There wasn't much that they couldn't do-straight up gravel mountains, through water that was over the hood etc. Then I was given charge of our platoons hmmwv, I was proud of it like it was my own. I used to go to motor-t to wash it and wipe it down with brake fluid. 😂
Dimensionally it's not all that large. It's only 1/4" wider than a ford raptor and its shorter overall than a Toyota Camry. When you see one in person they definitely have a "presence" but unless it's on 40's it doesn't really seem huge. Of course I see one everyday so I might be used to it.

I daily drive mine. It's never boring to drive. Mine is a bit more souped up than the one in the video but its still slow - but anytime you get 8800 lbs moving with a noisy diesel roaring right next to your knee, it's a thrill. Never gets old.
Unlike thetopher, Tedward is a great responsible driver. Always checks his mirrors and never drives too aggressively. That's what I like. Keep being a safe driver.

This is a perfect vehicle to apply the social distancing rule. There is so much space in that thing. But it’s hard to keep a social distance with other cars tho. If you don’t drive carefully, the consequences can be fatal for another driver. Specially if you hit someone in an early 2000 Hyundai Accent. Lol.

Aw c'mon. The H1 Hummer here is driven only on paved roads where any car would do. I recall my western vacations in a rented car during the H1's heyday. I saw roads that would take me where I'd like to go and was intimidated by that road's horrible condition, logging road for instance. Ooh, I wished I had one of these iron beasts to take me there. I recall reading that the H1 has high cabin noise and this video bears that out. Nevertheless it would be so nice to be in such a bad road conquering vehicle when needed.
Some owners rip out the interior trim and line it with dynamat to quiet it down. Cool and capable but it's a bit of a novelty item. Needs some refinement.
The car is too slow for such noise on the highway! cars pass it so easy, even trucks! after watching the truck passing by in the mirror, i felt that the next one is Buster Keaton running by too! 🤣 03:41
My truck has a P400 in it with a bigger turbo that makes about 280hp. It'll do 80 on the highway. Do I want to do 80 on the highway? No. First of all the tire noise is incredible. They're MT's and they're not designed to go that fast in truth. Then there's the brakes. They do not inspire confidence at that speed. Finally there's the overheating vortex created at speeds > 55mph due to the vertical windshield. In effect, the hummers/humvees create a swirling vortex in front of the truck where cool air cannot flow over the radiators. If you run your truck at 80mph for longer than an hour or so your temp gauge is going to climb. Remember they don't have Intercoolers either (unless its like mine and has an aftermarket one).

It's not exactly the vehicle you'd want to drive daily, but to be fair it was never designed to be a comfortable commuter car.

This cabin looks very tight for somebody of my height although it does have a very military, all-terrain type of drive.
With the oil price now crash through the bottom, this is our much needed saviour to keep the oil industry busy.
