She wrote this song, after the love of her life, French boxer Marcel Cerdan, was killed in a plane crash on October 28, 1949... He was flying from Paris to New York to see her... She recorded this song shortly after his death... Sadly, she never recovered from his death... An incredible singer and song writer, I'm sure that she would be very proud of Celine for her performance... Legends never die...

I’m so incredibly happy for her! I watched the documentary about her life now and her illness and seeing her unable to sing and talking about how much she wished she could be onstage again, just broke my heart. She’ll probably never be able to do a full concert again but she got her wish this night. She was able to sing the way she used to, feel the energy of the crowd that she’s missed so much. Was not prepared to cry today, this moved me beyond words. To see someone who is so truly gifted at something work so hard for one last moment. I am proud of Celine and everyone representing their nations.
After watching the documentary about Celine’s sickness, and then seeing her sing at the Paris Olympics, you just can’t help but feel that Celine deserves the best Olympic Gold medal. Bravo!

Absolute Perfection!!! she put her all into that performance, i've never really been a Celine Dion Fan, but that performance changed my view of her, They Should NEVER taken the camera's off her, she was singing for her life here, if she was going to be remembered for anything then this was going to be it!!! and she managed to become Piaf on that stage, nobody could have done that the way she did!!!

I grew up listening to that song by Édith Piaf since she was one of my mother's favorite singers and never did I think I would ever hear a rendition by anyone else that would match her. Celine Dion matched her, brought me to tears and made that song come alive again. She is a goddess!!

I’m so incredibly happy for her! I watched the documentary about her life now and her illness and seeing her unable to sing and talking about how much she wished she could be onstage again, just broke my heart. She’ll probably never be able to do a full concert again but she got her wish this night. She was able to sing the way she used to, feel the energy of the crowd that she’s missed so much. After watching the documentary about Celine’s sickness, and then seeing her sing at the Paris Olympics, you just can’t help but feel that Celine deserves the best Olympic Gold medal. Bravo!

Absolute Perfection!!! she put her all into that performance, i've never really been a Celine Dion Fan, but that performance changed my view of her, They Should NEVER taken the camera's off her, she was singing for her life here, if she was going to be remembered for anything then this was going to be it!!! and she managed to become Piaf on that stage, nobody could have done that the way she did!!!

Her performance had every emotion she's been experiencing over the last 4 years wrapped up in under 4 minutes. It was utterly spectacular!! You could just feel how happy she was to be there! All the love to you Celine!!

I grew up listening to that song by Édith Piaf since she was one of my mother's favorite singers and never did I think I would ever hear a rendition by anyone else that would match her. Celine Dion matched her, brought me to tears and made that song come alive again. She is a goddess!!
