I've inherited a mahogany vanity in which 5 generations of women in my family have sat before the mirror. It's got nine drawers, but the six lower drawers to either side are big enough for bowling balls. What were those women packing anyway?? I've known this piece of furniture my entire life; because I didn't have children I often wonder who will receive it next. Will she think of us 'mystery' women as she sits before it? All of us, who pondered identical life questions while piling hair high, chopping it short, setting it in rollers, ironing it flat or dying it pink. Over one hundred years of primping. If I could live in that vanity I probably would.😆it's the embodiment of womanhood for me. I will adopt that future mystery girl, I will haunt her, protect her and help her answer those life questions. And I'll hold all the other familial ghosts back because them girls be crazy. In the 60s and 70s, the color green was worn a lot, in all its variations (we can see it in Samantha's clothes and the decoration in Bewitched famous fantasy sitcom). Afterwards, it was considered very bad taste and navy blue took over for years until the arrival of black as the basic color; knowing that before, black was reserved for mourning only. But, bottle green is the color of hunting clothes too, therefore winter. I have always loved the color green (light, pastel, powdery, dark, sage, apple, ...) and I am happy that it has become trendy again in recent years.
