all of their other g-shocks would have to cost under $100 and their Japanese made g-shocks under $200. Obviously, they'll never do that because 90% of their revenue comes from selling traditional g-shocks.
you are right. amazfit, huami, huawei, realmi, even samsung etc making a bunch of smart watch in 100-200dollar region in all shape. the one closest to a g-shock is amazfit t-rex pro at just 150dollar. its nothing high tech, and again japanese makers are losing out in smart watch era , just like how they did in smart phone era. slow to react and overpriced.
@@charlesdegaulle2928 smart watch era? you think it will be an era? calls or mails or whatever can be just done with your phone in the pocket. 500 dollars to have what you already have? you have no brain. I'd say apple or your fitness watches are overpriced for what they offer. A person with life would buy a normal watch to keep time. These smart watches are for kids who have no work except for sitting in starbucks.
Casio will be the next Nokia.
Just like the protrek model they did 3 years ago that 2 had rubbish battery life
A touchscreen inside a chunky G-Shock bezel would seem difficult to use. Hence the stylus?
Not really, i used the stylus so that the video is not obstructed.
It's certainly visually well executed g-shock.
I just doubt that having all that bezel is good for using it with your finger
Great watch , good video! I would like to have this watch :)
Oh, you would like to have this watch? Hmm....interesting.
can i listen music via bluetooth if i install Spotify on the watch?
Spotify today only allows controls from the watch. There was an announcement that offline playback will be available soon (means u can leave your phone behind). As of now, only controls from the watch.
i will wait for the upgrade model of this. for sure they will make a solar version next..
Yeah and charge $1200 for a shitty OS and mineral crystal!
@@NathanChisholm041 yeah probably and I hope you like the looks of the 5600 because thats the body its gonna come in. Blahhhhhh🤮
Hi there, can u answer the call? Can u speak from the watch?
There is no speaker on the watch. So, you cant take a call from the watch itself. Call notification is available
900th like...you deserve it!!!
Love Gshocks and seriously considered buying the GSW H1000.
However after listening to the reviews, about how bad it is, glad I didn't.
Anyone have one
What are your experiences?
I like a tough looking smartwatch, but can't agree with its pricing.
@@Gsyoku no thermometer why I needed
No, again a plastic lock?? Why not metal?? They not foucusing the overall quality despite the price hmm
Beautiful watch but the battery is a problem and the locking mechanism is made of plastic...
Great design etc... but Casio has a lot of catch up to do in the smartwatch and sport watch market if they want to have a chance. This is very average. And this is coming from a g-shock fan for over 30 years. I have 5 of them for the moment.
Is this watch waterproof? I mean the charging port is wide open.
Yes it is. 200 meters water resistant
@@Gsyoku Charging port is not a problem?
No issues
Not impressed.
Could be a great option with $250 price tag, but Casio couldn't compete other well established brands with these ridiculous prices.
i disagree. its far better than apple or any smartwatch which breaks easily
@@racina25nairobi27 you are right, this g-shock is the watch to watch if you are going to afganistan and want to track your fitness!
@@charlesdegaulle2928 or tell hat you prefer to cry about it when you break apple watch when apple charge 500 dollars. or when apple release same shit and does'nt care about your watch with updates. or when apple watch just rusts. your turn.
ohh all these tech watches which lose battery and go out of business in 5 years, with no watch making history, Snobs wearing them acting like they are a big deal. pipe down.
@@racina25nairobi27 I may not really like Apple made watches, but they do not break easily at all. They have other issues.
Great watch, great video .
Thanks for the great vedio (y)
Totally agree with you. Great watch, but hugely overpriced, poor battery life, and lacking in features something like an Apple Watch has - music being a prime example. Shame ...
Very nice watch 👍🇬🇧❤️
Should have tough solar
I dont know why Japan made Smart Watch at gshock less features n not smooth screen..its just expensive with brand
I will never spend this much on a smart watch when I can have a beautiful real watch for that price.
Smart watch is more than a real watch.
I really like touch srceen
Being a G shock fan myself, I have to admit this is the biggest disappointment if not the failure of the decade. The watch spec is 2 years too late and too 2x too expensive. no NFC, no chance of using new wear OS, no solar, and very low GPS run time. Smartwatch is a tough arena to compete in, 1 year too late and your product is already a guaranteed failure antique
the battery life is not an issue. No one would wear this watch to bed so you would just charge the phone overnight...
700 usd is absurd!
I like that this watch looks like a normal watch, im a big gshock fan. But the price and features are holding me back until the 2 or 3 gen comes out. Im not a fan of the looks of smart watches but I need one due to work. Hopefully they fix these small issues
gsyoku does the GSW H1000 looks and feel like a $700 dollar watch ???
For me, it feels like a touchscreen version of the GBD-H1000. Exact same feel and wear
Soo Nice💪🏻
Waayy too expensive for an LCD screen
Why tf smartwatch brands don't realize how important NFC pay is for users. It can definitely boost their sale over 10%.
Yup agree, i use nfc payment from my phone all the time. Would have been a fantastic feature if i could just use my watch
