I always like Slicks attitude. He's just always a "It'll be 'aight" kind of guy. That's who you want in the shop to keep the mood light, even when stuff isn't going great.
Hey guys... as an old auto parts guy I can tell you that "replacement" parts aren't necessarily duplicates of the original. The parts industry has people that they pay good money to see how much they can consolidate their inventory-- make one part fit three (or more) applications. That's why you see those fittings in the middle of those brake hoses... because another car or body style needs them, and they don't hurt anything on your application.
The sad part is even when u buy oem parts many of them are cheap Chinese parts that u get way over charged for at the dealer. Its sooooo hard to get good quality parts these days. 20 plus Yeats ago u still had a chance to get good American made quality. For example these days if u need a set of points and a condenser . Your better off finding old ones because old ones were built way better quality
Ole Theo sure looks pretty chill around all the goin ons. He was just laying out on the grass as Slick drives by. Good to see Bill as well, wish he would show up more often. Thanks for sharing 😊 everyone.
I know I’m a day or two late on this one but there’s a divider plate on the Pontiac engines between the water pump and the timing cover. A lot of times people forget it on the back of the old water pump when they change it. No matter what you do it will act like there’s air in the system without that divider plate. Found out that one the hard way.
Slicks family had great foresight to keep bird turd around for the day it could be rebuilt for a rowdy ride this is what car community is about sentimental memories ❤🍀👌
When I first saw you trying to bleed those calipers and the bleeders were facing down...I covered my face with my hands and thought...they are NEVER gonna get the air out of those calipers! 🤣
You guys did a stellar job reviving that firebird. An acquaintance had the same year with a built 400 with dual quads when I was a young lad. It was midnight blue with a dark blue interior. I loved that car. I am very proud of you guys for putting in so much effort to revive his Dad's race car.
Good to see slick looks more comfortable on camera over time. BTW since you taking Carter right now I been running an electric Carter fuel pump for about 5 years in my 83 Toyota mini truck. Was supposed to be temporary but there's nothing more permanent than a temporary fix that works.
Hey y’all that little plastic piece that is supposed to be under the radiator is also an air deflector for cooling. I think you guys get one of those and the shroud and the cooling issue will be fixed along with cleaning out the mud. Great videos
There's a sheetmetal deflector that fits between the water pump and block on Pontiacs and it's missing or rotted away. A common mistake made these days since nobody is a poncho expert any more. Google classic industries Part#F922.
I think every Gearhead in America has seen that episode of Engine Masters with the dinged header pipes,. I love the color on that Bird. Good work Gents!
I actually had a set of those flowsound mufflers. I thought they sounded good! I was screaming at my phone, "you have those calipers on upside down"! I like the old bird! Keep the good content coming I love it!
Sometimes excitement overlooks the obvious. Both Slick and you were reliving the old high school days and just forgot what you were doing. As far as the overheating problem it could be the air flow across the radiator or the lack of a shroud or just a lousy radiator. My guess is you both will figure it out eventually. Be careful and stay safe my friends God love you brother.
I was just about to comment this or something like it anyways 😂 I figured something was bent or the wheel wasn't mounted flat onto the drum, stuff happens when you're on that final stretch rushing to get'r on the pavement lol-ol-ol
Just finished my 68 firebird build last week, it’s my first car. I’m so glad more content dropped!. Very few fun videos to watch about the first gens. Fly free bird.
ive watched your videos for long time and always get a laugh in , but when slick said utt oh, please dont, and how quick he said it... i about died laughing.. i already know thats a funny conversation 😂😂
Love it when you guys tag team these projects! You guys gotta find a Bonnie and Clyde to do, a mix between the bird and the model a would be beautiful! Definitely open a can of worms with lifting the model a lol. Haven't commented in a while but haven't missed a show since I started watching a few year back right before the yee-hawl.
🗿💨 that lift helps you shine Puddin 👍 waiting on comments is the way to watch this one. And remember, Content is content,, in the words of Slick 50 ✌️😎
Damn I need this right now. My Dad had one just like this. I only seen one picture of it. He went all through it supposedly, completely re-built the car. Gold car. He's in the hospital and likely wont be with us much longer. I really hope I find that picture.
Years ago before cell phone cameras we memorized the situation before disassembly! Use your cell when disassembling something like drum brake assembly!
I had an overheating problem that after trying about all I could think of I found the lower radiator hose was collapsing internally. It looked good outside but internally it sucked flat.
43:03 best bench bleed is naked orbital sander put to the side of a filled unit. You will see instant results afew pumps and repeat. Easy peasy. Solid petal every time.
Sounds Tough. You guys worked your tails off. I can't believe how much you got accomplished in just a few days. The way you put the exhaust together was impressive. I never though about doing the exhaust that way. Keep it up.
1:08:31 I have a 69 Datsun 510 2 door sitting in my garage right now, minus the trans cooler. Half way through rust repair. That was so cool to see you use a 510 ❤😍😍😍😍. I discovered your channel because of the Datsun's. Would love to see you do a 510. They are lil rocket ships. Iykyk. C'mon!😂

Good evening from Cape Cod ⛵ I saw that bleeder facing down and I was yelling at the screen, you guys ain't listening 😂 all the work you guys did to that firebird really paid off. Now you just have to address the overheating problem. Great video guys ✌️🇺🇲

I have always kept my 'Oil LIte " hooked up. Why, when you got a gauge? Because that big red light will grab your attention FAST! and if you for any reason loose oil pressure even for a few seconds, big dollar damage can be done in seconds, so the read lite will trigger you to reach for teh key right away, saving you a couple months pay. All ya need is a 1/8 inch pipe thread tee.and wa la.
Back in the old days when I worked on these old Pontiacs we would raise the car up and go through the fender well above the wheel. It made it easier to get most of the plugs. Hope this helps for future use.
You guys make a great Fab team, enjoyed the Video as usual, you made it happen and got it back up and running, finish off the Cooling system should be a fun cruiser, tell Slick he knows his stuff when it comes to the proper finish and color. It looks Original with that satin fade look. You guys brought yourselves to School! With those calipers Lol
Guys get rid of the flex light fan. Buy and electric fan for that thing and call it a day. I mean there has to be a Junkyard fan setup you can find that will do the job. Plus the fans are pretty cheap to buy. That is a DAMN Good Sounding Car there Bub. Slick is a lucky man be able to Drive such an awesome Piece of History like that.
I had a Pontiac 400 in my Cutlass back in the day with the same cooling issue, I capped off the heater core lines at the pump and put a cooler thermostat in it and cured the problem.hope it helps

Looking forward to seeing it all the way on the running like a Swiss Watch, and by the way it sounds really good on the video!
Dude we raced an entire late model season with the calipers on upside down when we first switched from mopar to chevy back in the late 70s. I was just a kid but to this day I never let my dad forget that little fiasco. We even pulled the calipers off and used a block of wood to bleed them! 🤣🤣🤣 It happens man! I know right. I was surprised ol puddin missed that when they installed them.
Some call it a Craigslist rebuild I like to call it aerosol overhaul and there’s nothing wrong with cleaning up your ride! Love your show man!
I was doing the ol Rattle can Rebuild before people called it a thing. 😂😂
I love it when the gang is back together.
Love it when y'all work on a project together.

I agree, they certainly seem to feed off each other's energy , and it's always a treat to see Bill in the mix.

Always enjoy Monday with Pudin and Mortske!
Glad to see this car at least roadworthy. Try a different fan, and a shroud, hopefully that will fixth overheating problem!
Nice car Slick!
Wow I missed how the inside needed some love! Well done fellas👍

Hello Puddin,Theo and Slick
It's about time Slick 50 find some safety glasses. Every time he didn't in the past I would remember when I had ran out of luck.
For two guys that don't do exhaust, you two guys did an excellent job! It looks awesome.

A brake spring install tip. Use a #1 large and long Phillips head screwdriver. It let's the spring slide down onto the top pin.
Tha back left wheel in tha shot of it ye can tell its bent ah tha hub causing tae wobbly. Might wannae get that checked before too much driving boys
