I saw all the other vidoes being 20 mins plus, and I saw Dave's and thought... this man will get to the point. Thanks for the succinct video, Dave. Covers all the points that matter at this point in time, given what we already know about the ultimates and its software. Thanks.
Thanks for the video and explanation Dave. When I first saw Simucube announced a new pedal I was like great, I just bought a pedal a little over a month ago. Nice to hear my pedal setup is not obsolete yet 😅
i dont get why they would release pedal that, at the figures we're talking about here, isnt much price difference. The people with money who are looking at this will likely not be questioning the 200 or so difference. Plus with Moza knocking on the door with their competitor (granted we know very little about it and how it actually fairs just yet) why would they not be targeting those people in the high end pedal market, rather than making another competitor for theselves in the super super high end pedal market - feels a bit odd.
I agree. If I had the money to spend on pedals that price, I wouldn't have a second thought about buying the ultimates. 300 euros is a drop in the ocean when you're spending that kind of money on ONE pedal
+1 on this. Seems a bit pointless. But nobody listen to me, I'm still frantically trying to work out how I can justify an upgrade from a G29 and a set of CSL LC pedals. There are more pressing things to put my small amount of cash towards.
Man they totally missed again with this marketing campaign. I thought I saw it all with the hype over a software update but now this, wow a massive 200 cheaper.....
@@smithp573 From what I here, the CSL LC pedal (with the upgrade kit!!!), is not all that bad. The CSL Elite are already fairly good and you can pick them up very cheap on the used market. If you're serious about sim racing, you will wan't to upgrade your wheelbase at some point, but do yourself a favor, save up a bit and get at least an alpha mini. Don't buy those 5Nm wheelbases. They overheat and clip if you really run them at 5Nm and you will outgrow them very quickly.
Thanks Dave.. Expensive still, but its going in the right direction. Now it will be interesting to see what pricerange the Moza AP are in. Hopefully they will announce next week
There really isn't anything odd @@Michael-pi8ps, 99% of video games and product releases have embargos that reviewers can't release until a certain day. It's good for everybody because it doesn't allow the first review to come out to have a disproportionate difference
Having to find two more power sockets (preferably on a UPS where I am) and places to mount the PSUs (how large are they?) means I'd probably spend the extra on the Ultimates, if I was already OK with spending that kind of money and buying three pedals. But I guess this makes a lot of sense if you only want it for the brake pedal. For me, a huge advantage of active pedals would be the ability to swap the clutch and brake pedals depending on the type of car being driven. My knees would be much happier with a brake that was farther left, but I don't want to remove my clutch completely in case I want to use it at some point.
Agreed. And if possible make it a lot shorter as well so that the many people who have their sim rig up against a wall due to space constraints (and keeping the place tidy) wouldn't have to move the whole rig a foot or so away from the wall. Someone will figure it out, and when they do, that's who will be getting my money. Until active pedals are half the price and half the length, I'm happy to wait.
Ordered a bundle, was already itching to order the original ones so these are at least a little cheaper and 2nd gen, not cheap still but I have not heard one person who has these and is unhappy
Honest question: what is actually the point of this thing? You look at something like the simmagic haptic reactors or even just having a ABS lights on your dash and you've got similar functionality for a fraction of the price. You want vibration? A buttkicker would be better. So what's the 2k value add here? The adjustability?
@je8253 Just dive deeper in it and do some more research. Ur haptics wont make a random loadcell pedal a active pedal…i wont explain more to u just do some research. Its not that hard!
@volkarach0293 0/10 answer lol 🤭 I understand what an active pedal is. But most of the value is just adjustability if we're being honest. Most high end pedals like the p2000s I run are highly adjustable already. Moreover there are several other haptic solutions on the market for abs. So not really sure why anyone would pay 2k for this unless they want to constantly update their brake feel
@je8253 Sorry fella, but your comment is so far off the mark that it's hard to know where to even begin explaining why. As the other guy said, maybe do a bit of research (start by clicking the link to Dave's review on the Ultimate) before making daft posts.

Think of it like this. The very original pc steering wheels didn't have force feedback and only had an interna bungie to give it resistance. So, it could not respond to what the car was doing. It just gave you resistance and you and your brain did the rest. Active pedals like these are essentially pedals with force feedback and let you know what the car is doing while braking. Instead of only relying on pressure such as the original 90s wheels. These give you adjustable feedback because cars always respond differently depending on where and how you brake. Even in your daily driver the car will feel different under braking depending on other circumstances.
I don't see why they did this. Its not cheap enough to warrant the new pedal. If I were going to spend that much, 2 or 300 extra dollars doesnt make much of a difference.
110 Kg is not that much if you're using shoes instead of just socks. I have no idea why but, with shoes, you press quite a bit harder for what feels like the same amount of force you'd use with just socks.
@@davecamyt Have you tried with shoes to see if it's comfortable? When I put shoes on, I gain like, I don't know, I'd say 20-40 Kg of force for what seems like the same amount of output effort and comfort. When I used to switch between socks and shoes, I'd always find myself having to increase the brake's force when using shoes or else I'd be pressing the brake way too hard relative to my socks' settings even though I felt like I was pressing the same. Because of this massive inconsistency, I always use shoes (at least with the brake) now.

I’d argue that €287 isn’t a “lot” cheaper, more like a bit cheaper, it’s only about 15% less than the original which certainly isn’t a lot in my book!

Still way way way to expensive
Since they now need individual power supplies, does that cost more than what people save?
What is the actual pushback force in a real car? I would have never guessed it is anwhere 180Kg?
A real car you have G-Forces that will assist in apply braking pressure, so it does not make sense to match a real car for SIM.
