I have an '06 Charger SRT8 and absolutely love it. I have not raced it yet but have seen 150 mph on the freeway at night. It had lots more but the road was not conducive to going any faster. Nice run man.
I'd recommend doing a lot of lurking on Hemi forums and learning everything you can about the engine and what makes it work. That's what I did to try and figure out what makes the 5.9 in my Dakota R/T tick, and I've learned an unbelievable amount from that community. Popular Hotrodding also has some good articles about new Hemi builds that have good technical details. My impression is that the Hemis are expensive to build but have awesome head flow out of the box. Good luck on your build!
Damian, The trims are as follows;
SE - 2.7l V6 (garbage)
SXT - 3.5l V6 250hp (High Output)...meh
R/T - 5.7l V8 340hp (HEMI)
SRT-8 - 6.1l V8 425hp (HEMI)
Yes you can make the 5.7R/T as fast or faster than the SRT-8 HOWEVER if you do the same work to the SRT it will once again shit on the R/T... Your best bet would be to get the SRT!! They aren't too expensive. Good luck.

All SRT cars don't have a limiter. Also stock for stock a 392 will slay a 6.1. He's moving pretty fast because his car is Procharged.
@@psychologicaltirefire8190 yeah what i meant was they say how the chargers are drag limited to 175 mph - all 3 generations of the srt8/392. But the charger is more aerodynamic than the challenger yet the challenger can get to 182 mph🤔

Awesome! I hit 193 in my 06 300c srt8. I've got a sixth gear when I'm in auto mode tho. My 5th switches to 6th at about 170mph. No body believes that these 4,000+lb cars will bury the needles.

It's literally a 5 speed. It does not have a 6th gear. Not unless you have a custom transmission installed

I'm not really in the LX/Hemi community myself, but off the top I think lxforums is a good resource. The cars are new enough I hear there's still a lot of the kind of people that like pimpin' rims and silly things like that, but you should be able to find serious performance enthusiasts.
The only technical suggestion I have is to invest in a strong bottom-end. The 5.7 is strong for the stock output, but I think I remember hearing that a bit beyond that you may start to break things.
It might just be me, but I thought I heard the car plowing through the wind at speed. That' s like being buffeted by 180 mph winds; you're going to hear them quite well. And I don't you'll ever find 180 mph winds blowing around near dyno facilities.
No but they do use high-speed fans on dynos.

Buy an RT 5.7 Hemi put an exhaust on it delete the muffler delete the cat put a cold air kit on it and put a hundred shot of nitrous on it it'll be plenty enough just make sure you use a quality Dyno tuner to make sure everything is set up right it'll move out

Actually i have a stock STOCK 06 SRT8 Charger and i top out at 175mph. If you don't believe me i can make a video showing my car and me topping out the car.

@kaos451srt8 I think that my comment was misunderstood. I do not like Honda's at all, I do not drive eco boxes. I was telling the person that drives a honda that since he can not handle speed that he should stick with his slow honda. I prefer American and European cars.

ReachWins Dodge claims the 300, Charger, Challenger V8 trims have no limiter/ Governor.
Every vehicle I've ever had, had a speed Limiter. My 06 gto 6.0 6spd was at 157, my f250 was 96-98 my ranger was 102 and my 4runner was 115
I am not trying to be rude, but that is why you should stick with a Honda, if you can hanle high velocity. :)

stock srt8 or modified? if modified whats top speed stock?
SUB-ZERO he has 600hp in it, top speed stock for these cars are 174mph+, that's the Charger, Magnum, 300, and Challenger SRT8 trims. The R/T trims top out at 150mph+ stock. I added the plus sign because many people have done 160 for the R/T and 179-180 for the SRT8.
