It is a daunting prospect to imagine no petrol bikes!! However if it is going to happen, it's good to know that there are companies like Energica that are exploring the realms of electric bikes.
A long way to go before I trade one in for my Speedmaster.

I was talking to a reasonably large dealership the other day who have about 5 shops and all sell Energica EV bikes. Up to now not one has been sold across all their dealerships. Bottom line is that before anyone tries to write off ICE tech, a viable alternative needs to be available and at the moment EVs are a very long way off from being a viable transport alternative for the masses. Personally, I think the whole EV thing is just another money making scheme, or if you like a scam. If Governments really want to reduce C02 emissions, then they need to tackle the problem at source, as in manufacturing in China, India and the USA who are mainly responsible for producing about 75% of the worlds C02 emissions. Changing to EV's is going to make bugger all difference to the rising temperature and will probably increase the C02 production due to the high C02 required for new EV bike and car production. Also most of the Government research into reducing C02 emissions are, guess what: sponsored by the Government. Clearly they have an agenda, probably similar to helping their mates like in the Covid PPE supply scandal!!!
The best way to reduce C02 emissions is to use your existing motorcycle/car and not buy any new bikes/cars unless you absolutely have too, as that will just add to the global C02 emissions. Finally, to put in place the necessary infrastructure for EVs for the masses, every road in the country will need to be dug up and bigger cables installed, plus many more Nuclear power stations will be required, plus the extra infrastructure needed between the power stations and the local transformer units delivering the 440v/230volts to cope with the extra charging demands. Can you see that happening before 2035 without massive Government financial support? I think not.
Finally. the quoted range for all EVs will be immediately reduced by about 25% when the temperature drops in the Autumn, Winter and Spring. Something else they don't tell you in the marketing blurb...

    • @redangrevival
      @redangrevival  ปีที่แล้ว +1

To be honest I am not surprised at this price!! A great fun toy if you have the money to spare.
As to global emissions and global warming I am not going to even venture commenting on it, because I just simply do not know enough about it!! I suppose maybe it is easier to try and make an electric motorcycle than to make the USA/China etc... change there ways. A very tricky world problem with no easy solution. Let's hope we find a better way for the sakes of all of us.
      More V-Twins I say 😉

Have to agree with Graham. Not sure we haven’t jumped onto the netzero proganda band wagon when C02 in the atmosphere has barely moved up. The Increase in infrastructure will bring more diverse and greener power production at scale even with transmission costs it’s more efficient and with evs being 90+ efficient it’s now recognised that the carbon footprint of evs will be offset much earlier than previously thought much better than ice ..people have spent whole lives never noticing how filthy oil production is and the destruction caused by 7 plus billion tons of Iron yearly and other less than rare materials coming out of the ground.. there’s plenty of agenda in big oil too we need oil massively just not for Burning.. infrastructure increase is to an extent off set by vehicle to grid balancing and expanded storage theres virtually no need to charge more than once a week for the vast majority of normal commuting users green energy and ev manufacturing is multi national and is already vastly diverse theres absolutely no reason for an overnight panicking switchover & the Idea that there’s now a far reaching green conspiracy by the face mask clowns and the knicker Magnet Mones is utterly bonkers ..theres already plenty of new chemistry’s ordered and in production with a price advantage that are less affected by temperature and not using cobalt too..

I'm all for the future and the environment but not to the point where a true motorcycle becomes a thing of the past. @@redangrevival I think the extra space needed and the additional weight of a transmission may be why they aren’t having them be a part of the design. They're perfect for commuting but I can't see it being very good at touring or going out for a 200+ mile run out with your mates, will they want to wait with you while you charge it up. A GREAT review Gus! I’ve never heard of that brand and I must say, a nice surprise - the bike performed really well! However, I’m extremely dubious about the claims of ALL the manufacturers regarding range and the lifespan of the batteries. I worry that we will be buying “disposable” vehicles with no residual value and anything other than a “city scooter type bike” will be financially out of reach of the average person. The majority of us can’t afford an exotic Bimota, MV Augusta etc, today, so what will change? How will we afford an electric bike in the future with wages being devalued in real terms on a monthly basis? I’m really not against electric bikes - I just struggle to see how we are ever going to make the transition. It looks as though motorcycling will become the domain of only the higher earners - just like it was with Brough Superior for example in the early days. Will it truly become affordable in the foreseeable future? … Is it just me? 😢 On a lighter note - I keep looking at that bike and seeing a cross between a Ducati Monster and a 600 Bandit… lol! 😂

The Energica Eva bikes are pretty naughty bikes. Twist and go is a lot of fun and soooo easy, people will eventually get used to it.
However, the prices would have to come down to what ICE bikes are now. The range would have to be extended, 160 miles (if true) would probably get me to Dartmoor to ride about and get home but I would be nervous. If I wanted to go to Penzance and back, I'd be stuck there for quite a while.
And the biggest problem is charging time. I can't see the technology ever catching up with 5 minutes at a petrol pump. They'll have to fit a dual battery so you get twice the range.
Lastly, these are not as environmentally sound as the government thinks. Petrol bikes are not that polluting, cars and trucks are far, far worse.

So, we put accesory exhousts for better sound and this one is having no sound at all 😒 it says everything about e-bikes for me. Also I still do not buy this concept of ineffective, super-heavy power supplies, made of huge amount of material that is not eco-friendly at all 😒 (interesting video though, thank you)

I know right!! That is a huge point that I would really miss. The sound coming from your exhaust is a massive part of motorcycling, who knows what is really going to happen in the future. Cheers

I like your channel Red, but I will not watch anything to do with electric bikes. 'Thumbs up', anyway.

Fact Is electric just isn't ready yet. Also if you use a fast charger at mcdonalds or shell it's more expensive than petrol already!! My 1 mrs 1 litre yaris is cheaoer to run and gets alot further than any electric car. So what chance do we have in 10 years? Once government see the y aren't making as much on petrol they will tax electric.

Yup I think this bike does show that it is far too expensive for the average consumer! Who knows what the future holds. I hope we get to stick with petrol!!
