This program takes an Autumn of 1989 look at Norfolk Southern’s rugged Pocahontas Division between Bluefield and Williamson, West Virginia. Beautiful scenery, tunnels, grades and trestles, plus lots of action on this busy main line, provide the modern diesel enthusiast and contemporary fan with hours of enjoyment.
Approx. 60 Minutes
Man late 80s railroading at it's absolute finest; busy yards, busy mainlines, blazing hot days, various species of scrub sprouting along the tracks and locos and cars of all different colors, road names and heritages that may be dirty as hell yet clearly show they're doing their jobs to the letter
Consists like this are why can’t bring myself to photograph any widecab GEs. I was spoiled by these kind of good consists!
Man, NS had some good power back then.
Still do
Bought this for 5$ at a train show less than a week ago, haven’t gotten enough of this dvd yet! Wish I could’ve seen this NS
Very nice wish I was alive then to see NS back then, my dad used to haul coal in a truck and said he'd always have to race the train from the load out back to the mine
Cool
back in the days when they still ran long hood forward and designated locomotives as NW or SOU
I think they still do that in a few areas. Why just a couple of weeks ago, I caught an SD70ACe doing just that: th-cam.com/video/zZhD9Wnq95c/w-d-xo.html
2:46 I just noticed that guy in the cab is drinking
KVDASH4400vw he was just leaning back with his head on his arm
I've got this on VHS when it first came out. It's the reason why I started making annual trips to the Pokey.....until they started replacing the N&W CPL signals and Obama's War on Coal decimated the traffic.
