- This is a point and shoot camera made by Samsung that runs Android, is it any good? Or does it's outdated version of Android turn it into eWaste?

Its crazy that this concept hasn't been revisited. If you would combine todays uber powerful SoCs and Software algorithms with high quality optics it could probably produce cool results.
yes, its called a camera
it's already there but no one wants to buy it
High end companies like Zeiss have tried it, but a lens optics company isn't the best software company. It sucks cause there's so much additional potential, there's a lot of push back from camera boomers tho, and "artsy" apple people are afraid to touch anything android..... It's such a strange and illogical market
@@ubacow7109stop with the boomer thing it's mad corny
@@chriswright8074 see the target demographic was triggered. Its the Tony Northrops and wont shoot anything if it requires an iota of discovery types.
imagine samsung did this again in 2023 the camera would be amazing
The iphone 2 camera would be better 😂😂
(jk)
I remember when the Galaxy Camera came out. The main focus (no pun intended) with Android was to have social media apps on your phone and being able to just upload them directly from cam to web. But as this is old now even those apps won't run on it anymore.
One thing you can do with this is upload your photos to cloud storage easily
Fair
Well, before Google bought it, Android WAS designed as an OS for smart cameras. So there's no surprise that someone actually put it to do its original job.
Totally. Why is everyone about how better iPhones are in taking pictures? Android literally came up with the idea, they own it
Kyocera did come up with that idea.
this channel is so underrated, love ya
In the age of Zoom meetings, live streaming, and switching between multiple HDMI sources on the fly, remote file storage over wifi, this Android camera concept would be super useful to have around today because even the best most expensive cameraphones still suffer from lack in lens & sensor capability
also the option to have something like a cybershot + software to easily send the photos and videos to phones would be perfect.
im shocked that you managed to implement the hot dog eating into the camera test. so smart
That was my genius idea
I have a Galaxy K Zoom which is in fact a phone, very similar to the S5 but with an epic camera with 10x optical zoom! On a phone! It’s fantastic
This was one of my favourite phones of all time. It just wasn't marketed very well. Took really good photo's and was easily useable as a traditional smartphone.
It's amazing how technology advances. Back then this was the way to get 10x optical zoom. Now with the s23 ultra for example we get a 3x AND a 10x optical zoom while still being tiny, just by using a sideways sensor and mirrors in the phone.
My very first phone❤❤❤, I hope they’ll make phones like those again. Same size bug updated OS
I had a Samsung galaxy gc100. It had 21x zoom. It was a beauty and Marvel as well. Full fledged Android OS touchscreen with 21x zoom lens. Still seems saleable. It was in past but still feels futuristic. I miss it. 😢
@@lekhwanisunil The Galaxy GC-100 really is cool. Had a pretty big screen and a 17 MP sensor (effectively 16.3 mp) which is more than many phones today, even with the worse camera quality. But damn this thing has a tablet attached which is why I'd love a thing like this with modern sensors, attachable lenses, android and big screen etc etc like this today. To bad the sensor really wasn't that great, though it wasn't horrible, lots of noise with low ISO. But 21x optical zoom is great. Guess i have to stay with my Nikon D5200 with interchangeable lenses for my astrophotography and my S23 ultra for daytime photography and sun photography-
I got one of these when it first came out and I still find use for it today. If you have one it's probably not a good idea to revert it to factory settings as some of the apps may no longer be available on the Google Play store. The main use I have for it is at gigs and concerts. It has a great zoom and being easily able to change manual settings like ISO and shutter speed is essential for this kind of photography. It fits very neatly into a pocket too. Photo quality is very acceptable. HD video is good but there's no stabilasation so bring along a tripod if necessary.
Onboard memory is too small (4GB) so only download essential apps. I have a 32GB Micro SD installed as well which all the photos are saved to. Google Photos works (for now) which is great for backups. A HDMI out cable can be obtained which might be handy if staying in a hotel , stick a few movies on the SD and you are never short of entertainment.
This was a groundbreaking camera at the time it was released but sadly because the version of Android can't be updated its sort of stuck in a timewarp.
Anyway, when my Galaxy Camera finally dies (hopefully it's got many years of happy use left) I probably won't go looking for a replacement but I will have thousands of pictures that it created left to enjoy.
PROS
Compact
Large touchscreen.
Full manual settings option.
Smart modes
Huge zoom
Chargeable via MicroUSB cable.
Expandable memory with Micro SD
Bluetooth functions
Great HD video.
HDMI output available
Great for playing media.
External audio input available for video
Google Photos function
CONS
Startup time from scratch can be slow
Android version cannot be updated
Less and less compatible apps available from the Google Play Store
Internal memory (4GB) gets used up very quickly
No RAW option
The coloring was bright, it had 20x zoom and really you could use the manual setting if you wasnt happy with the other settings. It was pretty good for its time.
For a more up to date alternative you can have a look at the Zeiss zx1
9:13 it’s most likely dust, it’s also a problem my K Zoom had. I had to take it apart and clean it
Used this during my dermatology internship, and this seems like a great phone for camera enthusiasts
Thanks for the comparison with Pixel 7 Pro, was really useful
16:20 Quality content right there🤝
Love your videos!
I always wanted to have one of these ever since it came out.
@breadbrody Oh hello lol.
I still believe having a besics os in camera it's good idea if implement correctly for i few reasons
1. With having internet access means that easy to uploading those photos with out need computer
2. The other advance it's that is probably easier to edit those photos,
For sure software like Photoshop probably do better job but im sure i will be very Handy for photographers to do semple edits
You know what, that's might have been the coolest gadget at that time
The flexible flash is to allow you to point and bounce the light off the ceiling. The black spot is fungus near the sensor level.
The fact that samsung still persuing the zoom with the s23 ultra
I think the closest relative to this weird oddware but can make phone calls is Leica's Leitz Phone 1, having all of the features that people loved while having the leica's photography prowess
I used to have this exact camera and didn’t even notice it did that..
I wonder if someone could get GCam running on there to get good photo prossesing
1:25 - Some Sony Alpha Cameras actually run on Android too!
Which ones exactly?
Can you do Facebook live streaming on Android 4.3? If it does I'm very much willing to buy when I came across those Android based digicams including the phone version Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom.
I did not think Samsung made more than the s4 zoom tbh that's crazy :P
What about the sound quality if a loudspeaker is built in?
show us your tech collection
Just got one for 30 bucks not mad now I can play games and take pictures, which I can already do on my phone but now I’m doing it on my camera
i remember wanting one but i had an iphone5 that i also jailbroke so
to act like a 5s but now i do wish i let apple go years ago tbh.
i think mabe theres some open source apps or a CarbonOS thats more up to date with some photography apps
i did try some Modded GoogleCamera App on a non GoogleDevice and it sorted out the OnePlusCam issue meaning
it can be the Camera App thats causing some of the Color Depth issues.
:im no expert of knowing settings:
It's what android was made for originally
Is there no way to update the OS ? Or just change it to something else ?
I bought one of these and converted it to full spectrum. It’s now a full service ghost hunting tool. You can shoot photos. Record video. Use ghost hunting apps. Record audio. And you can mount an IR light using the tripod threading. If anyone who has one needs a conversion, hit me up.
Samsung should make this camera with modern specs..
I remember kinda wanting one of the galaxy cameras. Kinda still do lol. But seeing how poor it performs today is a disappointment.
Please put your vanillo channel link in the about page
for some reason i hated the google pixel 7 pro quality. it still screams "phone camera" despite all advancements. zoom sucks like in all phones. low light vids suck. colors are oversaturated and depth perception is out of question lol. annoying post processing like oversharpening. most flagship phones suffer in all these areas too. the galaxy camera performed so much better on that low lit video you showed. i was contemplating on buying a flagship phone or a budget compact camera (400-500 bucks) and your video helped me realize that it's a waste of money to buy a phone for the camera aspect. iphones suck too they have nothing better to show. i'd rather have the slightly lower image resolution of the samsung camera that produces natural looking colors and acceptable image quality while performing impressively well with zoom and mic quality. that costs $300 today and comes with a touch screen.
Does it support the Hebrew language? And where did you buy it and what is the price?
can you review the galaxy s4 zoom
Its like a Pda with a camera on it
can you mount the lens?
do a video about the sharp crystal x
I looked it up on eBay. It is $30 with $200 SHIPPING
You should flash sa modern android version their
i hate how this is more responsive than my current phone
Have you tried to install a GCAM on it? :0
5:21 bro predicted the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max
U can make call with it
Samsung really needs to come out with a new smart camera! It wolde definitely be a sell out especially in this influencer era!
Has anyone noticed that the time on the widget is wrong?
Oh wow didn't notice that, from looking at it closer, it's showing the weather AND time from the place it was shipped to me from which is in a different timezone to me
There were two generation of them. Galaxy Camera and Galaxy Zoom. This one is actually 2nd gen but it can't make calls. When they promoted this camera it seemed very cool to me but too expensive. Regular point shoot cameras which had a lot of megapixels were only for 50-70 $. So, there was no point in such device.
hi! how did you import your photos/videos from your camera to ur phone? need help :(( thank u!!
With a micro USB to USB cable, or you could use an SD card, or wirelessly transfer them
@@frokfrdktysm!!!
The Galaxy NX was a better one
Custom rom it to android 10 and play call of duty on it

Life is roblox😛
The like is 69 so i made it 70
can it play among us ?????
Excellent idea, terrible application.
Even in its prime, the galaxy camera, and the galaxy S4 zoom, which were both pretty much the same damn thing, their photo quality was awful. Just because you stick a giant lens on the back of a handheld, doesn’t mean the photo quality is going to be good. As always Samsung would use a D noising software, which would take away all the detail and then they would add artificial sharpness which would make everything look mushy. It looked like a persons hair was just a wave of color instead of individual hair. Not that Samsung does any better now. They’re over processing always makes everything look awful. It’s fine if you’re a teenager on Instagram but what about those of us that actually take the art of photography seriously? Yeah Samsung doesn’t seem to know. Much about Photos and they don’t seem to ever know.
