I was contracted to provide AC power for the production of this movie. They took so long on day one to shoot the first frame of the party scene that half the cast (all unpaid students) just walked out. They asked me to be a character in the dance scene because they needed bodies to fill the frame. I am the big guy in the yellow shirt in the background dancing(?) with my GF. I am wearing the cowboy hat. The "star" was scared to do a sword and pitchfork scene as he had to climb the stairs to the elevated platform you see backwards. Hy was about 5 ft 0 and I am 6ft tall. They wanted me to put on his costume and do the scene. No money? no thanks. Weirdest day of my life- to that point.
i know im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a method to get back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot the account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
Never heard of Hy Pyke but honestly I think this performance is legendary! Campy, creepy and fully-committed. That laugh should be a horror meme up there with Linda Day George's "Bastard! Bastaaaard!" scene in "Pieces."
The cackling scene just kills me! Hack-O-Lantern looks similar to Manos - The Hands of Fate in terms of randomness and unintentionally funny scenes. I need to see this movie!
One of my horror buddies found a guy selling copies of this on dvd and he bought one. We watched it and it's wildly entertaining because of how AWFUL it is! The scene with grandpa laughing with Tommy outside the window is just pure stupid fun, as is the rest of this flick. In fact, I think I'm going to order a copy of this myself soon. Thanks for the review Cecil!
@resmediamarketing Thanks! Padding can be done to a point of where it doesn't feel like padding. If you do one long driving shot that is fine but when you do it every other time you realize they are just filling space. Good luck with the movie, what genre are you doing? Hehehe, the director must have had some skills in the lady department. Either that or he just offered them more money.
Thanks! I was planning on doing Samurai Cop (as well as Vampire Cop and a few other "cop" movies...maybe I'll make it a theme month). Birdemic is a definite...that is one of the greatest unintentional comedies I've ever seen. The Room is pretty painful, I don't think I'd be able to do anything with that one though. You too!
Oh come on, "Just one of the Guys" isn't a bad movie! It's solid 80's cheese! Not a great movie by any means, but definitely doesn't deserve to be compared to "Troll 2" and "Manos: The hands of Fate!"
Double- Jay did I say Just one of the guys was bad? Its been so long I don't remember. I think I may have just thrown that in for a friend of mine who I know hates the movie, I actually think its pretty funny
I wouldn't go as far as saying JOOTG was a 'bad movie. It was average for the 80's and memorable, and had the kind of unexpected nudity everyone loves.
I had said something similar there is no way in the world those two movies or this movie is anywhere in more entertaining then just one of the guys not even close
You should check out Red State. It is a look at the bible thumpers in a way that has them more in line with what most people think Satan Worshippers are like. Religion seems to draw out the crazy. Oh, and this movie is hilariously cheesy. Its hard to find a copy but I think someone posted the whole movie on youtube.
In the early 90s there was a movie review book that listed this twice, once as "Halloween Night" and again as "Hack-O-Lantern"; a.k.a. "Halloween Night". The review scores were different and so was the cast list (aside from Hy Pyke), plus one was dated 1987 and the other 1990. It even listed different directors so for several years I thought there was actually TWO movies called "Halloween Night" both starring Hy Pyke. I wondered why I could never seem to find the "other" one.
Hy Pyke's laugh was epic. Reminds me alot of Vincent Price...if he was drunk. But yeah this movie seems fun. I think it would've been 10 times better if it was a shortened to being an episode of tales from the crypt. Or even Goosebumps.
@dornravlin He played Taffey Lewis, one of the side characters. While Blade Runner wasn't particularly big when it first hit theaters (It opened against ET) it has since gone on to be a massive cult classic and is often cited as one of the greatest sci-fi movies of all time.
Man, House of the Devil was such a great flick. The shooting scene actually made me jump because of the way it just happens with absolutely no telegraphing. Ti West is definitely one of the better horror directors of this generation.
I like the way you talk about the padding they did to fill it out...We're currently in pre-production to do a no/low budget movie and we're thinking of padding ideas also! But to not be so cheesy,. Haha. I also like the way you talk about how he got all the girls in it to take off their clothes...Lol.
Great reviews man! I like your style of reviewing. I would appreciate if one day you make a review of the cinematic catastrophes like "The Room" "Samurai Cop" and "Birdemic: Shock and Terror" Those are my favorite cult hits..I don't know if you would be able to struggle through these, unless you have some booze with you and buddies around. However, maybe one day you can review one of these :) Have a great day! :)
@adamjcantu Outstanding! I have tons of obscure movies, most of them never made it past VHS. I also got many of them from flea markets, ebay, etc. Back when Blockbuster was closing down West Coast video and Hollywood Video stores, I would snatch up all the movies they were discarding.
GoodBadFlicks I have seen plenty of comments about YMS, nothing about RLM, so I figured I would mention them just in case people didn’t know about them.
This might very well be the greatest movie ever.... Movies like this make me want to do a MST 3000 reboot, (And put this before end of video, so funny you brought that up also)
I can totally see Rifftrax doing this movie at some point. They've done a few movies you've covered I think, plus a few that Redlettermedia has covered.
7:46 Cinema Snob said something like that too, as if it were a random killing for no reason. But the woman said she was going to take the cop home with her. The cop is the killer's son, so if she's doing it to "keep her family" then it's not much different than killing her daughter's boyfriend.
OMG, this movie looks so fucking hilarious!! BTW, what part did Hy Pyke play in Blade Runner? Lol, well, I wasn't aware that Just One of the Guys, is considered a bad movie.
I actually really liked the movie. I saw it for the first time a few weeks ago with a work friend and I thought it was pretty decent for such a low-budget and obscure film. I completely lost it when the chick started washing herself with the spider 😂😂😂
House of the Devil was fantastic, shot so well and I suspect on old film stock (if not they did an amazing job colour correcting it) I had a hard time believing it was not a late 70s made movie.
Yeah, to me it looks like a pretty bad film all the way around, as the scenes highlighted here seem very awkward, the dialogue forced (and at least to me the performers seem reluctant at times to say the lines required), and the stylistic approach questionable in spots. I'd totally watch this fun hot mess!

were you the guy on the right around 06:35?
you're famous forever, now.
i know im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a method to get back into an instagram account?
I somehow forgot the account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
@Caiden Khari instablaster :)
Your reviews are the best!!! It makes me appreciate bad movies... And look at them in a diffrent way
GetBaesEveryday1232 Thanks!
Never heard of Hy Pyke but honestly I think this performance is legendary! Campy, creepy and fully-committed. That laugh should be a horror meme up there with Linda Day George's "Bastard! Bastaaaard!" scene in "Pieces."
When I went to the urologist last week, he said I had a Jag Mundra in my Hy Pyke.
This is the Troll 2 of Halloween themed horror films. It's so freaking fun.
The cackling scene just kills me! Hack-O-Lantern looks similar to Manos - The Hands of Fate in terms of randomness and unintentionally funny scenes. I need to see this movie!
***** its not quite Manos bad because the movie does at least move along. It is very weird but entertaining in its own way
I've been watching the Cinema Snob for years now and this was very unexpected and cool. I'm honored he would mention me!
"Grandpa" was actually channeling the "legendary" Dukie Flyswatter for his character. "If your going to cackle, give'em some to remember !"
The American Panzerfaust You're welcome! This movie is a fun mess!
@@GoodBadFlicks The cackling...outside the window...sweet Jesus. Great review.
Binge watching your reviews again, thank you for what you do, I appreciate it.
These reviews are the best thing on TH-cam. GREAT taste in film.
We don't like trespassers around here.
@resmediamarketing Thanks!

You too!
This movie is amazing for Bad Movie nights. Hy Pike's performance had my whole group falling out of their chairs with laughter.
I can't be the only one thinking Grandpa's cackling sounds like a bad imitation of the Vincent Price laugh from the end of Thriller
Oh come on, "Just one of the Guys" isn't a bad movie! It's solid 80's cheese! Not a great movie by any means, but definitely doesn't deserve to be compared to "Troll 2" and "Manos: The hands of Fate!"

Yeah, that's what I was saying, lol. I actually thought Just One of the Guys was a great movie.
It's not a bad film..,I agree.... really a interesting plot and idk I liked it back in the day.... just my opinion.... Peace
We are still watching! You're the best.
:)
Hahaha Harvey Fierstien? That was fantastic.
You should check out Red State. It is a look at the bible thumpers in a way that has them more in line with what most people think Satan Worshippers are like. Religion seems to draw out the crazy.

HA this was always one of my favorite of your videos
I had so much fun with this silly movie :)
This is being released to blu ray and dvd from Masscare Video this year
missnycsparkles I'm buying it
Thanks! It was unexpected and totally cool. Brad is great.
Can we get a review of Buttslammers 11? Asking for a friend.
The Who "Tommy" reference had me dyin
there is a remastered version of Manos coming next year. I'll probably do something after that is released.
@adamjcantu Thanks! This one is pretty rare, I don't know many people that own it.
Nice review but what do you think about having your show mentioned by Brad Jones in his own review of this epic masterpiece
Hy Pyke's laugh was epic. Reminds me alot of Vincent Price...if he was drunk. But yeah this movie seems fun. I think it would've been 10 times better if it was a shortened to being an episode of tales from the crypt. Or even Goosebumps.

The grandpa sounds like IT in the begging. Or is it just me?
@EffectiveKill I didn't even think of that! Now I need to go back and watch the movie again, I think he says something about the "dark side".
Man, House of the Devil was such a great flick. The shooting scene actually made me jump because of the way it just happens with absolutely no telegraphing. Ti West is definitely one of the better horror directors of this generation.
Finally a video where you at least bring up Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.
Grandpa looks like Mike Myers
its pretty funny if you have a group of friends together to riff on it. Grampa is a riot!
I lost it at Buttslammers 11!! 😂😂😂 Like I couldn't breathe. That was awesome.
The villain was Taffy Lewis in Bladerunner, if anyone was curious...
Sweet. Love that film.
Was that his only acting role? Lol
Other than, this movie, I mean, lol.
I like the way you talk about the padding they did to fill it out...We're currently in pre-production to do a no/low budget movie and we're thinking of padding ideas also! But to not be so cheesy,. Haha.
I also like the way you talk about how he got all the girls in it to take off their clothes...Lol.
not really a fan of his, thankfully he seems to have gone away
i always suspected that Coors Light was evil!
Are you saying Just one of the guys is a bad film??!
I'm about to go check this out at a drive-in tonight!
Wow!! They have drive-ins in your town??!! I thought those were all gone!
Brandon Page if you ever spend a summer at Cape Cod there’s a drive in.
Ill be honest, the song Devil's Son started off pretty catchy.
Have i really watched all of your other videos that it sent this in recommended??
Is grandpa Taffy Lewis from Blade Runner?!
Yep
Hy Pyke really reminds me of Ernest Borgnine from the Devil's Rain.
Have a great day! :)
That was the universal sign for 'Arthritis in both hands'.
@adamjcantu Outstanding! I have tons of obscure movies, most of them never made it past VHS. I also got many of them from flea markets, ebay, etc. Back when Blockbuster was closing down West Coast video and Hollywood Video stores, I would snatch up all the movies they were discarding.
How come RedLetterMedia is never brought up in comments? You guys go over the same movies in completely different ways. Its great!
I see them brought up all the time! We cover a lot of the same material in different ways :)
GoodBadFlicks I have seen plenty of comments about YMS, nothing about RLM, so I figured I would mention them just in case people didn’t know about them.
@MrSTVR Totally! Good catch!
Buttslammers 11 is actually a beautiful romantic comedy. Very deep moments and wonderful happy ending
Can you please do a review on the remake of my bloody valentine I would love to know your thoughts on the remake
Cecil, would you ever consider doing an exploring video on Microwave Massacre?
wow, now thats all I hear, it totally is Shout at the Devil (albeit, a bad knockoff)
11:02 Was waiting for his eyes to turn yellow.
@Iruleyoufail Thank you!
Unintentional comedy is the best comedy
This might very well be the greatest movie ever....
Movies like this make me want to do a MST 3000 reboot,
(And put this before end of video, so funny you brought that up also)
I can totally see Rifftrax doing this movie at some point. They've done a few movies you've covered I think, plus a few that Redlettermedia has covered.
EarthboundX I would love to see them do this, although there is a lot of nudity and they tend to avoid that
GoodBadFlicks
They've actually done a few movies now that had nudity in them.
7:46 Cinema Snob said something like that too, as if it were a random killing for no reason. But the woman said she was going to take the cop home with her. The cop is the killer's son, so if she's doing it to "keep her family" then it's not much different than killing her daughter's boyfriend.
what part did he play in blade runner also i didnt thing blade runner was perticuler poular cause it flopped
10:06 died laughing hahahaha lol hahaha lol ha
your reviews are awesome.
House of the Devil was fantastic, shot so well and I suspect on old film stock (if not they did an amazing job colour correcting it) I had a hard time believing it was not a late 70s made movie.
One thing Kubrick sure got right with his devil cult movie were the bewbs. I wonder if Hack O Lantern was his inspiration? lol
I'm fucking terrified of Harvey Fierstein
Can you list all scenes in your Intro? That would be sick.
Haven't seen this one; must add to my list! Just my kind of 80's cheese!
Double- Jay you might want to wait a little bit, its going to be released on DVD and Bluray this summer. Right now its only on VHS
Niiiiiiiiice!!!
Brian (the sister's boyfriend) is, to my surprise, not John from Miami Connection. At least IMDB says he isn't. There's a strong resemblance.
Hy Pike is over the top
Grandpa sounds like a Zach Galfinakis character
please Hammer, don't hurt'em!
I liked grandpa laught.
Roger has the best hair in the film.
OH GOD, MANOS THE HANDS OF FATE, THE HORROR, THE HORROR!
It's an unintentionally funny horror classic! Lol
I love Satanic Grandpa :-)
Unintentional comedy :D haha
Devils Son is an awesome song, and theres a TON on nudity in this movie.
TH-cam @ 3:08 when they fuck over and demonetize a hard working channel like GoodBadFlicks.
Granpa sounds like Pennywise
Tommy is Mac's dad on Its Always Sunny. He's much scarier in that show than this movie.
Would you say it is America's answer to "The Final Sacrifice"?
01:35
" OH BAD TOUCH "
but dont we all wanna hang out w/girls w/no pants on?
What kinda house has a bathroom with a door outside ? 😂
I forgot about Harvey fierstein.
Anything that features Satan works for me. Hail the dark lord.
Yeah, Pike sucked. But I'm trying not to picture him a clown costume playing penny wise. He would have given Tim a run for his money.
Actually Coors light is definitely on tap in hell
what I really want to know... is what happened to buttslammers 1 through 10.
This looks like a great date movie, if you hate your date.😀
Anti-Krusty?
2:50 Patton Oswalt?
the guy who was the villain in this movie funny hell Jared from supernatural would have been better in this movie
@radioblueheart I lol'd hard
