    Sometimes if theres air in the coolant system it will cause it to run hot u have to bleed the cooling system to get all the air bubbles/air out. Nice truck!

      How you bleed it out

    So that's what a fan shroud looks like. I started with what I thought was a leaking lower hose and found out it was really leaking from the back of the water pump, quick water pump change along with thermostat and upper hose over heated on my way into town, got parked it was tea kettling on me, heater hose into water pump pin holed under the clamp, quick fix, got it home still wants to over heat so its back flush the triple core radiator, and see if that fixes the damn thing. Been told it might be air in the system,

    Coolant runs out thermostat to rad,bottom of rad back to engine. You had it backwards and likely didnt need water pump.

    Well have this same issue .. someone threw together a old hot rod I was wild and crazy enough to buy it..I noticed the heat would climb fast with just a few minutes ..it got real bad in traffic..red light after red light eventually blown the head gaskets and couldn't keep water in it...better heads and gaskets later the temp still creeps above 200 -220 .... just as I thought...I hate that radiator to begin with ..no trans cooling lines at the bottom ..it's on the cheap side I believe

    Anyone know where to start if the coolant temp gauge isnt reading? Ive got an 83 k10, the temp has never worked. Its on the list to fix, figured id throw the question out to anyone that could help.

    Overheating after idling for 15 minutes... The fan is turning at a slower speed (obviously), but I think I would have replaced that plastic fan blade first. Even with the shroud, that blade is less than desirable

      It doesn't have a clutch so it's going the speed of the engine.

      He should put the shroud back on and get the correct fan and clutch. It's what I'm doing to my c20 currently

    My truck don’t overheat until 3 hours later while I’m driving, I’ve left it idling for 2 hours before and it didn’t overheat, I don’t get it

    So what was the problem? Radiator?

    no thermostat would make it run colder not hot

    • @Ford-ye2ys
      @Ford-ye2ys  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you explain that

    • @racer67
      @racer67 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Not necesarily true without a thermostat it just keeps flowing ends up just being flowing hot water, the thermostat closes to give the water/antfrz time to cool in the radiator then opens to let cool water in the engine!

      @@racer67 in theory yes. But it’s the same way they cool nuclear power plants. My 454 pre rebuilt ran 260. I would stop and yank the thermostat out. It got to 180 hour after hour of towing in the Arizona desert. I put it back in winter. My new engine is starting to run hot since the temperature is up. I guess I’ll yank that one out too. Don’t do it if you only travel under 20 miles then it will bore wash

    How come you didn't drain some of the coolant so you wouldn't have a mes? But good video thanks.
