I'm 55 and fairly new to motorcycling. I rode a 125cc for around 16 months, passed my test in November 23. I bought a 2019 ninja 650 ridden it for a year now. It's comfortable, easy to ride, cheap to run and I love it
Bought the 650 2024 less than 2 weeks ago and it is fun. Powerful enough for casual usage.. Insurance is low, the price aint that high, it aint that heavy. Its good to grow skills on as a beginner and yea, it sounds a bit boring, but that is acceptable looking at all the other pro's. For someone who never goes racing on tracks its decent enough I will surely enjoy it the first few years before i consider to go bigger, if i actually ever will.
@@zoomzoomcat I say yes, but thats me. There are loads of different opinions about the 650, some good, some bad. It boils down to personal taste/preference. I can sit on it for 3 hours before i start to feel discomfort, and for highway use it is fast enough. For city use it is more than needed. Here there are speedtraps/camera's all over and i cannot imagine enjoying a 200hp rocket in a city with traffic lights ever half a mile. The 650 can do 60 in less than 4s. That should be fast enough for most i'd say. Sure, there are bikes with some more features which are nice, and yea, i do like the sound of a 4 cil engine better than a twin, would have liked auto-blipper/cruise control/etc but it ain't reason enough not to being able to enjoy this 650 imo. Best is to test drive a 650 for an hour, of even hire/borrow one for a day (perhaps test drive other alternative bikes as well to feel the difference) and you can make up your mind before spending money.
@@jg7173 i cant find a dealer who is giving test drive services here but 3 hours comfy run is already enough for me as i fell tired after 2 hours drive on my naked bike. most interesting thing of 650 is its sitting position despite its supersport look for me. thats why i want to buy a 650. thanks for answer. i think and hope im going to buy a 2025 650 next summer.
Correct, what you said at 18:02, if after a year a Ninja 650 is still worth 5K, it was. I sold mine at that price, as part exchange, 4.7K (not bad for a 2023 model with 5.1K miles on it!). I'll miss my 650, I really think it's the perfect bike to own as first big bike, powerful enough to give you excitement, but not crazy enough to put you in extreme danger. Now, I'm just waiting for my next bike to be delivered, which is a 2024 Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX Performance Edition (which I know you love, so I can't wait for mine! :D)
The top speed is actually electronically limited at around 197km/h on the speedo, about 187kph true speed. Which means that it's naked brother with the same engine, the Z650 matches it's top speed though it takes a little longer to get there. That may sound disappointing but, truth of the matter is, anyone looking at the Ninja 650 as an everyday bike and the Sport Tourer that it is, would/should never need or test it's top speed capabilities. It also means the Z650 is a very viable alternative if you don't plan taking long trips or if you don't mind the wind the few times you do, there's plenty of performance there. I saw a performance test for the Ninja 650, it accelerated off 55kph in 6th gear to 160kph no problem, you're right about the bottom end, what a great engine for an everyday motorcycle. There's nothing exciting about it and yet, it's so good in everything it will be asked to do by it's owner.
ninja 400 vs 500* review? huge diff between the two! the 450 has maybe double the torque & acc in low rev , 300/400 below 6k rpm is almost sleeping 155cc acceleration . worth a video ?
Downshifting like you did at 5:28 isn't detrimental to the bike correct? I have been reading that rev matching is the best way to downshift for the health and I wasn't sure if how you shifted here was bad for the bike in any way, I am day 3 on her and still learning some things.
No need to rev match, you can simply slowly release the clutch on downshifts and let it match, just like you'd do in a car when downshifting in a manual, you don't heel and tow in traffic do you? I learned to rev match and do it more often than not because it's fun, it absolutely is not necessary. Especially on bikes with a slipper clutch and mine does not have one and is still not an issue. If you can control your clutch to get going from a stop you can control your clutch to match the revs on downshifts by slowly releasing the clutch and no throttle application. You will hear a lot about rev matching on the internet where all the bike enthusiasts reside, how many motorcyclists out there do you think rev match and which manufacturer expects them to. Very very few and none is the answer.
Hi I hope you don't take this the wrong way and please do delete after reading it. I would be careful when uploading your video of showing yourself approaching a designated right turn road markings and then go straight forward over the junction . 1 it could get you in trouble with the law and 2 I think it sends the wrong signal to new riders who may presume that we motorcyclists are allowed to do this. My comment is posted without any offence meant. Ps: 64 yr old biker 👍
for the first bike i would recommend a 2nd hand but if you want to keep that bike for as long as possible and you are not planning to sell it than buy brand new
It does not sound good ☹️ an inline 4 sounds waaaaaaaay nicer....... It's all about emissions, give me an inline 4 that revs to 16000 and makes my ears tingle ❤ that's what I want !
cannot believe 4.33 mins in you went in a right turn lane and over took and went staright on......very bad....not a good look for us bikers, you should do your mod2 again.
It is nearly perfect for a mid level sport bike on the streets. You're crazy. Low price, strong low to mid range torque, comfortable seat and position, fairly light and maneuverable, great for city and highway. It's a great value.

You managed to make me even more excited about the bike I was already set on.
You won't be disappointed 😊
I love review 1. of my so n is going to buy this bike and I loved your review

Enjoyed the review from the US. Subscribed as you sound fair, thorough and did a great job of highlighting the bikes strengths vs weaknesses.
This is my beginner bike and I love it so much. Wont sell it even I am upgrading to a larger displacement bike ❤
Call it your forever bike !!!!
God I need one. I'm gonna start saving rn.
I wanna save for one
This is a realy good bike, have one, love it, gonna keep it

Now you’ve seen the new one would you say new riders should get a limited 650 or just the classic 400/500
Great review mate. Shame about completely motorbikes being completely bankrupt and no more. Buy local guys 😉👍

what do you think of a cagiva as a first bike?
What’s yall insurance rates looking like for full coverage?

Think you will do a review on 2024 z650?
The 24 z650 is great fun i own 1 and is my first big bike
Is it worth to buy a brand new or second hand is ok?
for the first bike i would recommend a 2nd hand but if you want to keep that bike for as long as possible and you are not planning to sell it than buy brand new
When your doing these reviews have u had anyone go up to you unscripted and ask about the bike while your doing your video?
good question ! but master goblin does not reply comments , hes too busy havin fun revving the 125cc on dem back london roods!1 yee ha!
@@maomekat2369 why does he not reply?
Does it get too warm around the crotch area? Mine does when idling and for long rides.
The ninja 650 is narrower than the r6 as the 650 is a parallel twin as apossed to the r6, which is a inline 4.
er6 & er6n!! not r6

Ninja 650 is a god-awful bike. Never will ride it ever again. Needs to be sent to hell

Its not a supersport its perfect for beginners and to daily
care to elaborate?
@@macp988 the 650 has more power than a 400/500 but would get smoked by a 600. Its good for bigger riders/ tall riders and for having passengers
