That costs us now never mind waiting for something to come out.

No its primarily so that you can actually use it for storyboards or for character design. You can use this to make the sketches and then you can decide the art style and color palette manually. It actually gives the artist more control. It also means you can take your real sketches and colorize and shade them, and it means you can have a base to animate different poses.
Definitely made for people pretending to be artists. I work in an arts university and this is exactly the sort of thing we ask students to provide with their work.
1000% this is what it's for. People are starting to ask for proof that an person's work isn't AI, and now the AI pretend artists are going to be able to take this and say this was their recorded process.

I remember the first advertisement I saw for the VERY FIRST iPhone. It was beautiful. Spectacular even. I knew right then and there that no matter how much that phone cost, I was going to buy one. That advertisement came out almost 2 years before the phone was released to the public. Us faithfuls waited with smiles. Patience is a virtue. It’s OK to wait for something. It really is. The key is not to twiddle your thumbs, but to stay active in your life, and when the gift comes, be ready to open it.
the iphone 1 was announced by Jobs at an Apple Keynote speech in January 2007 and it was in the shops by June I think, so no it was not 2 years, barely 6 months. I know that cos my boss at the time bought everyone an iphone and the company paid the bills.

Especially since AI already has the means to source its data, but chose not to, and is fighting against laws that would require it, to help ensure copyright holders have some sort of recourse going forward. Much as I have reservations about the competition for human creativity given the speed of AI development, I am relieved to hear about the recent court ruling. If AI was restricted from being influenced by and learning from human artists, imagine the copyright implications that would open up for future human creativity as well. Isn't every human influenced by the work of others in developing something new? The court action smacks of an attempt to own all the most basic building blocks of creativity, which would end up restricting all future commercial artistic works. An other way of looking at the open AI thing would be, with the new board member that is an CIA Director (ex), none of these big tec firms will be a. Assosiated and b. Involed with them for good reason.

The problem is going to be there will be no way to make any money off this, as so many people are thinking. If I'm eventually able to copy paste a whole book into a program that comes out with a movie, I can't sell that. I also wont find buyers because they can do the same thing and get a similar outcome or one even better. It is the AI doing all the work. We'll all end up working in factories, making AI systems.🤪

Looks like it didn't change much. The music industry tries to claim this is about more or less exact copies, but especially Suno tries their best to make sure this isn't easily possible.

I live in China and can confirm that OpenAI, Google etc. have always been blocked, so a VPN is needed. Microsoft has always been allowed here. I assume Microsoft has some kind of deal with the Chinese government.

Dear Matt: Are you personally AWARE of any good alternatives to RUNWAY's "Inpaint" tool by any chance? There are TONS of "generative" stuff but VERY little in the space of subtraction/removing.
