"Upholding a time tested, race bred ethos that says nothigng should hold a rider back from the sheer joy of untethered speed. Build off one of the most winning platforms in EWS history, the SB160 is pure race machinery. Honed for more"
This is the most in-depth video available on release date, thank you Summit!
Glad it was helpful!
Love the upgrades. Just enough to make that missile a little faster.
We couldn't agree more!
Dude, great videos always from you. Thanks. Which one would you pick between sb160 or sb140 for you if you had to have just one bike. You think you sacrifice a lot of playfulness going for the bigger bike 160? or other major differences in your opinion?
I guess the elephant in the room it’s that X2 that blowns after a week,I would like to see Yeti giving more options on suspension, like Rockshox
700+ miles on my sb150 and 400 miles on my 160e and not a single blown float x2! that includes freeride and bikeparks. several of my friends have the x2 also and no blown X2. i dont know what ur talking about lol
We see very few of those Float X2s with issues considering the amount of bikes out in the wild that have them. They are quite excellent rear shocks.
I would however agree that it would be cool to see some RockShox options on some of these bikes as their MY23 line up is AMAZING
Never had any issues with the X2.
Was hell bent on getting an SB160.. until they didn't release the raw carbon colourway!
the cobalt and radium are soooooo nice though. Try to see them in person if possible. you may change your mind
The raw carbon color looks amazing. I think the new colors are very underwhelming, especially at the price point.
You should try to check them out in person if possible. None of the press/media does them any justice. Besides raw carbon was there a color you were hoping to see?
@@summitbicycles raw carbon is one of those colours where if you graze the frame it doesn't look as bad! I won't feel so guilty grazing a raw carbon frame versus a painted one 😂
Anyone else notice he said 3 new bikes... Can't wait to see what else is coming!
Good catch
Is that a built in floss holder I see ??? Things nice I won’t lie, but legit only dentists can afford a 5k frame only lol.
@johnny bravo naa I'm a heavy duty diesel mechanic..I can afford this..
Buy the whole bike, it's a better deal. We need to get away from criticizing companies for making products not everyone can afford. Yeti doesn't even make an aluminum bike. Getting upset a premium, smaller, "boutique" bike brand makes an expensive bike is like criticizing Rolex making an expensive watch.
There's room in the cycling hobby for everyone, those who can afford the top end stuff and those who can't, and the best part is they can all ride together.
@@summitbicycles If they want to be the Rolex of mountain biking they will forever be known as the Dentist bike of choice. Rich old men don’t drive enduro. They will forever get clowned on social media. They have to take the good with the bad. I sure see a lot more YTs and Canyons out on the trails these days. Wonder who’s bottom line that’s hurting.
@@summitbicycles Why would I buy the whole bike when I've already chose the parts spec of my choice exactly the way I want it and make small upgrades over time..I change frames every couple years..Don't want to have to buy a complete everytime.
@@flow2tech Exactly what I do!! Already have a fox 38, I9 wheels, drivetrain under a year old etc. Yeti just wants to be a status symbol apparently, the Rolex of bikes I guess. Brands like Transition, commencal, YT etc sell bikes for people who want to shred on the trials rather than look cool in the parking lot.
I'm a bit tired of this trend where everybody tries to be funny all the time, and the end result is that nothing is funny at all as well as nothing is serious.
Where's the bike content...
PS: There's also some people who do bike content who somehow think it is cool to hold a beer in the hand while talking about bikes like a 14 year old high school kid. Or the other version where someone grabs a beer after finishing a build of a bike, as if that is relevant to anything.
Trying hard to be cool like teenagers usually do while being a full grown man or woman, is a complete turn off. It only makes this person look like a child with too big clothes.
This bike youtube thing is a complete mess and it's been like this for way too long now. I wonder if you ever watch your own videos ...
Thanks for your feedback on the video structure.
@@summitbicycles Blaming others for our own mistakes is for cowards. You made this video. You did. You.
@@Perception_you have the power to not watch. Why are you subjecting yourself to an experience that is disagreeable to you?
Long story short: nothing special. Same over-engineered linkage (with 0 benefits compared to a DW-link), pretty average geometry, mainly flat leverage ratio which don't work well with a coil shock (of course you can put one, but...) and "improvements" which are more like fixes of the previous version.
DW link is a great system so credit where it's due. Every suspension design out there has its compromises. Not a single one is perfect in every measurable way. If you prefer the ride qualities of DW over Switch Infinity then great. Much in the way the new Megatower was refined, this new SB160 improved on the previous generation bike. Out of curiosity what would you have liked to see them change for this new version. What bike out there is your favorite?
Thanks for your feedback and opinion!
@@summitbicycles The point is that Switch infinity is overly complex with no benefits for the rider. They do it so they don't infringe patents (DW link), but riders pay extra, thinking that it must be better as it looks more complex :) What matters are the anti-rise, anti-squat and leverage ratio values. The suspension design with which they are achieved shall be as simple as possible (that bottom link is not). That is smart engineering. So I would have liked them to ditch the Switch Infinity. More to say, but in short that's it.
And my favorite bike currently is the Canyon Torque.
Thanks for the feedback. We understand the factors that determine ride quality and the quest for simplicity. While it does look fancy, Switch Infinity is not all that more complex than a regular swing link. Maybe we agree to disagree on that one. Consumers have never before been so rich with options to choose from when it comes to high performance bikes. The Torque is a solid bike. Ride safe out there!
5000$ frame! 😂😂GTFOH!
They had to one up SantaCruz with the most overpriced rigs on the market.
