      I still remember the first time I saw a skid steer clear the parking lot where I worked. Not only did it clear the snow quickly, but with a bucket it lifted it away from the parking lot. I hadn't considered that limitation of snow plows until then. It blew my mind.

    Over 30 years running equipment, that is a nice unit, the only thing I did not see it do, is to shoot the snow " behind it on the side sorta ", because in some places ( shrubs, flower beds etc.. ) you cannot shoot snow beside you, it all needs to be pulled out. A hyd. chute extension, like they have on some of the larger older blowers, would solve this problem and maybe a 2 stage type of deflector so you can throw it behind you on the side.
    For some of the larger machines, a unit like that with its own engine for power ^^, say a small turbo diesel :), 650 Indy snowmobile engine :)) course the neighbours would not like that last one much...

    I couldn't help noticing that when the blower if going forward, the augers are pulling in the snow.
    Which is what you want. But when the blower is going backwards, the augers will be pushing away the snow.
    This is likely why the videos are cut short when blowing backwards. Just my thoughts.

    • @KF1
      @KF1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the augers pull snow to the center regardless of direction. As you move forward, you scoop it up as you go. Same for backward

    • @frankthompson3495
      @frankthompson3495 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KF1 Hi,
      I meant the "rotation" of the auger. The auger is always going to rotate in one direction, regardless if the tractor is going forward or backwards. You're correct in saying that the snow gets pulled towards the center. But if the "blower" is moving in the opposite direction, and the auger is "rotating" in the same direction, how can the snow be pulled to the center ?
      It will be pushing the snow away.
      🤔

    • @KF1
      @KF1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@frankthompson3495 I can understand how you could see it that way. But it actually does pull towards the center regardless of orientation. Might be hard to visualize, because you think backwards mode means reverse rotation - but backwards mode is still the same rotation. The auger itself has not switched direction. If it did, then yes, it would push the snow out rather than in, but that's not the case.

    • @frankthompson3495
      @frankthompson3495 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KF1 Hi.
      Your thinking the opposite.
      Its not hard to visualize at all.
      I'll explain it this way.
      The blower is going in one direction (let's say forward), the auger is rotating in one direction. If its pulling snow towards the middle, that's perfect. That's what we want to happen. NOW, the blower is going in the other direction (let's say backwards). That same auger is still rotating in the same direction which is why it would be pushing the snow away.
      If it was possible to change directions of the auger rotation, then it would be pulling in the snow. I'm still not sure why you can't visualize this.
      Perhaps another reader can explain it in different words.

    I worked with lots of different snowblowers models on tractors. You can almost avoid letting small snow piles at the end of the driveway by going slower at the end and don’t turn the machine too fast. This machine solves this problem but creates a new one; look at how much snow is overflowing each side of the machine. I think this is a bigger design flaw and is almost impossible to do a clean job. A modern snowblower eats up all the snow. It seams also that the amount of snow the machine can process not impressive at all.

      Same reason any snow blower does, ground speed was to high for the snow conditions with out enough overlap in previously cleaned area. This is not a fault of the thrower but operation style/ error.
      The tracks spinning proves the operator was giving it to much forward track speed for the load in front of the machine and the traction it had. Adding side fins as the manufacturer stated helps increase overflow capacity but doesn't solve the problem of feeding material into the machine faster than it can be processed.
