  • We flew to Golden Colorado to sit down with Chris @ Yeti Cycles to chat about the all new Yeti SB140 29er. Built around the Lunch Ride platform, the new SB140 is punching in a weight class above the already capable SB120. Looks like Yeti checks all the boxes again.
"This is the mountain bike you reach for when the trail is untamed and unrelenting in both directions. "Trail bike" is a term that gets used pretty liberally in the industry so we designed the SB140 to be even better suited to go deep and find out what's on the other side"

But the price tho! 😬. There’s a a lot of great bikes out there right now. As much as I would love to own a yeti, I can’t see myself dropping $11k on this bike and not have carbon wheels come with it. Also components are all mixed with all the builds. I don’t see a full X01 build, XX1 build, GX build etc. Altho I’m sure this is an excellent bike, other brands offer really good bikes with complete X01 or XT builds etc and good carbon wheels with high end hubs for under $10k.
The ibis ripmo for example, offers an X01 build with carbon wheels, industry 9 hubs for $8,700.00
    Maybe I can find a used 29er sb140 by mid summer. 😆

Pricing will always be a barrier - and realistically is also relative. We certainly don't claim the Yeti line up to have tremendous value but I will for sure say the ride quality between this and a Ripmo is different. Whether it's worth to to someone or not is another story. The new line up rides tremendously well and that is something Yeti has always prioritized when engineering their products.

Any news on the SB 165?? Going to 170 or maybe a mullet or something ??

No news on SB165. I think it will stay the same. Unofficially you can mullet the current version and it’s loads of fun.

Hi. What is the view in the store about sizing? Reach is longer but seated position is shorter. Local yeti riders here are talking about sizing up. Any thoughts? 6’1 and between a large and an XL

So what size did you end up?

      @@sebastianmeier6543Hi. I actually had a week on both bikes… and bought a size L 120…
Ignore the geometry and go with Yeti’s size guide. It’s very good and at 186cm (just over 6’1) I was closer to a L than an XL.
I went with the 120 because the 140 is still a trail bike, it’s not a scaled down 150 (160) Enduro bike.
Weirdly, the 140 actually climbs a bit better than the 120…

Wel this makes explaining my 2021 SB140 with 27.5 alot worse.

As long as you are enjoying your bike you shouldn't need to explain it to anyone. Keep shredding!
