    Great tip about using a headlamp with the same battery. REI should thank you. I literally just now ordered the Fenix headlamp. Thanks for the helpful video!

    Fenix makes great torches! I still have the flashlight I used on a deployment to the middle east when I was in the Marines. They are great quality and are able to take a beating. You definitely cannot go wrong with Fenix brand. I'll be checking out that headlamp.

    I've sent two of the zero pumps back because of bad threads, won't try a third. If Flextail would make the threads sturdy like on my Fenix headlamp I've been using for 5 years trouble free that might make me change my mind.

    I just received my Zero Pump last week, two months late. I have to say I'm very impressed with it. It fills all four different pads (five total) my family takes and can do all of them a few times on one charge. I tested on my Thermarest Topo Air Luxe, which at 4" thick is about as big as single pads get, and got 12 fills out of it. I thought having the charge port on the battery was going to be a pain but it's not a big deal at all. I like the ability to be able to take along a second battery if needed. Takes like 10 seconds to get out. And with battery and adapters it only weighs 0.3 ounces more than the proprietary pump sack that came with my mattress. Biggest question is how it will hold up.

    I have the same combo and honestly it’s the best thing ever
    Just bring an extra two disposable batteries and it’ll last forever

    Awesome tip. It def need USBC. Not just for charging but passthrough power when needed so we can power it with a larger USBC battery bank

    The Fenix uses a 3.6V battery and the Flextail zero 1.2 uses a 3.7V battery. I bought a Flextail zero without a battery and I'm deciding whether to buy a stronger 950mAh 3.7V and charge it or use it in the fenix HM51R and at the same time not damage Fenix ledbulb or buy a fenix battery with 3.6V and I may have a problem with weak blowing. What combination do you use?

    I'm waiting for my pump to arrive. I have ordered it with a rechargeable CR123 with a charging port on the battery. Recharge before a trip and all is good :-)

    • @KaneDoesOutdoors
      @KaneDoesOutdoors  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depends on the length of the trip!

      Finally received my pre -Christmas Order yesterday. I ordered the rechargeable battery. Topped battery off before first test. One fill. Four tests later I can get two fills on Klymat backpacking pad. Not anywhere close to the hype, just dead weight to lug on the trip.

    • @KaneDoesOutdoors
      @KaneDoesOutdoors  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s really weird - someone else just commented that they can get 17 fills, but my experience was more similar to yours. I did one fill on a trip (Xlite max large) and on my next trip made it halfway through a fill and died. Wondering if there is parasitic draw on some units?

    • @plmn93
      @plmn93 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@fallingcedar I got 12 fills on my Thermarest Topo Luxe, which is one of the highest volume single camping pads around. My Klymit Static V can get more than double that. Sounds like something is not right with yours. I got mine last week, two months late.

    • @plmn93
      @plmn93 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@KaneDoesOutdoors Are you using the correct battery? Not all RCR123 batteries are created equal, and the one from your headlamp is probably weaker. Mine will run continuously for roughly 30 minutes with the included 3.7v 650mah.

    Someone should make a video of new users looking for the usb port. I think it probably took me like five minutes to finally find it on the battery.

    How many times can you pump up a mattress on one battery?

    • @KaneDoesOutdoors
      @KaneDoesOutdoors  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depends on the mattress. They say 20X which is probably a best case. The reality is probably around 15-20 minutes of run time. If your mattress is a size xl, has more resistance (internal insulation etc) this will affect the number of inflations. Factor everything in: If you run it a bit too long, use the pump to deflate etc etc etc….

    *Update* The charging port on the battery changes my original thoughts! Looking forward to trying this pump out!
    the battery aspect of this pump is a deal breaker and critical design flaw

    • @KaneDoesOutdoors
      @KaneDoesOutdoors  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree. If you watch my first impressions video it had me scratching my head. I had to email flextail just to confirm that a usb port wasn’t hidden somewhere. That being said this will be a hugely popular piece of gear and does what it is supposed to do. Just not perfect - this video is for people who think this pump would be good for them and offers a solution for that one concern.

    • @NathanHassall
      @NathanHassall 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@KaneDoesOutdoors I'll definitely check that out. For sure I agree I think the battery part just stings more because its a pretty awesome device..aesthetically pleasing too.
      For some the battery will be a blessing.

      I kind of thought that when I first read about it but after getting it don't find that it's an issue at all. Given the choice, I much prefer a replaceable battery I have to take out to charge than a built in battery that junks the whole thing when it inevitably fails. It only takes like 10 seconds to get the battery out. For the record, I get 12 fills of my Thermarest Topo Luxe out of it, which about as large as single camping pads get. More than enough for my trips, and if it's not, a second battery is only another half ounce or so to bring along.
