Strands (Even though I know I'm about 2 years late.) Just got back from the auto show where I was able to test drive one of these. It surprised me that this was my favorite pickup truck of the auto show. I'm a big dude, and I'm normally a Ford guy, but this felt like the most "normal" truck where it wasn't like climbing into a big rig, and it wasn't full of unnecessary tech.
Thanks for the video. With both hands safely and securely on the steering wheel, I can't tell how easy it is to keep the truck centered on the highway. Please share how the truck goes straight or how the Gladiator compares with a truck (or car) with independent suspension on the highway. I hear lots of stories of drifting, is this (mostly) fixed? Thanks.
All jeeps have problems in high ways staying centered, you will have to hold steering wheel tightly or else your jeep will drift to the right or left. On high wind jeeps aren’t good either… noisy cabin as well. Not a very good vehicle for daily use. It’s good for off-roading though .
@@diymitchvlogs Ahh, nothing like spending $60k+ on a low quality, underpowered tin can on wheels and then having to spend another $2,000+ to get simply adequate power.
Strada - Nice video, I know it is a Jeep... but you drive a lot of cars and I was wondering if you can recall how you felt about the wind noise on the highway?
Coming from someone who recently went on a road trip as a passenger in a gladiator (mojave trim), I can tell you it was really bad. The large tires, mixed with the aerodynamics of a fridge, mixed with a complete lack of refinement make up for possibly the loudest road noise of any modern car. After cruising at 80 for a few hours, my ears were actually hurting.
@@mattX5 Funny enough, I ended up buying one. It’s definitely louder than most vehicles, but you get used to it. I installed an aftermarket headliner and sound deadening kit and it’s actually not too bad anymore. For what it is, it’s pretty comfortable.
@@ytrabbithole6893 Haha I guess. It’s possibly because I’m used to daily driving a luxury car that has virtually no wind or road noise even above 80, but it was almost unbearable for me to sit in there after a few hours. Additionally I drove for about half the drive, and the effort to keep up with traffic and stay in my lane was actually tiring. My buddies mojave did actually have the upgraded roof with the black sound deadening pads in the roof panels, but it didn’t seem to make much of a difference. Anyways, congrats on your vehicle and all that matters is you like it.
Merx benz yea that makes me want to buy a better off road car like Land Rover reliability may be not good according to costumer reports but I’d still take that over any jeep they are just great cars 🙂👍
After watching this I looked up lease deals on wrangler/gladiators which are surprising affordable unlike their MSRPs, but for $36,000 on a Willys you get wind up windows. Jeep really knows how to put 0 value for money in their cars and make people dish out all this cash for them. Wow.
The options can add up extremely quick. You can even get brand new Jeeps straight from the dealer with tons of 3rd party mods pre-installed. I saw one Wrangler at a Jeep/Chrysler dealer for $75 grand; $20,000+ of which was mods and accessories. You can't blame FCA if consumers are willing to pay for it.
You might wanna consider getting some ND filters. If I'm not mistaken it would help a lot with visibility trough windshield on such bright/washed out days.
Thank you for this video. After I am interested in a Gladiator, especially in the Mojave after learning about it's cool features. I can see in this video, that upon strong acceleration, the engine revs pretty high around the 6k rpm mark. But how would you say it is in regular traffic, when you move/accelerate with other cars? E.g. I can drive our Rubicon JK 2-door in most situations well under 3k rpm. I expect the heavier Gladiator will rev higher, but how high would you say is 'average/normal/everyday' high rev for the Gladiator? Thanks.
Opa, Brasil na área, orra eles falam que o carro é ruim e muito caro, imagine aqui no Brasil... Só reclamam de tudo, e nem percebem o " paraíso automotivo" em que vivem
As some who drives a semi truck for a living you drive wayyyyyyy to fast. You’re a young male with better skills than most. You need to drive for little Asian women, teen girls that can’t put down their phones, or housewives with children that are in a race to get to the Mall. And people that drive those high end vehicles have no sense of sharing the road. They think they own it. If you think American roads are bad it’s time to do some world travelling.
Seems to me like you drive this thing very spiritedly as if it were a sports car especially passing through some mailbox areas around 50mph. This is not meant to be driven like that and the result from doing so can be deadly
The Gladiator interior just looks so cool and is by far the coolest and most unique interiors for a medium sized pickup truck
It's just a wrangler
I love these Winding Road videos with commentary! More please!
He does the same reviews with commentary on his other channel. It's called The Tropher.

I like it. Not crazy about Jeep's but that 3.6 v6 has balls
…0-60 in 8.5 seconds. Doesn’t exactly have anything aside from losing to a turtle in a race lol.
@@mattX5 it’s still faster than the Tacoma

Ah shit not the ladybug
Still can't accept that this is a $61k Jeep...
I hope the Bronco keeps these MSRPs in check and not further inflate them

Sometimes when we have tinted windows it really throws off the balance. We're working on it!

I’ve never been so scared watching someone drive below 50 hahaha
Are the jeep trucks reliable?
That's what I've always wondered! 😭 if they are, I would definitely get one. But Toyota trucks are reliable for sure

For 61k why don’t they come with a hemi, I don’t get it
Lots of rattles in that cabin. Really loud wind noise on the highway too.
nice jeep!
Yeah and American Roads are complete crap, true words from this guy.
Great ride perspective! I am bored with the tacoma and looking at mojave's. Taco is great but a lame driving experience.
$44k jeep and you don't even have the right to repair it yourself. Thanks FiatChrysler.
But I have the right to repair myself. I will buy a fully loaded 2020 Gladiator Mojave anyway.

Strange contrast between the plasticky dashboard and the leather seats. Otherwise, great vehicle
It's meant to be durable and weatherproof, not really luxurious.
The lighting was really bad
The new GoPro 8 has a hard time with tinted windows. We’ve figured it out for the future
Is there any Jeep gladiators in a V8
No but we certainly wouldn’t put it past FCA to make one someday.
Based upon watching this video, (Thank you) it is apparent that the Gladiator has very bad UNDERSTEER issues
