We had a Nissan Sentra back in the mid 90's. It's good to see the new one. All I can say is that Nissan is a reliable everyday driver. I hope this car is also a tough car despite its simple style.

Great review Tony. Its great that you used a base model for your review rather than a top of the line trim everyone else uses, I think its more realistic of what most people will be buying in this category. My cousin bought this car a few moths ago, so I had the opportunity to test drive. Although it is very roomy, I felt that it was lacking many amenities that should have been standard for the almost $19,000 he paid. The car was missing things like steering wheel audio controls, Bluetooth, satellite radio, back up camera, heated seats, etc. The CVT was also very noisy and the car felt very slow. I think there are other cars that give you more for your $, like the new corolla, mazda 3, Hyundai elantra, ford focus, dodge dart, kia forte and maybe even the Honda civic. So Tony, if you had to choose, what will be your top 3 choices in this segment?

I just got one of these used with low miles, I'm loving it so far. It's great for a city commute and beach trips! Hoping it handles ok in snow this winter..😂

Jay C I drove mine with the tires it came with, I very rarely slid on the snow cover roads, and if it did the braking system kicked in and stopped it very fast! I was more than impressed!

I am unsure of the 2013, but my 2015 has a back up cam :)

I concur, been driving a 2014 and the mileage is impressive and the engine/CVT combo does a nice job of getting the car moving, I am getting 37 mpg mixed driving on ECON setting.

What do you think about the cvt transmition? I have heard that is not durable
It’s a bit unusual, but works to improve fuel efficiency
My 98 Corolla has a similar seat fabric design, only in beige, stands the reason why I got seat covers from the get-go.

Would you say the base Sentra is more likely aimed for fleet sales, like car rental companies? It is better to look at than the model it replaces, but still lagging in interior and amenities as was mentioned.
I haven't seen many of them on the rental lots. Probably their development cycle had them behind the other companies. they'll catch up on the amenities side in an early mid-cycle refresh - I hope!
The 2014's ride is a bit busy and choppy but it does have great steering feel and I actually got 37 mpg around town this is better than some mini cars.

I purchased the Sentra SR 2013 and 2014 SR as well, the 2014 rides sooooooo much better. My wife and I fight over who's taking the 2014 Sentra...lol....Neither one of us want to drive the 2013 Sentra. Lesson learned, never buy the new model when it first comes out....always wait for the second or third year model. My advice, stay away from the 2013 if you can! Other than that I love my 2014 Sentra.

The model I tested didn't have one, but I'm sure that it was an option.
is this the Sentra FE+ S ? and if not then what's the difference between this one and the FE+ S ?

This car has very tough, and in my opinion, better competition, the Civic Corolla Forte Elantra Cruze Focus all are superior in most categories.
I agree. I like the exterior design a lot - the interior is a bit behind as stated. It's competitive...

Yeah, yeah, yeah, Everybody said 2013 Nissan Sentra drive nice, design bla, bla ,bla. I own this car for almost three years and the rear shock went out and noise at 35K miles, the exhaust heat insulator broke and create a rattling noise under car at 55K miles, the CVT transmission broke down at 75 miles DO YOU REALY THINK THIS IS A RELIABLE CAR?..... before you buy this car ask to the previous owner with 70k miles their experiences with this car... Good luck everyone !....
Veva hello could u tell me if that car did the same thing as mine,i just bought this 2 weeks ago ,when i'm down a hill and feels like it is driving in L not in D like changing noise a little and feels when it is a hybrid car but the difference this one make more noise ,can that be because is a ECO car ? Please if u could answer it would be nice

The pattern on the fabric is really ugly and dated, but I actually prefer that velour stuff over the scratchy, rough, burlap looking upholstery they put in most cars these days. It feels awful. At least velour is soft against the skin.
I agree - about the poor choice of fabric in the Sentra - hate the velour stuff with a passion. go leather :)
Eh, I'd rather spend $2,000 on other areas of my life, such as hair plugs, than leather upholstery. Beside, my thighs don't sweat and stick to velour in the summer like they do leather.
This fabric in this car REALLY reminds me of the Chevrolet Cobalt / Chevrolet Cavilier's fabric seats. They are HORRIBLE.
