- The Ninja 650 is a great motorcycle if you don't know what kind of rider you want to be, but you think sport bikes look cool. But there are better motorcycles for most types of riding.

Supersport riders are 99% posers, and 1% genuine badasses. Easy to tell them apart. The posers are on message boards bragging about their litre bikes, and putting down other people’s rides, the REAL dudes out there never say a word. TRUTH!! I have a 2024 Ninja 650. The perfect street bike IMO. Not a track bike, but Damn this thing is awesome for the street. There’s a TH-cam video where a guy did 0-60 mph in 3.23 seconds on this thing. That’s damn respectable. Awesome low end torque in city traffic, usually ride around 175-180kph on the highway without breaking a sweat, cheap insurance, super comfortable for long rides. Talked to a guy on a gsxr1000 last summer gasing up and asked how he liked it. Told me he had the bike for 2 years and never had it above 4th gear. Literally does what I do on my 650 but for 3 times the price. He laughed and said it looks good on Facebook though. My buddy used to sell bikes at a dealership and the sales manager told him that 99% of guys who buy litre bikes are posers, and to exploit their insecurities to sell an image. The Ninja 650 is perfect for me. Banging through ALL the gears, light, great in the twisties. Just checks every box.
..you "hit all the nails on the head" my friend! I love anything with wheels period! I really don't care what others ride on or drive in unless they are humble about it, then we can talk from an engineering aspect. My son and myself own several bikes and JDM Cars... currently restoring an 87' & 93' 300ZX's. When finished, we will start a 2009 R6 Yammi and then an older SV 650 Suzi ( we need a V-twin in our stable )
@ Awesome! Just perfect dude! Be safe and enjoy the drives/rides.
I love everything about my 650 except the soft suspension. I just wish it was a little bit stiffer out of the box.
Squared up brother. I have been riding for almost 50 years and recently got rid of my Ninja 1000(good bike, plenty fast), and still have .you 07 Road King Classic. I have had dozens fast and some fat. after all of that I just wanted a real good bike. I chose the Ninja 650. In my opinion one of the best and well thought out. I recommend this bike for those who want to downsize. Perfect. It has torque, quickness, handling, and fun factor for a little but of money.
@@brucepritchard7505 ...you absolutely know what you're talking about 💪
I just got the 2025 ninja 650 and love it
Thanks for another great review. I was stationed at El Toro and rode Santiago Canyon, Ortega Hwy and other roads on my 79 RD400. So much has changed but it's nice to see the area again. My current bike is a '24 MT-09.
I still have my 2021. It is really a very good all around bike. Loving the power, torque and fuel efficiency for a 650cc bike. And yes, the sound is not so appealing even with full system exhaust but if you don't mind about it then it's great. I was about to let go of it but then I changed my mind. Buuut if you're planning to swap into inline 4 then that's a different story and I would say go for it.
-That was an excellent review of the Ninja! I've had mine since 2018 and refuse to get rid of it. It's fun & flickable, frugal on gas, low insurance, quicker than 95% of most cars out there except super cars and it's been paid for since day 1. I also own a 2023 CBR 650 and you see & feel the difference between the 2 when riding one of them. Both are excellent bikes, and well built & reliable🤔
Which one do you prefer if you had to pick one? The Ninja 650 or the CBR650?
I would appreciate if you could give your opinion on what the differences between the two bikes are.
@@KahoGeorg I own several bikes and don't particularly have a favorite. Most bikes have their own personality if you pay attention to the differences. With that said, I'll give the slight differences between those (2) and you have to figure out what type of riding you'll do. The Ninja is more comfortable to ride, quicker from 0-60 till about 3rd gear, has better gas mileage, handles better on curves and lower to insure. The CBR's engine and gears are buttery smooth, faster from about 70mph to 6th gear, slightly more aggressive seating position, and sounds better (if you like the sound of 4 cyl's)
CBR650 Ninja650
0-60 3.2secs 3.7secs (approx)
top 140 mph 130 mph
spd
gas 45mpg 55mpg
weight 460lbs 425lbs
.. I can ride all day on the Ninja! After about 2 hrs on the CBR, I have to put it back in the garage. (I'm 63 and my back isn't like it was when I was @ 23)
@ thanks a lot for the detailed feedback!
I own the Ninja 650 (2025) since a couple of months and it sounds to me like i made the right decision!
@@KahoGeorg ..yep, you did!🦾
The new MT07 is a tough competitor for this or the SV650. No fairing, obviously, but same capacity, useful for the same stuff. Now it has USD forks, a touch more sporty ergos, radially mounted calipers, flow formed wheels, the more pleasing 270 degree crankshaft...it's got so much going for it on paper.
And more fun around town! I'd just go with the Ninja for the looks (subjective) or if you do a lot of highway. But SV650 is so good too, especially with a pipe
why would you ever get those 2 when cb650r exists
@ because the CB650R is a 25 year old motorcycle with worse parts than it had back then for a premium price.
I already owned the CBR600F4, which made more power, weighed less because it had an aluminum frame, and had better suspension. It wasn't a great street bike, and the 650R is worse. The F4 was an OK track bike, but the 650R is worse at that, too.
Yo Charlie when will the Daily Motor best of the year steam take place so I don’t miss it :)
i weigh 220lb new rider
and im trying to decide either the 500 or 650, i can get the 650 for around £700 difference both 2024 models what one would you go for?
I'd imagine the 650 would be more comfortable for you
@nnoir i went for the 500. Top speed 201kmh and im happy with my decision after racing 25 650l and at no point did I see the so called extra power to weight. That being said I have x2 500 and only one is super quick (mine can hit tev limiter 202kmh & my wife's 500 can't do this. Maybe it's how break in as crf300l done 154kmh when others didn't)
Can you make comperative review of Honda CBR650R, Ninja 650 and GSX-8R ? Yes I know Suziki has bigger engine but I think that these bikes are oriented to same audience.
I think the Ninja and the GSX-R are more comparable, and I will try to do the comparo at some point. Should get R7 in there too.
@@DailyMotor yes R7 will fit better 👍 May be also Triumph Daytona 660.
@@DailyMotorI am looking to upgrade from my 250cc beginner bike lol to either the ninja 650 or gsx-8r. They both are priced similarly, but the 8r seems more future proof. Plus it offers a quick shifter and different power modes. I can’t wait to see your comparo vid lol. eta? 😬
Seems like a nice bike but its a bit pricey. The sv650 is a bit cheaper and a bit more powerful. The Ninja 650 has the fairing though.
Which windscreen worked better for you while riding: the standard screen on the Ninja 650 or the extended screen on the Ninja 500 SE? why?
The SE worked better for me HOWEVER I'm 5 8" and I believe it would be different for taller riders. I really get to fully tuck in on the 500 SE (40th)
Thank you for another great review. How would you differentiate this bike from the z650?
N650 is more beautiful and sporty imo. The only difference is z650 is a naked bike without fairings and windshield
@pookhub9290 I thought the riding position was a little bit different and that the motor is tuned slightly different but I don't know.
@@micahnewby3482 should be the same iirc, or ninja is ever slightly tucked but you wont feel it tbh
I think it is 68hp and not 64 at least in Europe.
..it's 68hp in America too, I have one
ZX4R seems more appealing to me, especially with more cylinders.
It does except for the fact in Australia you can't legally ride any zx bikes for 3yrs!!. The 500 & 650l you can ride legally though
Hola amigo motero.
Hello hope everyone is doing well just quick question I’m a beginner on bikes and I wanted to buy a ninja 650 2024 or 25 but i recently saw one 2021 with only 6k mileage I don’t know if that’s a lot for a bike or should I just buy a new ninja with no mileage?
That’s not much miles at all, I’d go for it
@ I see I saw this another bike really nice but non abs, is abs a huge factor for a beginner or no?
Konnte die 650 nicht kaufen . Habe schon die Z 400/2019/Km 100‘000.
Darum Cb 650 R dazu gekauft. Ist aber auch Kg 20 schwerer, als die Kawasaki 650.
Gruss Thailand 1959.
You always make some very valid points. However, as someone who rides daily, (in your area) I would never want to have analog displays for any vehicles going forward. It is much easier to decipher how fast I am going at a glance on a digital display, as opposed to any analog display. I wish my cars all had a digital speedometer. Please ride slower in those neighborhoods where there are homes. I wouldn't want to you to get a ticket for reckless riding. But please keep the content coming. Have a great 2025! 🎉
Is there any difference between KRC edition and normal one except the livery ?
I don't believe so
what really makes this bike hard to justify, its simple... the honda cbr 650r
Cbr650 is in my country 2000eur more expensive and ninja 650 engine is way better for Traffic with a lot more torq on low revs and more up right and confortable overall. There are bikes for everyone and i accept preference for 4 cyl (i also like them) but there is a market for Simple 2cyl that work perfectly on real world
2 very different bikes at very different price points.
They are 2 totally different bikes for 2 totally different people
Honda Cb650 r .more Weight Needs
Revs to get Going .. Kawasaki 650 Ninja Lighter More Torque Less Money
