He's ass regardless but there's definitely times the framerate will dip causing input delays. It was just an issue for me fighting those gem backed golem enemies in the forge dungeons.

Funny thing is, the weapon art of the gazing finger would be really helpful here since it sends a shockwave that can send NPCs flying, but he just keeps jump attacking. Can’t resist the muscle memory from two years ago I guess
I'm gonna explain how this boss works cause I spent a good amount of time realising some things about it from Phil dying to it for 40 minutes. This fight is meant to be fought with summons. The game gives you one even if you speed run the DLC. How the boss functions depends on how you've played the game. Speed running it is a bad idea because you'll be left with a generic blood knight. Doing Ansbach and Thollier's side quests let's you summon them, with Ansbach replacing the blood knight. For Leda's team, it's 5 people at base. Hornsent isn't in Phil's fight because he beat Messmer with him. You can also get rid of Moore by telling him to stay sad in which case he kills himself and his armour is at the church at the start of the DLC. Freyja, Dane and Leda always appear unless you kill them outside the fight. However, Dane and Leda won't spawn until Freyja is dead, which is something I noticed when Phil was fighting it. Moore is the big issue in the fight though it may not look it at first. Moore spawns in after Freyja and before any of your allies, meaning it's a 2v1 unless you summon a spirit. He's annoying enough to stop you killing Freyja easily and tanky enough to outlast you until Dane and Leda appear. Scarlet Rot keeps you're health going down and his weapon art doesn't do damage but staggers you for a long period of time, letting who ever else is with him get easy damage while you recover. After Dane appears, Ansbach or the blood knight appear. After Leda appears, Thollier does. All of them have unique dialogue and it's meant to be a culmination of everything you've gone through in the DLC and I love this encounter because of the story weight even if the encounter could have been done better. Like it or not, It's a fight you're meant to summon for. As a side note, he could have solo'd it if he'd just attacked normally since all his attacks would have staggered Freyja, Dane and Leda at least. Jump R2 only works cause it staggers bosses easily but they're NPC Invaders which is why he had so much trouble. I stun locked them with the anchor in my fight and he was using two colossal weapons. It would have worked. Either that or get 8 blue flasks and spam the Greatsword of Damnations weapon attack since it's a grab that gives you I-frames and I'm pretty sure has Frenzy Build up. TLDR; You're meant to summon here, Phil's stubborn and I get way into analysing fights like this.

This fight was absolutely amazing. I loved how your playthrough truly matters here. I came into it as a 3v3 and hearing Ansbach and Thiollier get summoned in with unique dialogue while combat devolved into some huge FFA cluster was so immersive. 10/10 wish I could experience this for the first time again.
Wait until he shows up next Elden Ring stream with the Antspur Rapier and claims he just thought it would be fun to try out and totally not because he looked up guides.
I agree with your sentiment, but Elden Ring is a gear-based RPG. When you change your weapons, items, armor, etc, you are changing your build. Your stats mean nothing outside of gear. You can't even cast spells without gear. This is especially true with ashes of war, which are weapon-tied spells that can alter your playstyle.

He doesn’t buff even with stats. He won’t use even the weakest of summons. He doesn’t know about crafting. He doesn’t even have the best talismans from the base game or even the bell bearings. 2 years & he didn’t learn the basic mechanics, but he sh*ts on the game for his lack of knowledge and skill. Just my opinion.

I have and it's true games do cheat. For example in racing games, AI cars are teleported behind you if you are too far in front. There's even a technical term for it: rubber banding.

For anyone who wants more salt check out the “this is how you don’t play” for ufc 3. It’s old but it’s arguably the best tihydp play through I’ve ever seen. Dsp gets annihilated and showcases how truly bad he is.
How can he have over 100 hours in the game and not know that jumping attacks do not have as high tracking as normal attacks which is why you need to align them more properly?

After playing 1,000 Souls like games, Phil still doesn't realize that a med roll is not an instant roll. There is a tiny delay and you need to account for that. If he was rocking a light load and fast rolled, then his dodge would be instant. He is so regarded that he can't comprehend basic game mechanics. I'm a 62 year old gamer and my reflexes are 100x better than Phil's. Lol

Those Lion enemies are a good skill check. They will destroy your shii if you've been cheesing the game. I wish they made them into an actual boss as a "Skill check" boss. Someone you can't just shield and poke or spam some cheese tactic against.

Most of them would be barely above 50/50 win ratio, and some of them would hardly ever beat the thing. You need extreme Robustness, poise, and a colossal weapon with a really good AOW to deal with that thing in a RELIABLE manner. What I mean is, if it doesn't have a health bar I consider it "trash" normal enemies you should be able to get through with no or little damage. They shouldn't be a boss fight. I consider beating them "taking out the trash". I've learned how to take him out like the trash he is, but the fact that you can't do it with the weapons you WANT to play the game with means he is a bit overtuned.
Souls games really, and I mean REALLY show you the difference between players who are willing to adapt and get better, and players who whine and cry because the game isn't easy as all the previous RPGs they have been playing. This is why all those other game developers were crying and saying we should not use Elden Ring and Balder's Gate as a industry standard. The frame rate is dogshit on PS5 dude... Especially if you play at 4K. It's especially bad in the DLC with some of the enemies AOE attacks.

The most infuriating thing about this guy is he is a worse winner than a loser. I know I am not good at these games, I summon and use mimic because I am not as skilled as most fromsoft veterans. I at least try to learn and fight boss 1v1. I know what I can and Can't do. Boss kills me? I made a bad choice in maneuvers and paid for it. camera angle is fucked? Maybe I shouldn't roll myself into a corner where I can't see anything. With DSP... nope its always the games "Mechanics" and devs who are at fault.

For anyone who wants more salt check out the “this is how you don’t play” for ufc 3. It’s old but it’s arguably the best tihydp play through I’ve ever seen. Dsp gets annihilated and showcases how truly bad he is.

After playing 1,000 Souls like games, Phil still doesn't realize that a med roll is not an instant roll. There is a tiny delay and you need to account for that. If he was rocking a light load and fast rolled, then his dodge would be instant. He is so regarded that he can't comprehend basic game mechanics. I'm a 62 year old gamer and my reflexes are 100x better than Phil's. Lol

Those Lion enemies are a good skill check. They will destroy your shii if you've been cheesing the game. I wish they made them into an actual boss as a "Skill check" boss. Someone you can't just shield and poke or spam some cheese tactic against.

@@tristanwelke7827 A LOT of the "git gud" people in these comments couldn't beat that Lion say....10 times straight without being in danger at least once. Most of them would be barely above 50/50 win ratio, and some of them would hardly ever beat the thing. You need extreme Robustness, poise, and a colossal weapon with a really good AOW to deal with that thing in a RELIABLE manner. What I mean is, if it doesn't have a health bar I consider it "trash" normal enemies you should be able to get through with no or little damage. They shouldn't be a boss fight. I consider beating them "taking out the trash". I've learned how to take him out like the trash he is, but the fact that you can't do it with the weapons you WANT to play the game with means he is a bit overtuned.

Souls games really, and I mean REALLY show you the difference between players who are willing to adapt and get better, and players who whine and cry because the game isn't easy as all the previous RPGs they have been playing.
