We gotta hand one thing to Dodge: when the Camaro died and all we had was the Mustang with the 3V motor, Dodge made the 6.1L. Nobody else during that time period made a V8 that made over 400HP. Even the 5.7 of that era had the 3V Mustang beat in power and torque.
That gt500, barely made more power supercharged. The 6.1 is capable of more. I just sold an 09 challenger srt8 6.1L or 12k. The cheapest gt500 are 20-25k. 6.1 is underrated and currently undervalued on the market.
I have a 2009 SRT8 automatic that Ive had for little over 2 years now. It's got a little over 15,000 miles on it now. Was not driven much by the previous owner. I bought it with 7.800 miles on it. One thing in your video here that I've noticed is you may, or may not know is that you still haven't experienced the full power of the 6.1 your traction control is not off. Three months after owning mine I found out that to turn it completely off you have to push and hold the traction control button at a dead stop. doing that turns off all traction and stabilization control just giving it the full power. On a sidenote, that just wasn't enough power for me so I put a Kennebell 2.8 L supercharger on mine. With proven Dyno records of 540 wheel horsepower making it 630 to the crank currently. But oh we are not done lol. It's supposed to go in and get fully forged, headers, cam, valve upgrade and etc. After the motor work, it should be pushing well over 750 to the wheel making a stock hellcat run like a kitten next to mine lol. If you're gonna build a motor, most people use the 6.1 as a base block, it's the best one to use.
It's not pulling power unless it's detecting wheel spin. At top speeds it's not pulling any timing. But when you are gooning around in lower gears at slower speeds yes it absolutely will step in and cut ingnition timing and anything else it needs to, to maintain traction. I bet your 6.1 with a KB on it is a monster. I am running a 2.3L Magnuson on my 392 and she's a lot of fun. :)
Thanks for the video. Beautiful car with classic colors. Effortless acceleration and effortless high speeds. I love the low interior cabin noise at ultra high speeds; very surreal. If you take good care of this car, it will last forever with very few problems. Nobody needs more than 425 HP. These cars with 800+ HP are just downright dumb and dangerous for public roadways. Love the car and jealous that I don't have one of my own. I prefer chrome rims over black rims, but to each their own. Please be careful when passing people at extreme high speeds because the extreme loud sound and intense pressure wave that the car creates as it travels past can be very jolting to some drivers. It will actually cause the slower cars to violently rock back and forth; similar to a concussion wave created by a grenade. You don't want to cause someone to have a heart attack when having some fun.
Please don’t dust the cops…. If you get caught trying you will wish you just pulled over and took your ticket in the first place. Or worse…. Kill your self or someone else, please don’t
I had a 2010 srt8 in go mango body color. And that was an awesome car. I made 160 mph on it. I really like its interior, more than new challenger ones. It was very simple and outdated for 2010 car, and reminded me old challengers. Anyway, challenger's body style is out of time.
6.4s are about a second faster 0-60, and 2 seconds faster on a quarter mile. However, neither the 6.1 or 6.4 are good drag cars (dodge builds for drag in mind). You will be gapped by 80% of the people who drag race, they are just too heavy of a car. But, horsepower per dollar spent, the 6.1 is second best, and the hellcat is the best horsepower per-dollar. 6.1 is 425 horsepower at $20,000, and 6.4 is 480 at $40,000. If you really want to race, get a hellcat. Also, don’t buy a 6.1 thinking you can turn it into a hellcat, you’ll just end up paying more to build than if you just bought a hellcat, and still not achieve the same performance. Take it from a 6.1 owner. I’m building mine, but not for racing but a specific look and sound. Which is why I’m going for performance cam and headers, with a new paint job over a supercharger.
Interesting. I own a Dodge Challenger Srt8 2008 Hemi Orange 6.1. These cars were built for a track. And straight line. My friends have a Scatpack and Hellcat. I beat them both from a dig and 40 roll in an 1/8 of a mile. Only because they can't hook. So maybe you're getting gapped but not me.

6.1 is one of the most underrated engines of all time
The beast under the hood....good video!!
The 6.1 litre was the Scatpack Before the Scatpack 👌🔥
No it was the srt before the srt
@alexlubin4424 these were SRT8 models at the time.
Don’t think you know what a scat is lol
Almost a decade and a 1/2 later and people still buy this beast of dinosaur platform
LX cars will be certainly missed (at least by someone). Good feel just to float the boat down the road...
Yah that’s true lol. I guess if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. There is obviously still a big demand from America😅

You can literally swap the modern 8 speed transmission into this car or any Mopar before 2015

6.1s will still dust cops too just gotta know how to drive
Exactly, it’s pretty much on any car (don’t recommend to run from cops) you need to know how to drive
Please don’t dust the cops…. If you get caught trying you will wish you just pulled over and took your ticket in the first place. Or worse…. Kill your self or someone else, please don’t

Sick ride
I think there’s a huge typo with the “turbo” petrol engine hahahaha
I'm gonna get this car when I grow up

Hey quick question, the speedometer. How did you get that in KM/H? Because normally it's in MPH with big text and KM/H with a very small text.
Obviously it's European spec
Actually its canada spec
Super drive
Not a turbo engine btw
6.1 turbo ????
172mph in a stock Dodge Challenger SRT8? I knew they were fast but this…… wow.
Hello! Question: where can I buy a dial in km/h?
@@volfrum_so2 this dodge was from canada, so dial should be there at canada part market
please do a 2022 honda odyssey

the 6.1 should had been in the scatpacks, scatpacks would had way more unique, rare and still push n 425HP.
Holy moly!
i would have to drive it to see if it changes my mine bc i really dont like the steering wheel
Hate it
Get a 2011 or later model they changed the steering wheel and motor to a 6.4 liter instead of the 6.1 liter.
Why don't you shift?

No, it’s not a “shiftable automatic” lol. That’s the parking brake, not the clutch lol…
