    I just chanced on this video and within the 1st few minutes I notice roads that look very familiar and then I jumped back to the beginning and saw the Peters Township logos on the garbage can then I see all the roads that I also ride and drive on...
    Nice bike.

    Very useful video in fact. I went for more up right position bike the T120, but just with the same engine, different mapping of course , more relaxed maybe. And a little more comfortable seat probably. And yes with a litlle wind deflector that helps with the wind, since you don’t go on riding like a maniac these bikes are very capable. The back roads are the more pleasant roads to do distances on this bikes but some motorway is bearable, at least to me. If someone doesn’t hang on the wind or if they feel to uncomfortable with it. They can only go by car. Having a Bike means that you want to feel the elements, the smells good or bad, everything, because the biker is exposed. For me that’s on of the attraction assets of riding a bike. If other negative in puts ar too strong, again, it will be better to choose another kind of vehicle to travel. If go on a trip with a bike the wind will be always there. And to me it’s normally a good thing.👍🏻thanks !

    Nice work! Very comprehensive. Was looking at the speed twin, however the lack of cruise control helped sway me towards the r ninet pure for the same price.

      Cruise control would have been a nice addition, especially if this is a bike that you intend to take on longer trips. As it happens I have my Tracer 9 GT for long trips, and yes, the cruise control is very nice (I never had a bike with cruise control before this one).

    I’ve found that the wind is not a big issue if you have an good aerodynamic helmet. My scorpion helmet is better than my Arai in terms of aerodynamics. It cuts through the wind better and doesn’t push my head back like my Arai. The only time I need a windscreen is during the winter.

    Hi, nice enjoyable review. Since I am seriously thinking about getting a Speed Twin mainly for mixed used I just wanted to ask you how does the bike behave at medium high speeds on the motorway in terms of stability given the rather short wheelbase and rather vertical forks? I'd use it for travelling aswell and some motorway. Thank you.

    • @TheSunderlands1
      @TheSunderlands1  ปีที่แล้ว

      The bike performs well at sustained highway speeds, no issues. There are very little vibrations, and the bike feels planted. Of course at faster highway speeds that defy speed limits you’ll have to deal with the wind pushing back on you, but that’s also true with any naked bikes.

      @@TheSunderlands1 cheers. Surprising i thought the Speed Twin was very much a fun machine on twisty roads with big drawbacks on motorway in terms of “how much you can sit and relax” … if that makes sense ! Good to know

    • @TheSunderlands1
      @TheSunderlands1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve gone several hours at speed on the highway to get to “twisty” destinations, the bike is very solid. Of course it would be nice to have cruise control, but okay. The bike is a very good all-purpose tool overall. If you had to travel multiple days, it wouldn’t be an issue if you buy aftermarket saddle bags or tail bags (example SW Motech), I did this a few years back when I owned a Yamaha FZ-07 and strapped on a bunch of Kriega dry bags!

    I've been curious about that with a Speed Twin, thanks for your input. You tuber Eliott (VanBlam) rides his Speed Twin all over with no windscreen and prefers it. Often times windscreens will offer a tradeoff between wind protection and turbulence. No windscreen is always better than annoying turbulence or buffeting. My experience is that it is trial and error with windscreens on a naked bike.

    • @TheSunderlands1
      @TheSunderlands1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I couldn’t agree more: I’ve chased windscreens on my previous FZ-07 and Street Triple, for those occasions where I was taking road trips, and they all ended up with turbulence. On a naked bike I always prefer no screen for the smoothest flow, or maybe a very small screen at best to help take wind off the mid chest area. But once the screen is tall enough to divert wind into your helmet, well, you’re likely on a long expensive path to get perfection.

      @@TheSunderlands1 I also have a 2016 Fz07 and it seems rather windscreen friendly for my short stature. First I tried a Puig, no buffeting, but not much coverage. I eventually got a National Cycle V-Stream with a small deflector on top and this setup works great. It takes all the wind pressure of my torso. I'm currently looking to add possibly a Speed Twin. What I like is that it feels and looks physically small for such a big engine.

    Thanks for another great video. Currently own MT07, enjoy touring on it, but want something with a bit more power and less vibrations. Something overall more refined. Do you think a speed twin is a worthy upgrade?

    • @TheSunderlands1
      @TheSunderlands1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had a FZ-07 a few years back, and rode that from PA all the way to the Tail of the Dragon, so it is a capable fun bike. However the Speed Twin does brings on that refinement and effortless power you’re talking about, it’s definitely different than the MT. It also has a deeper throatier sound, which is nice and goes well with the vibe of the bike. So overall it is a nice upgrade over the MT, if you’re looking to keep that same sort of naked bike riding experience but in a more powerful classic sort of style.

  • @andyl2991
    @andyl2991 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is so awesome you had a fz07. I have the fz07 but debating to get the z900rs or the speed twin. What do you think I should do? Its such a hard choice. I still like the fz07 but you think it justifies to upgrade to ethier the speed twin or z900rs.

    • @TheSunderlands1
      @TheSunderlands1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the type of riding you intend to mostly do: for a commuter bike with occasional fun in the back roads, the FZ-07 (or MT-07 as it’s now called) is a fine choice, and a fun choice at that. But if you want to “feel” the torque as you accelerate and the horsepower that just keeps the bike effortlessly going, then the Speed Twin is the next step up, as well as the Z900RS. Between the Speed and the Z900, I think it comes down to your subjective preference in looks, and maybe seat height. I would swing a leg over both bikes, and take a serious look at the Z900RS SE. Both the Speed and the Z900 are a more powerful experience than the FZ-07, but to your point, upgrading to a new motorcycle is sometimes a subjective feeling where you “feel” you want something new. If you don’t have that passion right. now, sticking with the FZ is the sensible choice. But if you are ready for something else and maybe have a little bonus from work coming your way, let yourself be tempted! I don’t regret getting the Speed Twin.

      @@TheSunderlands1 yah you are definitely right in many ways. I was just itching to get somthing to new and spending my money lol I think the z900rs would be alittle different from the fz07 because it's a 4 cylinder engine while the speed twin is the same type of engine as the fz07. But I like the look of the speed twin alittle better then the z900rs. So do I go with the looks of the speed twin or go for the different engine of the 4 cylinder. I think if I would have to get a new bike from having a fz07. The choice would probably be z900rs but man the speed twin looks sexy lol.

    what made you choose this over the t120?

    • @TheSunderlands1
      @TheSunderlands1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Frankly it’s the looks, which is subjective. I did like the more “classic” look of the T120, but decided that I wanted a sportier look of the Speed. I did quite a bit of back and forth looking and sitting on the bikes at the dealer, and the T120 would have been a good choice as well. The Speed is a little bit sportier while the T120 is a bit on the softer side, so it also depends how “spirited” you want to ride, but frankly I didn’t buy the bike to drag my knee while blasting down canyon roads at insane speeds….so in that respect it is worth looking at the T120, but I have no regrets with the Speed!

    Can you cruise at 100mph(160kph) ? Otherwise no....

    • @TheSunderlands1
      @TheSunderlands1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Since I’m in the US, I’ll never know what cruising at 100 mph feels like. Might get away with 80 mph in some parts of the country. The bike can of course hit 100 mph, but staying there for extended periods of time depends on your tolerance for wind resistance, frankly, and where it ends up on the rom range. For extended cruising at those speeds it feels more like the job of something like a Multistrada V4 with its 170 HP of autobahn-slaying power!

      It also depends on your risk tolerance with the law. In California it's a minimum $900 fine, up to 30 days of license suspension, and 2 points on your driving record for 7 years. Your insurance rates will most likely go up significantly or could be dropped. This is for a first time offense.

      I cruise with my buddies around 90-100mph on the freeway, on my MT-07. The Speed Twin should handle it easily, assuming it’s not a windy day, it should be fine.
