This tutorial is gold! Usually I compose without using the metronome and don't care about the tempo (normally I records at 120bpm, even if the music is composed at a different tempo (pace)). Thanks for this, even though I understand that this method should work pretty well only for time steady performances, with no relevant time fluctuations. Any intention to make a video that covers the various "Set project tempo" options? Or is it already there? Also, what drums and piano plugins did you use here? They both sound great (I would say EZ Drummer for drums but not sure and couldn't guess about the piano)
Thanks. This is helpful but...if you play a long performance without a metronome to your ear, your rhythm will be off. Then with this method the beginning and end will be correctly timed, but the middle notes will be off....just some reflections not sure how to fix this problem.
great video Kenny. One question: after you insert the midi item with it's own tempo what would happen if you want to change the tempo of the whole project? In my case I cannot make the midi item to remain relative to the project tempo. I want the midi item after inserted at a different tempo, to then be directly relative to the project tempo in the case I want to change the latter. Thanks

what does gluing achieve here? does it make the item's time base revert to Beats (position, length and rate)?
Yeah. It goes back to responding to all of those defaults. You could also just switch it back but this is quicker.

What if the Set project tempo from time selection (new time signature) option shown at 3:50 is greyed out? Why does that happen and how do you fix it?
I usually have to deal with piano performances with a variable/free tempo. Currently I do not align them to the bars at all. Any better suggestions?

Great video Kenny! The title seems backwards to me. You are not matching the performance to a tempo, you are matching the tempo to a performance.
