I respect your opinion but if they nerf they better nerf only his normals on him. The only people I wanted for DBFZ was UI Goku DBS Broly and Gogeta I was lucky to get all 3 I would REALLY appreciate in they didn't kill one of my mains.
Yeah that’s understandable but a characters strength shown in a game can ruin the game, they need to about fairness to keep the game enjoyable and non meta so they can get paid, make sure it’s balanced so they get people playing and only saying good things about it and in the end of the day it’s a business and has to make money. Which this character they just ruined it.

I fuckin hate him. Hate how when I see him I know that I have to treat him so differently from everyone in the game. He’s that much better than everyone in the game. I see every individual character and I know they can all be good, but none of them are as good as he is. “But kid buu and buu ball with the ten million overheads and mixes!” Man idgaf about mixes if I get mixed that’s on me. I deserve it. When I get hit by a 4 frame counter to any of my light buttons? They didn’t deserve that. Then the dp..then the counter..then the ten million other options that dude has, his 2h can literally be used to bait you out. That’s why ui goku players abuse it.

What makes him worse is the fact that the best team with ui goku is the top two players in the game, UI goku, kid buu, and gt goku. The fact that he synergizes with the best is a problem because I feel like top tiers or strong characters need to be unique to the point where they need certain characters. On the other hand almost all the top tiers synergize basically with anybody and can do all roles, but all the low tiers like zamasu needs certain characters and assist to help him win in neutral. The worst thing about is the fact that UI goku really doesn’t need assist to win neutral, but when you add in gt gokus a assist it’s just basically game over for you if you start blocking lol.
I want them to nerf him in a way that keeps his many options but makes sure none are overwhelming. For instance the wake up punch unable to be canceled after. Make the counter no longer beat safe jump. Make his 2H land much closer to the opponent. Just these things would go a long way and keep him top tier
His wake up punch should be treated like a dp on block. If it’s blocked has a lot of recovery frames so you can punish them accordingly. They can even increase the damage on it. But make it so I can actually punish you if I block it. Being able to cancel that move is what makes it so broken
I think the safe 2h is ok, honestly. If he spamms it, you can adapt. But the massive amount of reversal options he has is ridiculous. In my opinion, he shouldn't be able to call assists after ex flip or do another one if the first is blocked, and his reversal punch should be like any other DP in the game: if it gets blocked, you die. No counter super or vanish.
His wakeup option isnt as overpowered as many scrubs complain. If its that overpowered. Nitrobros would have spammed that on every wakeup instead of onky using it once a match

Z Broly and UI Goku are the two characters in the game that really feel like how they are portrayed on the screen. When I use UI Goku I feel like im gracefully evading my oponents offense and am always one step ahead of them. As if I really am using ultra instinct. When I play Z Broly I really feel like I am a tank laughing off every attack an enemy throws (armor on almost all attacks, ki blast that beat all other normal ki blasts). It's no surprise that the two characters that feel most like the show they come from happen to be top tier characters and often times feel broken. Since the movies/shows they come from, they are portrayed as broken.
I think reducing those hitboxes (especially on his light) and removing the wakeup DR option would put him in a balanced state. He would still be top tier but not totally broken.
@@emiliano0642 if it was half a bar then yes, but a full bar for a move that has high scaling and even at that no combo ability unless you spend another bar would be pretty trash real fast. It's basically 2 bars for 3k optimal damage and no knockdown outside of super(another bar) or assist Dragon rush
top 3 things for me would be: Nerf the hitbox on some normals(especially his 5L) nerf the blockstun of his wake-up option nerf the hit stun fo his EX flip (possibly to the point where he has to vanish to start a combo but idk)
A period of playing this game I’ve grown a deep antipathy for this character. I would compare him to the likes of Jade in MK11 and I don’t mean that in a good way. He’s one step close to making me give up ranked online
Scale down his damage Scale down his threatening hitboxes (5L and jL remove win-condition) Give him more end-lag on 2H, to a point where it's easily punishable Give him more end-lag on whiffed 214LMH Reduce jail time in his assist and other problem moves EDIT: removed the counter super vulnerabity suggestion OR Make him closer to cannon and implement a new mechanic that gradually increases his end-lag on his major moves the longer he stays out (like what happened in the tournament of power where he lost UI due to exhaustion)
This is very good you hit all the good points a lot of people missed I dont agree with 2 of these though. Making his counter super startup not invincible removes the point of a counter super. Like it becomes spend a bar to get instant air dashed The other one I dont agree with is the jail time on this assist. Assist A does not have a lot of blockstun at all. Assist B is the same as all beams in the game around 30 frames of blockstun.

Hi, wanted to comment before I finished the video. This is from my responses about UI Goku on reddit : Now to be clear, UI is strong in places he shouldn’t be. The answer to that though is just make some slight overall nerfs to some of his tools and he becomes more universally fair. Now why they gave him tools like • A 2H that saves him in neutral • A tracking wakeup DP that’s hard to punish in the first place combined with that it can be vanish cancelled, spark cancelled, or counter cancelled on whiff * his 214H special that is frame 4 reversal, cost half a bar, staggers on ground hit, AND can be spammed like clockwork. Quick revelation for those thinking they can just attack when they see him attack with this move after a flip : ITS FRAME 1 when cancelled from 214X!!! • A 5L that has a hitbox of a riot shield, combined with a 5LL that low crushes, teleports, and makes dropping a combo completely improbable • A 2S that catches people jumping, combined with 5S and vanish it jails (why), and 6S... • 6S is so stupid good for no absolute reason. It counts as a strike until UI throws out his two (albeit very weak) ki snipes. It’s got the hitbox of a tank, beats superdash, reflects basic ki blasts, and has amazing hitstun. • A command flip that you can only punish with certain characters in the first place. Then there’s 214H(held), an Ex move that looks like a vanish but is safe from 2H. Which leads into a 4 way RPS : a lariat that is plus 2 basically, a command grab that side switches, that frame 4 reversal, and a beam WHILE BEING KI INVUL THE ENTIRE TIME IN ADDITION TO KI SUPERS AND CAN CANCEL QUICKLY INTO ANY OF THE FOUR MENTION OPTIONS!! Ahem Sorry, got very heated for a moment there. S Broly mains know my pain. Now UI being this strong didn’t surprise me at first, but hoo boy did it come back to bite me in the butt later. 5L is in a weird place for me however, as some things make sense while I question ArcSys’ sanity at other things : • 5L beating SD (superdash)? Stupid • 5L having a long horizontal hitbox? That’s mostly fine, just need a slight range reduction because hitting from 1/4 the screen is nutty • 5L having a tall hitbox even hitting behind him? Stupid • 5L not 6 frame startup? If anything, it needs to be maybe 8 frame startup for being like a lariat but not being good for tick throws is good It’s now seriously pre patch Bardock B level crazy. Also why does he have counters, unique wakeup option, and supposedly need 3 different timing DPs? (Referencing the comment before this, the person wanted to compensate nerfing UI with making the 214M command grab 28F) No they don’t need to buff that command grab, it’s perfectly good as it is it just needs a better tell signal. If I had my way, I would make it a hitgrab instead of a true command grab because I get hit by it waaaayyy too many times. Otherwise, yeah he becomes strong as he was intended, but now he actually has tells or weaknesses to what he does. He couldn’t “mix” someone after a knockdown with his flips anymore (or by his wakeup tech, I’ll go into detail soon), can’t hit someone out of SD from 5L and 6S (seriously, that move is underratedly spoken about being nerfed), and he gets blown up if he whiffs, blocks, or gets his wakeup DP baited. His Wakeup option, or Superman punch as someone accurately called it. It’s the first defensive attack tech option ever to exist in the game (aside from wakeup mashing), and it’s got the ability to be cancelled into supers, vanish, and spark while having the ability to tech normally. Even on whiff, he goes flying across the screen and recovers way too quickly for you to punish him. So obviously, we nerf that move to only light to standard SKD. He shouldn’t be able to wakeup tech on supers. Then we also nerf it to be unable to tech in addition to the wakeup option (so they have to commit to the wakeup option and not get a overpowered double tech. Finally, make it have more recovery if he cancels it or whiffs. That way, it works like a defensive punch that might turn the tides, but it has a huge risk if it gets baited.
Bro 7:01 really had me dying cause I've litteraly been sweating while UI was eating pavement afraid of a TOD lol. They have to calm him down. Recovery for his specials (like Yamcha and Base Vegeta) and hit boxes that don't cover his entire body would be fine.

He literally plays the game FOR you. -His exflip is spammable, -His 2h is rediculously safe -He can convert ANY move Into a super. -He AUTOCOUNTERS oki with that auto wakeup attack with a single input. -that wakeup attack ALSO penetrates EVERYTHING except a well timed 2H or DP at the end of it's frames. This includes supers. -the wakeup attack is also his C assists and ALSO goes through supers. -He can hop through ultimates and finish with his exflip -His hitboxes are so big that he can punish multiple options with nothing more than a single square input while other characters actually have to react and/or maneuver with the correct inputs to avoid nor punish "this" or "that". -Has the easiest TODs in the game He was built for noobs nevermind the average player. He's literally easy mode.
Honestly I feel like the best way to “fix” him is to let him keep all his options, but just toning them down slightly. Fix the hitboxes on his normals, fix the insane tracking on the second light hit. They should make his moves more punishable, such as preventing him from acting after his special recovery so that he can actually get punished if it’s blocked, and give a similar treatment to the ex flip by making him have way more recovery on it. As well as possibly an overall damage nerf or maybe give him meter gain as atrocious as 16. Just a few ideas

Yes, you can nerf everything. ...And you'll probably have to do this several times. ...And yes, he'll still be good afterwards. ...And yes, you're going to piss a lot of people off. Just don't mess with his combo paths too much, and don't completely destroy his Oki. That's what makes people quit games and boycott you. Flushing what is in many cases years of time investment in training with a character down the toilet is bad. I actually quit the game not even over something meant to be a nerf, but changes to Vegito's combo structure that broke all my old combos. They weren't even good combos. I don't have patience or time to grind out learning the good combos. I also don't have patience or time to relearn a character and rebuild all my muscle memory while grinding my face against opponents that haven't had their characters touched.
I still main cell. Lol I never bothered with game breaking loops picked up 16 and broly. Broly armor moves are broken. 16 has great moves. Ui goku is ridiculous OP.
@@theblazingace3537 If you do a crossup that should usually outplay an opponent thats mashing but with side switching auto combos you are punished for playing better, which is just wrong. Either they need to let it not side switch or dont let the secon hit come out on whiff.

The main options for balancing UI IMO would be reducing the spacing on his 2H, reduce the hitboxes on his normals (especially his Ls), decrease the blockstun on his special wakeup and make it and the EX Flip super/vanish cancelable on hit only. Minimize the unga, but don't outright remove his tools.
I got the game on launch and i started playing when he came out. I really wanted to main him since I liked UI Goku but when I was playing as him I played as Ginyu some and I thought he was alot more fun. I ended up dropping UI Goku because he is so skilless and I'm not bettering myself.
Fixing UI Goku is easy: 1. *Reduce His Damage Output* - Either reduce the damage of all his moves by 10% or increase his damage scaling. Preferably the former as thatll allow players to still do most of his combos but they will simply hit a little lighter 2. *Risk/Reward* -Nerf frame data on some of his moves so that more of his strings are punishable. He should be more of a defensive character and he definitely shouldn't be able to just play on your guard for free like he does. 3. *Reduce his Meter-Build By 10% -This will round out UI. His excellent defense leads to offense so this offensive limiter will reward those who can consistently win the defensive battle. He already doesnt meed meter so he DEFINITELY shouldnt build meter for other teammates These 3 key changes will keep UI Goku as pretty much the same character but he'll actually be fair to fight. With these nerfs UI will definitely still be a top tier but he'll take alot more skill to get the most out of him
SSJ2 is a beast at offence, but UI's defensive options just removes the okizeme entirely which is a gigantic deal in FighterZ. UI is more broken. Gohan is just an extremely good battery character. Still top tier but absolutely not on the same level
The only thing i think is broken about teen gohan is the auto combo. Everything else about him is fine IMO. Don’t try to distract people from your main

@@ceilingfan4161 it's an assumption but I don't think it's that bold. look at Videl and zamasu, jiren and 17 even cooler. They're not played too much, and for a long time and even now, most are considered mediocre or trash. I came to FighterZ late, can you guess which DLC I didn't buy? Cooler, 17, jiren, videl. i did get zamasu before I knew much and that was mistake. And then look at how all the newer ish DLC play especially season 3 DLC. Goku GT , Kelfa ,Broly super, U.I, and Roshi. Top tier and descent
I would probably -Take out the wakeup option -Make ex flip punishable or not be able to call an assist afterwards -Reduce the hitstun of A Assist and don't have it hit on both sides. -Make 2h punishable

Well, this message is going to be long, sooooo... Prepare yourself. Well, first if we want to try to balance a character, first You need to try to understand the thought behind it (I suppose). The character was Made with the idea to be a top tier, we can tell because the moves that UI haves, are way too good, but we can Also tell that they wanted to make an easy character to Main, we can tell that because all the character is Made that way (the 2nd hit of autocombo for example or the que Kamehameha that can be z changed with literally everything). With that say, I think that we should just erase the top tier things (withouth killing the character) to make an easy character who has a lot of chip things BUT it can't make an absurd amount of damage of it. -So My first change would be the damage output, I would make him do a Lot of damage but still it wouldn't kill You with a 2M (and 4 bars) in midscreen. -My second change would be to make 214H punishable, because it's absurd that You can do an 4 frames invencible move and no one can punish You because it has 5 frames of cooldown (although that he would still be able to cancel it with itself) and You should cancel 214 L/M with H. -My third change would be that You can't cancel your Unique wake up move, because the one who would be thinking more of the Unique wake up option would be the player who use UI because he would think when to use it (and no just spam ir withouth thinking) and not the one who just put You i'm knocdown (because You have to read the wake up and then You have to read if he's going to do a counter or a vanish). -My fourth change would be to make leas hitstun of the jab, because if You share the hit the other Goku UI can still combo of it. -My other change would be to make the lvl 3 super to not change sides (because we are making a character for starters) but ir wouldn't matter a lot to be real. -I would fix the bugs with the character (the corner Kamehameha glitch and the 214H glitch) -My 6th change would be to make the 2h punishable and to make the S+teleport reflectable. -and My final change would be to make that the A assist haves less hitstun because it's just absurd. So at the end we would have a character who doesn't kill You of anything, and it doesn't have so many cheaps options that are safe and making the S reflectable UI wouldn't be able to win the turn withouth a lot of heritage but it would be still top tier (but ir would be harder to use competitevily) and it would be an easy pic option because it still has all the other things (like the autocombo,etc) That's it, pardon My Bad English (I'm from Argentina) and this was My longest comment of all times (My cellphone is on fire) Tell me what You would do, down there and goodbye -thanks for reading
I agree with the 2, and the assist one. The others I think needs adjustements. I think the 5S jailing into vanish is fine, and the dmg can stay. I think for the 3rd I would decrease the blockstun of the unique wake up move and make the frame 1 counter be 2 or 3 bars instead of 1. Hitstun of the jab isn't a problem, the hitbox is. I agree with your ideas and what to nerfs but I would nerfs the moves in a slightly different way.
This kind of what happened in smash 4 with bayonetta (except bayonetta was way worse). They can both force the opponent to play how they want, they have insane counters, and nerfing them means changing the character and their identity. Finally they are also both dlc characters. Let’s hope that they handle the situation properly.
Suggestions: Make the "unique" wakeup option not be able to spark cancel or teleport cancel and his *down heavy* , *qcb heavy* , and *counter super* unsafe on whiff and shield Edit: I know he was already nerfed but I just wanted to break him more: Slow down his 5L so that it has a good hitbox but slower start-up Change his 6S so that it has less active time (3-6 frames) so that you can't just bypass ki blasts
I like that. His unique wakeup should garunte a punish if blocked. No vanish or counter lvl 1 shenanigans. You knocked him down, so why are you getting punished for it?
@@eliravioli I definitely understand where your coming from! I do not like the fact that you have to take a mixup because you landed a combo. I feel as if they should just make it easier to punish instead of straight up taking away those tools.
I remember when DBFZ first came out and some people were complaining about how Yamcha was a top tier, as previous DB games based their balance on the characters' canon strengths Vegeta's forms' tier placements sh*t all over that idea UI Goku reminds me of that, since it's Goku's best form/technique and is a top tier in game
I wish he wasn't so broken cuz like. Everything he does is so fun. His 6H, 236HS, the flips, his 5H carrying someone across the stage, it's all so fun and satisfying. But that's probably because they're all so good.
Because we’ve been given Blue Goku and Vegeta, Vegito, Beerus, and look at them often falling behind canonically less powerful characters in the tier list.
@@thelastmastergamer2846 To be fair, UI wakeup is predictable. Usually I'm too scared to apply pressure on a UI Goku because they can just punch me in the face. So I have to just walk and back up and they escape pressure. Even when they actually do it, if you block it, they can just cancel into basically anything. If you don't punish the vanish, you're in pressure now which sucks. They can also counter which you can wait out, but damn if it doesn't suck to jab too early. UI wakeup is incredibly broken
Hot take: Don't change UI just make more characters like him or buff existing charcters. Let's put the dragonball in dragonball fighterz baby choo choo.
Here’s my idea for a ui nerf, 1. Make it so that you can’t special cancel out of his wake up tech 2. make the ex backflip punishable on block 3. Make it so that the 2h has more lag
I played him for about a week when he came out and actually felt dirty with how disgustingly overtuned and easy he was. Everything he does beats the game for you. Don't need to learn to block, don't need to learn to wake-up properly, don't need to learn to move, don't need to learn any hard combos cos his bnbs turn into ToDs just by adding one assist and doing the same route twice in a row. Blocking UI's dp puts YOU into a 50/50, blocking UI's wake-up teleport puts YOU into a 50/50 and getting hit by his pseudo dp launcher lets him reset you multiple times with no effort cos he also has the easiest iad crossup in the game. Horrible balance

Yeah no. Gt was really good, a little bit too much - but ui goku is what gt goku was on steroids. At least you actually had an advantage state against gt. UI goku has options that literally makes it so in every situation he has an advantage, regardless of what’s happening. Gt goku was really good because his advantage state and neutral were really really good, but at least you COULD have an advantage against him.
Squart Squartingson Nah man, the state of the meta back in season 2 made it so that you were almost forced to play GT due to fuzzies, spirit bomb oki, and the fact that he has the best assist in the game. Yeah UI it pretty tilting and unga bunga, but I still feel like everyone’s only choosing him because he’s much easier to use online versus other characters that are arguably stronger but are more difficult to use (base vegeta comes to mind). Also, UI can be in quite a few disadvantageous states as well. You have to commit pretty hard to his ki blasts, and if they whiff than you’re getting punished. His worst match-up is arguably piccolo since UI’s 5s can’t hit him while there’s an orb out (pretty sure it’s a glitch) and there’s no other way to get rid of them without having to use super committal options.

Squart Squartingson I don’t even want to imagine that lmao. UI’s biggest weakness is his lack of oki but season 2 GT and kid bitch could definitely make up for that. That’s not even including the fact that he could have been the only character that can negate snap mix-up entirely. 😳

The main thing he needs is to nerf some of his counters and make the recovery have a bigger whiff disadvantage. I don't think it would be wise to just nerf him like GT Goku because a lot of people play him. Rather, they just have to nerf a couple of moves and I think he'd be fine. It feels like he needs to be grounded a little more but if you take away those and his gigantic hitbox on the Auto combo I wouldn't have any problems. He keeps his normal power but his weaknesses show a little more. He isn't just an unbeatable and practically unpunishable menace at that point.
Reduce hitboxes on his light autocombo, add more recovery time to ex flip, make the tech uncancelable into anything until he reaches the ground, on hit block or whiff. Then he's fine
I wouldn't change anything about him. Instead, make other characters stronger. There's certain characters that don't have a hard time dealing with him as it is now
That'd kill the game everyone would have steroids and unpunishable moves with broken get up attacks meaning which should add more RPS to this game which it already has a lot of IMO
@@Ayyem93 I've seen that video already but I don't think everyone should be on steroids in a game like dbfz, it's entertaining without MUI imo and the way it's balanced in the game rn (as a low-mid tier character user here) I think it's fine and MUI should just be punishable for the crap he does. And if I remember Core a gaming said something like everybody shouldn't be OP which MUI is, it'd be like saying to fix super smash bros brawl, make everyone as OP as meta knight which is not a good idea imo
My nerf-hammer wishlist: -Punisheable 2H (finish closer to the opponent) -Unrestrained will is treated like a DP (no follow up) OR at least... -Unrestrained Will cannot be used during hard knockdown -5S does not jail into vanish -5L has a smaller vertical hitbox -A assist has less hitstun
Ui goku is part of the reason i am scared to get back into this game becuase I don't want my sessions to be ruined by these players who cheese a new character that no one knows how to challenge yet. Also at the moment other games have my attention.
Something I don’t see anyone talking about is how ui goku can create scramble situation because of his defensive options and reliably win them because of his great normals(5L,2H....etc).
The best way to nerf him would to just lower the damage on some of his movie, like that wake up counter which does a good chunk of health, but it does half a bar so I understand why it’s like that, but lowering his damage would probably be the best plan of action as nerfing these moves could have a Ssj Goku situation, and reworking him would have massive flaws, so lowering the damage would most likely be the best plan of action
I thought of some potential changes I came up with a few weeks ago on reddit. Not to apply all of them at once, but perhaps provide a starting point on what to nerf exactly. 5L - decrease vertical range to make it a less viable option against airborne opponents. 5LL - decrease tracking to about quarter screen, similar to how GT Goku's 5LL's travel distance was decreased. 5S - add 4 frames of whiff recovery to make it 30f, consistent with 2S's 30f of recovery. 2L - no proposed changes since it's already 7f. UI Goku has no 6f jabs and thus his counters are the only surefire way to win scrambles (theoretically). 2H - no proposed changes. 2S - no proposed changes. 6H - no proposed changes. 236 Ground Series - no proposed changes. Them being -2 on block enables UI Goku's frame 4 reversals to work on 6f jabs from the opponent. 214 Series - increase proration on 214H as a combo starter and/or decrease its damage. It wins in so many situations compared to other frame 4 reversals in the game, so nerf its damage to compensate. L+M after recovery - adjust hurtbox so 2H punishes are more consistent and/or adjust knockback so it still gets SKD, but UI Goku is left full screen if they're outside the corner, resetting neutral instead of giving UI Goku his turn for free. He has to spend a bar on vanish and continue the combo if he wants to keep oki.
UI goku must be removed from the game and players who bought him gonna get a refund, end of problem. Maaan imagine if this happens, i will actually cry in happiness.
Nerfs for UI - Remove auto combo tracking ( for everyone also ) - make it so you can't whiff more than two hits with his autocombos before stopping ( again same goes for everyone ) - fix his normals hit boxes by making them smaller - make it so his 2H has more landing lag - make his wake up punch option require a bar - decrease his meter gain I think this for starters wouldn't kill the character but address some of the complains people facing him have
5l - Nerf the ridiculous hitbox and a little bit of stun (Stun is optional but the point is to make this a less solid mash option) 2H - Can cancel but not have air options if blockled, although the leap backwards remain the same (the point is to me punish like everybody else) Ui wakeup - Add meter cost (prob 1 bar) and make easier to punish if blocked. Can still spark out or, with a slight delay use super. (The other options remain the same) A assist - For me this is the worst of all things - Nerf the time until tech, gotta be fast like others DP's. The hitstun remains the same but the active frames are reduced. (I'm not sure about this one but something must me done about it. Also thoght about making it his C assist instead and making his j.236L his A assist)

What makes him worse is the fact that the best team with ui goku is the top two players in the game, UI goku, kid buu, and gt goku. The fact that he synergizes with the best is a problem because I feel like top tiers or strong characters need to be unique to the point where they need certain characters. On the other hand almost all the top tiers synergize basically with anybody and can do all roles, but all the low tiers like zamasu needs certain characters and assist to help him win in neutral. The worst thing about is the fact that UI goku really doesn’t need assist to win neutral, but when you add in gt gokus a assist it’s just basically game over for you if you start blocking lol.

I want them to nerf him in a way that keeps his many options but makes sure none are overwhelming. For instance the wake up punch unable to be canceled after. Make the counter no longer beat safe jump. Make his 2H land much closer to the opponent. Just these things would go a long way and keep him top tier
His wake up punch should be treated like a dp on block. If it’s blocked has a lot of recovery frames so you can punish them accordingly. They can even increase the damage on it. But make it so I can actually punish you if I block it. Being able to cancel that move is what makes it so broken
I think the safe 2h is ok, honestly. If he spamms it, you can adapt. But the massive amount of reversal options he has is ridiculous. In my opinion, he shouldn't be able to call assists after ex flip or do another one if the first is blocked, and his reversal punch should be like any other DP in the game: if it gets blocked, you die. No counter super or vanish.
His wakeup option isnt as overpowered as many scrubs complain. If its that overpowered. Nitrobros would have spammed that on every wakeup instead of onky using it once a match

Z Broly and UI Goku are the two characters in the game that really feel like how they are portrayed on the screen. When I use UI Goku I feel like im gracefully evading my oponents offense and am always one step ahead of them. As if I really am using ultra instinct. When I play Z Broly I really feel like I am a tank laughing off every attack an enemy throws (armor on almost all attacks, ki blast that beat all other normal ki blasts). It's no surprise that the two characters that feel most like the show they come from happen to be top tier characters and often times feel broken. Since the movies/shows they come from, they are portrayed as broken.

I think reducing those hitboxes (especially on his light) and removing the wakeup DR option would put him in a balanced state. He would still be top tier but not totally broken.
I don't think removing his wake up option would be good. Give it more end lag on whiff or block and it's suddenly a much more reasonable tool.

A period of playing this game I’ve grown a deep antipathy for this character. I would compare him to the likes of Jade in MK11 and I don’t mean that in a good way. He’s one step close to making me give up ranked online
Scale down his damage
Scale down his threatening hitboxes (5L and jL remove win-condition)
Give him more end-lag on 2H, to a point where it's easily punishable
Give him more end-lag on whiffed 214LMH
Reduce jail time in his assist and other problem moves
EDIT: removed the counter super vulnerabity suggestion
OR
Make him closer to cannon and implement a new mechanic that gradually increases his end-lag on his major moves the longer he stays out (like what happened in the tournament of power where he lost UI due to exhaustion)

This is very good you hit all the good points a lot of people missed I dont agree with 2 of these though. Making his counter super startup not invincible removes the point of a counter super. Like it becomes spend a bar to get instant air dashed
The other one I dont agree with is the jail time on this assist. Assist A does not have a lot of blockstun at all. Assist B is the same as all beams in the game around 30 frames of blockstun.
That second one is complex af but I really like the idea. Definitely won’t be implemented tho.

Hi, wanted to comment before I finished the video. This is from my responses about UI Goku on reddit :
Now to be clear, UI is strong in places he shouldn’t be. The answer to that though is just make some slight overall nerfs to some of his tools and he becomes more universally fair.
Now why they gave him tools like
• A 2H that saves him in neutral
• A tracking wakeup DP that’s hard to punish in the first place combined with that it can be vanish cancelled, spark cancelled, or counter cancelled on whiff
* his 214H special that is frame 4 reversal, cost half a bar, staggers on ground hit, AND can be spammed like clockwork. Quick revelation for those thinking they can just attack when they see him attack with this move after a flip : ITS FRAME 1 when cancelled from 214X!!!
• A 5L that has a hitbox of a riot shield, combined with a 5LL that low crushes, teleports, and makes dropping a combo completely improbable
• A 2S that catches people jumping, combined with 5S and vanish it jails (why), and 6S...
• 6S is so stupid good for no absolute reason. It counts as a strike until UI throws out his two (albeit very weak) ki snipes. It’s got the hitbox of a tank, beats superdash, reflects basic ki blasts, and has amazing hitstun.
• A command flip that you can only punish with certain characters in the first place. Then there’s 214H(held), an Ex move that looks like a vanish but is safe from 2H. Which leads into a 4 way RPS : a lariat that is plus 2 basically, a command grab that side switches, that frame 4 reversal, and a beam WHILE BEING KI INVUL THE ENTIRE TIME IN ADDITION TO KI SUPERS AND CAN CANCEL QUICKLY INTO ANY OF THE FOUR MENTION OPTIONS!!

Sorry, got very heated for a moment there. S Broly mains know my pain. Now UI being this strong didn’t surprise me at first, but hoo boy did it come back to bite me in the butt later.
5L is in a weird place for me however, as some things make sense while I question ArcSys’ sanity at other things :
• 5L beating SD (superdash)? Stupid
• 5L having a long horizontal hitbox? That’s mostly fine, just need a slight range reduction because hitting from 1/4 the screen is nutty
• 5L having a tall hitbox even hitting behind him? Stupid
• 5L not 6 frame startup? If anything, it needs to be maybe 8 frame startup for being like a lariat but not being good for tick throws is good
It’s now seriously pre patch Bardock B level crazy. Also why does he have counters, unique wakeup option, and supposedly need 3 different timing DPs? (Referencing the comment before this, the person wanted to compensate nerfing UI with making the 214M command grab 28F) No they don’t need to buff that command grab, it’s perfectly good as it is it just needs a better tell signal. If I had my way, I would make it a hitgrab instead of a true command grab because I get hit by it waaaayyy too many times. Otherwise, yeah he becomes strong as he was intended, but now he actually has tells or weaknesses to what he does. He couldn’t “mix” someone after a knockdown with his flips anymore (or by his wakeup tech, I’ll go into detail soon), can’t hit someone out of SD from 5L and 6S (seriously, that move is underratedly spoken about being nerfed), and he gets blown up if he whiffs, blocks, or gets his wakeup DP baited.
His Wakeup option, or Superman punch as someone accurately called it. It’s the first defensive attack tech option ever to exist in the game (aside from wakeup mashing), and it’s got the ability to be cancelled into supers, vanish, and spark while having the ability to tech normally. Even on whiff, he goes flying across the screen and recovers way too quickly for you to punish him.
So obviously, we nerf that move to only light to standard SKD. He shouldn’t be able to wakeup tech on supers. Then we also nerf it to be unable to tech in addition to the wakeup option (so they have to commit to the wakeup option and not get a overpowered double tech. Finally, make it have more recovery if he cancels it or whiffs. That way, it works like a defensive punch that might turn the tides, but it has a huge risk if it gets baited.

Bro 7:01 really had me dying cause I've litteraly been sweating while UI was eating pavement afraid of a TOD lol. They have to calm him down. Recovery for his specials (like Yamcha and Base Vegeta) and hit boxes that don't cover his entire body would be fine.

-the wakeup attack is also his C assists and ALSO goes through supers.
-He can hop through ultimates and finish with his exflip
-His hitboxes are so big that he can punish multiple options with nothing more than a single square input while other characters actually have to react and/or maneuver with the correct inputs to avoid nor punish "this" or "that".
-Has the easiest TODs in the game

Honestly I feel like the best way to “fix” him is to let him keep all his options, but just toning them down slightly. Fix the hitboxes on his normals, fix the insane tracking on the second light hit. They should make his moves more punishable, such as preventing him from acting after his special recovery so that he can actually get punished if it’s blocked, and give a similar treatment to the ex flip by making him have way more recovery on it. As well as possibly an overall damage nerf or maybe give him meter gain as atrocious as 16. Just a few ideas
you forgot to talk about his kame, when he does it backwards on the side of the screen, if the opponent vanishes he gets hit by the kame anyway-

Just don't mess with his combo paths too much, and don't completely destroy his Oki. That's what makes people quit games and boycott you. Flushing what is in many cases years of time investment in training with a character down the toilet is bad.
I actually quit the game not even over something meant to be a nerf, but changes to Vegito's combo structure that broke all my old combos. They weren't even good combos. I don't have patience or time to grind out learning the good combos. I also don't have patience or time to relearn a character and rebuild all my muscle memory while grinding my face against opponents that haven't had their characters touched.
I still main cell. Lol I never bothered with game breaking loops picked up 16 and broly. Broly armor moves are broken. 16 has great moves. Ui goku is ridiculous OP.

The main options for balancing UI IMO would be reducing the spacing on his 2H, reduce the hitboxes on his normals (especially his Ls), decrease the blockstun on his special wakeup and make it and the EX Flip super/vanish cancelable on hit only. Minimize the unga, but don't outright remove his tools.
I’ve played UI goku and let me tell u this.He’s probably the most skilless character that I’ve played in any fighting game
I got the game on launch and i started playing when he came out. I really wanted to main him since I liked UI Goku but when I was playing as him I played as Ginyu some and I thought he was alot more fun. I ended up dropping UI Goku because he is so skilless and I'm not bettering myself.

Fixing UI Goku is easy:
1. *Reduce His Damage Output*
- Either reduce the damage of all his moves by 10% or increase his damage scaling. Preferably the former as thatll allow players to still do most of his combos but they will simply hit a little lighter
2. *Risk/Reward*
-Nerf frame data on some of his moves so that more of his strings are punishable. He should be more of a defensive character and he definitely shouldn't be able to just play on your guard for free like he does.
3. *Reduce his Meter-Build By 10%
-This will round out UI. His excellent defense leads to offense so this offensive limiter will reward those who can consistently win the defensive battle. He already doesnt meed meter so he DEFINITELY shouldnt build meter for other teammates
These 3 key changes will keep UI Goku as pretty much the same character but he'll actually be fair to fight. With these nerfs UI will definitely still be a top tier but he'll take alot more skill to get the most out of him

Not at all. You actually have to learn his combos. For U.I. you can be blind and still reach high ranks.
SSJ2 is a beast at offence, but UI's defensive options just removes the okizeme entirely which is a gigantic deal in FighterZ. UI is more broken. Gohan is just an extremely good battery character. Still top tier but absolutely not on the same level
The only thing i think is broken about teen gohan is the auto combo. Everything else about him is fine IMO. Don’t try to distract people from your main

-Reduce the hitstun of A Assist and don't have it hit on both sides.

Well, this message is going to be long, sooooo... Prepare yourself.
Well, first if we want to try to balance a character, first You need to try to understand the thought behind it (I suppose).
The character was Made with the idea to be a top tier, we can tell because the moves that UI haves, are way too good, but we can Also tell that they wanted to make an easy character to Main, we can tell that because all the character is Made that way (the 2nd hit of autocombo for example or the que Kamehameha that can be z changed with literally everything).
With that say, I think that we should just erase the top tier things (withouth killing the character) to make an easy character who has a lot of chip things BUT it can't make an absurd amount of damage of it.
-So My first change would be the damage output, I would make him do a Lot of damage but still it wouldn't kill You with a 2M (and 4 bars) in midscreen.
-My second change would be to make 214H punishable, because it's absurd that You can do an 4 frames invencible move and no one can punish You because it has 5 frames of cooldown (although that he would still be able to cancel it with itself) and You should cancel 214 L/M with H.
-My third change would be that You can't cancel your Unique wake up move, because the one who would be thinking more of the Unique wake up option would be the player who use UI because he would think when to use it (and no just spam ir withouth thinking) and not the one who just put You i'm knocdown (because You have to read the wake up and then You have to read if he's going to do a counter or a vanish).
-My fourth change would be to make leas hitstun of the jab, because if You share the hit the other Goku UI can still combo of it.
-My other change would be to make the lvl 3 super to not change sides (because we are making a character for starters) but ir wouldn't matter a lot to be real.
-I would fix the bugs with the character (the corner Kamehameha glitch and the 214H glitch)
-My 6th change would be to make the 2h punishable and to make the S+teleport reflectable.
-and My final change would be to make that the A assist haves less hitstun because it's just absurd.
So at the end we would have a character who doesn't kill You of anything, and it doesn't have so many cheaps options that are safe and making the S reflectable UI wouldn't be able to win the turn withouth a lot of heritage but it would be still top tier (but ir would be harder to use competitevily) and it would be an easy pic option because it still has all the other things (like the autocombo,etc)

I agree with the 2, and the assist one. The others I think needs adjustements. I think the 5S jailing into vanish is fine, and the dmg can stay. I think for the 3rd I would decrease the blockstun of the unique wake up move and make the frame 1 counter be 2 or 3 bars instead of 1. Hitstun of the jab isn't a problem, the hitbox is. I agree with your ideas and what to nerfs but I would nerfs the moves in a slightly different way.
This kind of what happened in smash 4 with bayonetta (except bayonetta was way worse). They can both force the opponent to play how they want, they have insane counters, and nerfing them means changing the character and their identity. Finally they are also both dlc characters. Let’s hope that they handle the situation properly.
Suggestions: Make the "unique" wakeup option not be able to spark cancel or teleport cancel and his *down heavy* , *qcb heavy* , and *counter super* unsafe on whiff and shield
Edit: I know he was already nerfed but I just wanted to break him more:
Slow down his 5L so that it has a good hitbox but slower start-up
Change his 6S so that it has less active time (3-6 frames) so that you can't just bypass ki blasts
I like that. His unique wakeup should garunte a punish if blocked. No vanish or counter lvl 1 shenanigans. You knocked him down, so why are you getting punished for it?

@@thelastmastergamer2846 To be fair, UI wakeup is predictable. Usually I'm too scared to apply pressure on a UI Goku because they can just punch me in the face. So I have to just walk and back up and they escape pressure. Even when they actually do it, if you block it, they can just cancel into basically anything. If you don't punish the vanish, you're in pressure now which sucks. They can also counter which you can wait out, but damn if it doesn't suck to jab too early. UI wakeup is incredibly broken

I played him for about a week when he came out and actually felt dirty with how disgustingly overtuned and easy he was. Everything he does beats the game for you. Don't need to learn to block, don't need to learn to wake-up properly, don't need to learn to move, don't need to learn any hard combos cos his bnbs turn into ToDs just by adding one assist and doing the same route twice in a row.
Blocking UI's dp puts YOU into a 50/50, blocking UI's wake-up teleport puts YOU into a 50/50 and getting hit by his pseudo dp launcher lets him reset you multiple times with no effort cos he also has the easiest iad crossup in the game. Horrible balance

Yeah no. Gt was really good, a little bit too much - but ui goku is what gt goku was on steroids. At least you actually had an advantage state against gt. UI goku has options that literally makes it so in every situation he has an advantage, regardless of what’s happening. Gt goku was really good because his advantage state and neutral were really really good, but at least you COULD have an advantage against him.
Squart Squartingson Nah man, the state of the meta back in season 2 made it so that you were almost forced to play GT due to fuzzies, spirit bomb oki, and the fact that he has the best assist in the game. Yeah UI it pretty tilting and unga bunga, but I still feel like everyone’s only choosing him because he’s much easier to use online versus other characters that are arguably stronger but are more difficult to use (base vegeta comes to mind). Also, UI can be in quite a few disadvantageous states as well. You have to commit pretty hard to his ki blasts, and if they whiff than you’re getting punished. His worst match-up is arguably piccolo since UI’s 5s can’t hit him while there’s an orb out (pretty sure it’s a glitch) and there’s no other way to get rid of them without having to use super committal options.

The main thing he needs is to nerf some of his counters and make the recovery have a bigger whiff disadvantage. I don't think it would be wise to just nerf him like GT Goku because a lot of people play him. Rather, they just have to nerf a couple of moves and I think he'd be fine. It feels like he needs to be grounded a little more but if you take away those and his gigantic hitbox on the Auto combo I wouldn't have any problems. He keeps his normal power but his weaknesses show a little more. He isn't just an unbeatable and practically unpunishable menace at that point.
Reduce hitboxes on his light autocombo, add more recovery time to ex flip, make the tech uncancelable into anything until he reaches the ground, on hit block or whiff. Then he's fine

Something I don’t see anyone talking about is how ui goku can create scramble situation because of his defensive options and reliably win them because of his great normals(5L,2H....etc).
The best way to nerf him would to just lower the damage on some of his movie, like that wake up counter which does a good chunk of health, but it does half a bar so I understand why it’s like that, but lowering his damage would probably be the best plan of action as nerfing these moves could have a Ssj Goku situation, and reworking him would have massive flaws, so lowering the damage would most likely be the best plan of action
I thought of some potential changes I came up with a few weeks ago on reddit. Not to apply all of them at once, but perhaps provide a starting point on what to nerf exactly.
5L - decrease vertical range to make it a less viable option against airborne opponents.
5LL - decrease tracking to about quarter screen, similar to how GT Goku's 5LL's travel distance was decreased.
5S - add 4 frames of whiff recovery to make it 30f, consistent with 2S's 30f of recovery.
2L - no proposed changes since it's already 7f. UI Goku has no 6f jabs and thus his counters are the only surefire way to win scrambles (theoretically).
2H - no proposed changes.
2S - no proposed changes.
6H - no proposed changes.
236 Ground Series - no proposed changes. Them being -2 on block enables UI Goku's frame 4 reversals to work on 6f jabs from the opponent.
214 Series - increase proration on 214H as a combo starter and/or decrease its damage. It wins in so many situations compared to other frame 4 reversals in the game, so nerf its damage to compensate.
L+M after recovery - adjust hurtbox so 2H punishes are more consistent and/or adjust knockback so it still gets SKD, but UI Goku is left full screen if they're outside the corner, resetting neutral instead of giving UI Goku his turn for free. He has to spend a bar on vanish and continue the combo if he wants to keep oki.
UI goku must be removed from the game and players who bought him gonna get a refund, end of problem.
Maaan imagine if this happens, i will actually cry in happiness.

- Remove auto combo tracking ( for everyone also )
- make it so you can't whiff more than two hits with his autocombos before stopping ( again same goes for everyone )
- fix his normals hit boxes by making them smaller
- make it so his 2H has more landing lag
- make his wake up punch option require a bar
- decrease his meter gain
I think this for starters wouldn't kill the character but address some of the complains people facing him have
As a ui Goku player... he’s way to strong and I stole way to many matches with him
5l - Nerf the ridiculous hitbox and a little bit of stun (Stun is optional but the point is to make this a less solid mash option)
2H - Can cancel but not have air options if blockled, although the leap backwards remain the same (the point is to me punish like everybody else)
Ui wakeup - Add meter cost (prob 1 bar) and make easier to punish if blocked. Can still spark out or, with a slight delay use super. (The other options remain the same)
A assist - For me this is the worst of all things - Nerf the time until tech, gotta be fast like others DP's. The hitstun remains the same but the active frames are reduced. (I'm not sure about this one but something must me done about it. Also thoght about making it his C assist instead and making his j.236L his A assist)
