"you can't even hear me and you're still yelling at me." Encapsulated toddlers perfectly!
My sister once butt dialed my mom, and was talking to her son, who was a toddler. She told him that they were going to clean up his toys and go have lunch.
My nephew said, "I don't like it, I don't want it."
And my sister said, "I haven't even made it yet, and already you don't like it" and she sounded utterly defeated.
My nephew had some challenges, he is dyslexic, but he is a healthy, happy, (and huge, lol 6"2!) 20 year old now, and my sister laughs at that story now. I bet your patience will pay off, and you and your son will be able to smile at his toddler-ness.❤️

Just curious does he thrive on his own or is she still a caregiver to him? Mine is 15 and dyslexic and sometimes it worries the sh!t out of me what his future is going to be like. He has a hard time doing certain things.

@@user-sn3ek4vj2j my nephew has a small apartment in my sister's basement, where he lives with his girlfriend. He has some support from my sister, but for the most part, takes care of his day to day life. He's had a few jobs, done well at all of them, and is currently in school for woodworking. His life isn't perfect, but he is overall doing really, really well. As an added perspective, I also have a learning disability, different from my nephew's, but we do share some of the same traits (my niece calls us the awkward twins, lol). I'm 37, been married for 13 years, no house, but lived on my own for 12 years (my husband and I moved in with my mother during covid for lots of personal reasons), have post secondary schooling and love my job as a care aide in a retirement home. I'll never be rich and there's things I'll always struggle with (why does adulthood have so much paperwork??), But I'm far from a failure. Love, acceptance, and support from family and friends, as well as recognizing strengths have helped me a lot. I know you'll always worry about your son, but it is definitely possible to thrive with a learning disability ❤️. Sending you good vibes.

I love this story. It perfectly encapsulates experiences with my toddler. He eats most things. But even when he wants it and I attempt to give it to him he shys away, or sometimes just throws complete fits, then shortly after comes for whatever I’ve tried to hand him. Children are an extreme challenge sometimes.

@@user-sn3ek4vj2j yeah I’m 20 with stealth dyslexia and add but currently double majoring in college with a gpa of 3.9. not that that’s everything, but I’m just saying that high achievement and especially just personal growth and success in that way doesn’t have to be diminished due to learning differences. it has been a long journey and like others have said there will kind of always be things that I experience differently. but to be honest, when you’re in the right supportive environment that allows you to actually use your brain the way it’s designed, the differences from a more “neurotypical” mind sort of feel like superpowers. there are ways of thinking in which dyslexic and other neurodivergent people excel but that others can’t even access if their brain simply doesn’t work that way, just like there are amazing cognitive abilities that someone high-functioning on the autism spectrum may have but I never will. hope that helps you a little, I know strangers on the internet can only do so much haha but it’s really sweet that you clearly just want to set your son up for success! :)

That deep breath was awesome. He’s gonna have to grow up a bit more to fully understand that he can either wear his ears or put them away, but they’re not toys. Throwing the foot actually confirms he's having a tantrum and she needs to tell him the behaviors he doing are not acceptable. Not once did she tell him to stop shouting. He knew he was yelling and will continue to do it till she refuses to accept it. Others may look away and accept from a 2 year old but not a 4 year old. Even children with hearing loss need to be taught acceptable behavior. She needs to film corrections occurring better than this. He says, "now go home" sounds like he got his way!!!!!😢

This is obviously one of the toughest parenting circumstances ever, but just some stranger perceptions; because he can’t hear facial expressions is one of his understood languages. If you try to control your facial annoyance (totally understandable) and exhaustion and change it to a more gentle softer expression it’ll help with his bad assness 😂. I know this coming from a home of a deaf sibling. Facial expressions are a language all their own and they take on what they see, feel.
