      So in a Russian manicure the file gently lifts up the cuticle and she cuts the dead skin off the top. It is not an open wound and is important to keep the product on the nail which will reinforce the mail plate as it grows out. It would be more dangerous to leave the pushed back dead cuticle as it would dry and become hang nails, or cause lifting.

    If this happens to you the first thing I suggest is remove all of your nail polish, acrylic, gel, or false nail because it can harbor more bacteria and to clear the view of the entire area of the nail to see how infected it is. I highly recommend DO NOT GO TO THE NAIL SALON until the infection is cleared up. These infections can go away on their own or you may have to take a few day to a week of antibiotics. If the pressure is too much you can use a sterilized needle to drain the puss or go see a doctor and they will drain it for you. The goal is to keep the area clean and dry and use Neosporin or an antibiotic ointment. In some cases the infection can spread under your nail bed causing the nail to detach and fall off but it will definitely grow back. It can be a bit painful so take an anti inflammatory medication like Ibuprofen. In rare cases the infection could get into your bloodstream and travel to your arm or other areas but again that is RARE. It's highly recommended if you're immunocompromised that you go to your doctor or urgent care so they can prescribe antibiotics because your immune system is weaker than others. If your nail breaks at that level you can repair it like this temporarily until the nail grows out but you should address the infection first because some nail products will irritate the wound and can possibly make the infection worse. NEVER put acrylic or false nails on top of an infected area. It will cause the infection to fester more, prolonging the infection and creating a much greater risk of the infection spreading. Hope this helps.

    ⚠️DONT CUT THE CUTICLE! - it’s actually not the cuticle, it’s the eponychium and it is LIVING SKIN! The cuticle is the dead skin that is plastered to the nail where the lunula is (half moon). If you cut the “cuticle” you are more prone to infection and bleeding. Please ask your nail tech to not cut the “cuticles” whenever you get your nails done.

    • @livhuji733

    • @puppyluv6844

      @@livhuji733 you can trim off the actual cuticle because it’s dead skin. But what nail places usually do is cut off the living skin (eponychium). It might look prettier that way but it’s not in any way healthy, because it’s living skin. If you look at your nail the cuticle is the dead skin that looks really thin on top the nail by the “half moon”. People confuse the eponychium with the cuticle because they look similar and it’s easier to pronounce cuticle. Once again if you look at your finger the eponychium is where your finger nail begins and is there to prevent infections. This is not meant to be cut, but nail techs often push it back to reveal the “half moon” then cut it off which is not okay!

    I’ve simply used nail glue to repair a tear. My natural nails grow very quickly, due to a genetic condition. I used to keep them long and do them frequently, but it didn’t require a salon to repair the tear. If the sides aren’t filed at an angle so far down, they won’t have a shard split off low enough to cause an infection. Avoiding salons that do this helps avoid infection.

    If anyone doesn’t understand what’s going on, she is putting the fiber glass on the nail to temporarily fix it so it doesn’t tear anymore or cause more issues to the infected area. The nail will then grow out a bit longer to a length that is safe to cut the rest of the tip off. So she WILL cut the nail, it’s just too painful and will potentially cause more damage to the nail bed if they cut it at this point due to the tear being in the nail bed and not past the finger tip.

    Remember: There are hundreds of normal microscopic organisms that inhabit your skin...many of them can cause infection, if they get in the wrong place, but they weren't necessarily trying to! Nails are difficult because they create an environment that is hard to rinse out due to most of the injuries being puncture wounds. These injuries drive that normal flora deep down into your skin, essentially encapsulating the bacteria until the body can work its magic and heal it. Always get pus out of wounds and wash it with lots of clean water. Pus is a mixture of your white blood cells built up from trying to clear the bacteria and the bacteria itself, so getting the debris out always helps the healing process.

    • @blissful1689
      @blissful1689 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find applying something to my cuticles daily, or even multiple times a day if I have the time and inclination- helps my nails grow as well as helping them to be more flexible, so that even if not super thick, they don’t split as easily if at all. You can use whatever cuticle cream you prefer, but I kept some empty nail polish bottles and washed them out, I filled them with olive oil and it works great to just paint it round my cuticles then rub in.
      Another thing for natural nails is to use a gentle gritted emery board or file, high grit nail
      files or emery boards are meant for shaping faux nails only. When you shape your natural nails try to go in one direction only, don’t saw back and forth. They way remember this is only my left hand I file to the left. Right hand to the right.
      Also one thing I corrected with my shaping recently is not to file too far into the corners near the sidewalls.
      HTH ☺️ 💅🏼

      If you’re concerned about the lamp, then you should be wearing gloves when driving a car with your hands baking in the sun when stretched over the steering wheel. Just buy fingerless UV gloves for the lamp if you’re still concerned.

      I actually wasn't that concerned about it until a few of my clients started asking me this question and i did my research and SPF is the solution. But i still wanted to see it from the experts point of view. Is it actually that dangerous?

    • @inesbauer3360
      @inesbauer3360 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@maliboooit's not the same thing. We use this type of lamps in chemistry and biology labs and it's mandatory to not touch the light with our hands and always wear glasses while looking at the results. It's actually more dangerous because of the intensity of this types of lamps. And of course the sun is also dangerous but it's not the point.

    My family’s genetics are trash. Our nails are made of paper. Sometimes, if I dare to run my fingers through my hair, my nail snags in the middle and rips entirely off down to the nail bed. No matter how much I filed the edges, nor applied clear polish the result was always the same. I gave up on nail health or having nice nails after all of those times.

      I have the same problem if i use any other file also i avoid filing the sides as much as possible, i go for more of a rounded off square if i go round or almond they dont last long

    That happens to me at least once every month, almost always on one or both of my thumbs. Although it usually doesnt get to an infection and the nail breaks all the way off in a few weeks if I don’t bother it too much. My nails are really thin and bendy, so thats probably why they break on the nail bed so often.

    Especially if the nail breaks too far down and I don't want to deal with the sensitivity for the next few days. I put a band-aid on it till It grows out a little bit and I can file it down and it doesn't hurt as bad. Now I don't know how ill handle those situations 😂

    This can happen to anyone, at any time. It's essentially a small wound that gets infected. Here are some signs and treatments:
    Signs you may have an infection:
    - the area is red and when you press on it, the part occupied by the infection looks white
    - the area is significantly hotter than the rest of your hand
    - you feel it pulsing, especially when pressed gently
    Treatment 1
    Dab a disinfectant as close to the wound as possible. Iodine is great, but it will stain. Cover with a waterproof bandaid. Change the bandaid once or twice a day, depending on whether or not you see fluids on the bandaid. Dab disinfectant every time.
    Treatment 2
    Put a small pot of clean water on a low flame. Put your finger in the water. Wait. The water will warm up slowly. It will feel like it's hotter than it actually is (you can check with a healthy finger) and you will get a tightening sensation. It's going to hurt a little bit, not gonna lie. Keep your finger in the warm water as long as you can - the longer, the better. This will kill the bacteria very fast. If your infection is really really bad and widespread, repeat the process 12h later. Generally your infection will be gone after one treatment.
    Treatment 3
    Go to the doctor and get a prescription for antibiotics. It will generally come as a cream or gel. Use according to the doctor's instructions.

    • @RonryAsAlways
      @RonryAsAlways ปีที่แล้ว

      If the water is hot enough to kill bacteria, it's hot enough to cause burns. The reason warm or hot compresses work is because they increase blood flow and draw the infection to the surface, not because they can magically kill bacteria cells without killing your healthy cells

It was one of the most painful things I've ever done to myself. Thankfully tho the infection went away very fast an di wa left with a small wound and nothing more
