Grigor used to hit much more topspin backhands back then. Nowadays his backhand game consists of a lot of slices. Although they are pretty effective I’d say that if he starts to hit more TS backhands like in this match he would play better and go further in tournaments.
i could watch this all fucking day. this is like christmas day. I miss this tennis. its so ideal. the aesthetcis and proper technique and variety is off the charts.
This match is interesting to me, because actually, Gregor's game reminds me of Roger's. So it's fun that i get to watch them both. It's not just the corresponding one-handed back hands, which are really great ... it's the way Gregor moves as well, to me, very similar to Roger. Thx for posting!
Dimitrov took away time.. Federer was forced to play a lot of safe shots, even on volleys which affected his confidence in going for angles. Kind of reminds me of the way Cilic played as well, forcing you to return deep and fast balls. In the end Roger handled it well, but not as well as he would have in 2017 onwards where he wouldn't have allowed Dimitrov to dictate points as much. The contrast of Roger's game here compared to 2017 is obvious. In 2017+ his service returns got significantly more aggressive and consistent with harder forehands and a levelled up backhand. His fitness improved, his volleys got sharper, more decisive/aggressive. I believe he went up a couple of grams in racquet weight and even increased it further in 2019 at the expense of increased topspin difficulty. This allowed more consistent backhands as he could comfortably handle harder shots on that side. It's a shame Federer went for a prettier more technical game vs early career where he went for a lot of winners and hit harder. It took him going back to a hard hitting game to win his last 3 slams.
Grigor beat Roger only once in the US Open QF of 2019 , I say this as the biggest Feder fan around 2017 was an '' Indian summer'' for Roger one last burst of Roger as his absolute best as he was very much physically past it. He was older and slower so the emphasis on dictating points increased as he could not consistently defend as well as he did pre 35. The reality is he handled it better when he was younger and had faster feet seeing Grigor couldnt beat him before 2017 but did so after it
say what you want about Dimitrov, but you gotta give him credits for playing very similar to Federer, especially the forehand. That style is like a dying breed on the tour now, maybe Alcaraz's forehand is similar. But it has more spins and doesnt penetrate as deep as Dimitrov's or Federer's.
@@GallantryGaming But the old schools tough more 1HBH. I have been playing for 40 years and I have 1HBH. The 1HBH are fun to watch not that bunch of crippled now. You seem like 20 and of course a crippled 2HBH.
I always held in higher regard players with a one-handed backand. Dimitrov's is among the best. Surprised he hasn't gotten a GS title. This isn’t war. This is art.
The art of war 😅
If someone is new to tennis they will probably feel that they are watching the same player
A great chinese book@@rogersalllike9133
...
War is a horror..this a contest of will, skill, focus, shot making and athleticism.
This has to be some of the most sublime tennis i have ever seen. Thank you for bringing this match up
15 mins is not enough.
love this match - no grunting, no excessive celebrations - mutual respect by the combatants
And neverthelrss there's relentless tennis like in a carpet court...
no antics displayed as well. just pure tennis and beautiful strokes.

The beauty of the single-hand backhand
The footwork is absolutely mesmerizing.
The essence of tennis in its purest form.
My god!! Federer's aces in the clutch moments are unbelievable!!
This is like Ryu vs Ken in street fighter.
Wow wow wow. Both forehands are deadly. As were backhands. Federer took it up a notch
Those are the days ,War of single back hand..🎾🎾🎾🎾🏆
i could watch this all fucking day. this is like christmas day. I miss this tennis. its so ideal. the aesthetcis and proper technique and variety is off the charts.
Over 2 years since Roger retired and i still miss his GOAT tennis. The only Maestro💜

God! what an amazing game! Thanks to post it.
Two of the best one-handed backhands, if not the best. I do enjoy seeing Wawrinka's backhand a bit more, it seems to be more intimidating.
Dominic theim right up there
notice how neither of them are putting their hands to their ears and waving the crowd for more cheering after every point/??
When Roger Federer vs Roger "Mini" Federer
Dimitrov took away time.. Federer was forced to play a lot of safe shots, even on volleys which affected his confidence in going for angles. You wonder if Federer ever wondered what it would be like to play a match against himself.
It looks like he was playing himself. Roger is playing an excellent student of his own game.
Roger vs baby Roger
I thought for the first few seconds the guy in red was roger
Talk about power hitting!
Bro, that's great upload, but please change the title WHEN TENNIS TURNS INTO ART 🙌🎾🤩
Dimitrov is Roger's biggest fan. That's why is called baby Federer. He plays exactly after Federer style.
The Artists!!
El maestro contra su mejor discípulo
14:03 We all know Grigor's backhand is amazing, but this point shows how brutally perfect his forehand can be
Think Federer has better balance, anticipation and shot selection. Also his court position is more aggressive.
Dimitrov feels like an unfinished or ripe Federer. He looks like having similar potential but lacking that final stone
Watching really out into perspective how similar their play actually is. Dimitrov modeled his entire game after Roger’s and it shows in this match.
maybe that final stone missing is 20 grand slams experience lol. the mental gear he lacks. still a treat to watch.
Thanks for the upload 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 Superb match ❤❤
This is tennis, both hugging the baseline, aggressive play n just looking for a small openings ❤❤❤
So beautiful to watch
Beautiful match

fed was like... lets give em a good show, heres ur 1 set kid... lol
when grigor actually hit his backhand instead of slicing it 9 out of 10 tiems
Tenis de altísimos kilates....El maestro jugando con su propia sombra. .
When Tennis was Tennis, not the bunch of crippled 2hbh matches we see now.
LMAO. 2hbh have existed since the beginning of Tennis. What are you, 12?
@@GallantryGaming But the old schools tough more 1HBH. I have been playing for 40 years and I have 1HBH. The 1HBH are fun to watch not that bunch of crippled now. You seem like 20 and of course a crippled 2HBH.
Great match❤
2016 AO fed is underrated. If he hadnt ran into Djokovics best AO people would have regarded him much higher
Can’t tell who’s who
It's like Ken vs Ryu in street fighter 2
So true!
Sublime tennis, but your “war” title is a poor choice of word.
When you hit a slice, it makes no sound.
bro i swear you have sped it up a fraction.
No they’re just playing with full aggression, you don’t see that a lot from Djokovic esque players
There would be no need but they do it. Execrable
yeah its definitely sped up
Ah, they didn't blur the names out.
Congrats!
Et Dimitrov cette année à la place de RAFA à la Laver cup dans l'equipe EU
One handed backhand is more gentle for men
Single back hand game 👍
All the fun has gone when roger gone
I sould love tennis to be always like that and not always defensive pssy players winning it all.
Karthik calling Karthik
Wow, Federer style of tennis seems to be handed down to Dimitrov 😮😮🤔🧐🌹
this year federer lost djoko 6-1 6-2 in 40 min ?? first 2 sets
Roger el mejor de todos forever
This video's title is very bad.
Rf ! What else ?!
So basically roger vs roger
12:24 that is tennis pornography! Utterly delicious backhands here, and Dimitrov's winner is stunning
Nothing extraordinary with this game. Lot of direct errors and boring...
Dimitrov plays like Federer
I always held in higher regard players with a one-handed backand. Dimitrov's is among the best. Surprised he hasn't gotten a GS title.
