Lol Documentation says the API supports Multi-language such as English and Spanish. It seems this API is very raw for now. In any case the Room Database queries might be improved and work as fast as possible. And AppSerach looks as a great solution for a quick MVP and small apps
Wow, AppSearch uses the Icing Search Library under the hood (written in c++). I assumed it would be sqlite with fts. Will need to compare performance and memory usage.
I don't really know what Room does under the hood, and I know that we could improve your search function, but it looks like a lot of loop and objects to make a simple query, we need to try and compare the results. Pretty cool that we have a "new" option rn
Hi, it would be interesting to see your review on some open source projects, about structure of project, technologies and some features. Like code review of project
What if I got an app built with room and I want to integrate the AppSearch API with room in order to search within the tables despite only using the Appsearch database
That's a good question. I think you can't do this, at least from now, but I think you could have some metadata, stored into Appsearch, of the data stored into Room. Then, you execute the searching into Appsearch and then get the full data from Room. Of course you need to have a large dataset to get the benefits from Appsearch performance. Does it make sense?
Does the todos are saved in app search DB once you close the app, or need t create and add them every time to the session ? (and thanks for the video !)
Amazing implementation of AppSearch , but soon no one will search this way because the test is not semantically related! My approach is with RAG & Vector Search with MatchEngine Vertex AI. If you manage to integrate, Gemini Pro/Ultra your APP will be Smart with gen Ai. Sorry for my bad English😊
Where's the comparison of search with over DBs? The title wasn't proved.

Thanks Philipp for another useful video 👍

Is it a search across form elements or a search across all application elements?
SQL isnt fast enough? xD Again Google reinventing the wheel with a useless library for someones promotion
Doc is not saying anything if it supports encryption, how are the documents secured ?

Room simply does SQLite search. You can checkout the generated code from your DAO.

Does it work for KMM

Would be interested in an answer too.

The data are stored in database, so it will be saved in the app.
hi Philipp, do you know Shakhzod Ilkhomov?
Will this work on multiplatform ?
What about FTS on Room DB?
why not to use room with FTS?
Does this work on KMM too? Can I use this API on the iOS side too using KMM?
Landila ulemu wako @Philip
Nice tutorial, but still I think for most apps it's an overkill
