    I use The Ordinary Buffet peptide serum mixed with their Niacinamide serum, followed by a light, fragrance-free SPF lotion in the a.m. I use their Retinol serum at night, followed by 2 drops of squalene or jojoba oil for light moisturizing overnight. I have oily skin in summer and combo in winter.

    Just started my skin care regime ~ The science behind The ordinary is hard to argue with, they don't use marketing at all. I got their mineral SPF 30, Their VitC serum 30% in silicone, Their Buffet peptide serum (just loaded full of everything your skin could ever want!) My first retinol (0.2% in squaleane) and finally Their organic cold pressed rose-hip seed oil for hydration and photo damage repair. I cant wait and their prices are ..... simply perfect.

    Peptides are natural biological or artificially manufactured SHORT not LONG chains of amino acid monomers linked by peptide (amide) bonds. Peptides are SHORT polymers of amino acids linked by peptide (amide) bonds.

    I had given up on peptides. I've tried The Ordinary Buffet, a couple from Peter Thomas Roth, one each from Sanitas and Hydropeptide and a straight Synthe 6 peptide serum. I swore off peptides because it seemed like a combination of AHAs, BHAs and niacinamide in my Biologique P50 lotion, a CE Ferulic serum, a HA serum from NIOD and a Px tretinoin product were doing as much as you can do aside from a good sunscreen on 60+ skin that has seen neither a needle, a laser or a surgeon's knife. Then you had to go and do this vlog. You got me looking for something new in the peptide world I had never seen. Not sure if you can get this brand in the UK - it's Canadian, though I'm from the US. I've tried their older peptide formulations, but this one sounds interesting. I may give it a try.

    I found this on the Ordinary website under the information about Matrixl: "It is best to not use Peptides in the same routine as the following products: Direct acids, LAA (L-Ascorbic Acid) and ELAA (Ethylated Ascorbic Acid). In addition, we would recommend avoiding the use of products containing copper peptides in the same routine as strong antioxidants as well as direct acids/LAA/ELAA."
    I don't know if they only mean mixing peptides with "the Ordinary" acid formulations or any acids at all. I think they neutralise one another.

    I use peptides in my routine bc I buy into Environ’s skincare philosophy but Dr Dray says that there is little scientific evidence that says peptides in skincare are effective. She’s very evidence based and a dermatologist. For those you wanting to geek out on the science of skincare, you should check out her channel.

      I have checked her out...I find her to be negeitive...about most products...I no longer watch her vids. there are other better reliable sources for knowledge...that my take-away

    • @AmaliaAlbinaru
      @AmaliaAlbinaru 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@la-chicagitana9949 She, like most dermatologists and scientists, are negative about a lot of "anti-aging" products bc she's not trying to sell you things that only make a difference that is visible under a microscope with an $80+ price tag slapped on. Having an actual degree and working with skin for a living will naturally result in being skeptical and "negative" about a whole bunch of over-hyped marketing bc you've actually been in a lab and studied how skin works. I don't mean just her specifically, I constantly see these types of comments about doctors and people who have actually studied the science of these products, oh "they're negative". I guess people really don't like being told that they've been fooled into believing far too much hype. If we were to believe what skincare companies tell us we would believe in all sorts of massive exaggerations, for years they tried to tell everybody that Hyaluronic Acid is some sort of anti-aging miracle worker instead of just something that temporarily draws moisture to the top layers of our skin that makes skin look temporarily and minimally plumped. If anything I'm the most skeptical about "influencers" who are positive about most skincare ingredients while knowing little about the actual science behind it. "I tried this product for a week or two and I FELT it was doing something" is not necessarily evidence of anything, it's the same as people being given placebo pills that are supposedly medicine claiming they felt so much better immediately after taking the pill. These influencers might be more "relatable" to the average person but that doesn't make their opinions more reliable. I like people like Nadine, Labmuffin, Dr Dray and so on bc they take a pragmatic approach and delve deeper, the same can't be said for most youtubers who might be more "positive" but whose opinion carries the same weight as "I heard from my neighbour who heard from her friend that it worked for her".

    The brand Dermaquest is notable for it peptide complex products as well.Also, the German brand RAU (I do not know of this brand is available in the UK or US) has some products that are true peptide-bombs.The (very expensive) brand Osmosis also has some impressive peptide loaded serums!But of course the Ordinary would be a good source, and very nice to your wallet too.And... the peptide Argireline is one that CAN work instantly (for a quick fix, a night out, o.s.l.t.), for example in the product Instantly Ageless by Jeunesse.I use all of the above, with truly amazing results.Greetings from Europe, The Netherlands

      I currently use 3 Osmosis Products, not all at the same time or day of course!I use Osmosis Catalyst AC-11 lever 3 DNA repair serum Osmosis Stemfactor Growth Factor serum Osmosis Renew level 4 vitamin A serum

    • @luxy1193
      @luxy1193 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Constantijn van den Hout ...thanks for replying. I currently use the Osmosis clarify and the correct level 3, I rotate them...can you tell me if these have the correct amount of peptides of do I need to add the products you mentioned you use? I am running out so will be placing another order but this time I will get the level 4 only so I want to know which other product to add onto my order as I need peptide serum. Can you please tell me, do you believe growth factors actually work, there is no studies that show they work, I don’t want to be wasting my money as Osmosis is very expensive and I live in the uk so I have to pay extra duty and tax costs when I order this. Many thanks x

    • @constantijnvandenhout5855
      @constantijnvandenhout5855 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have to honestly tell you that I purchased the Osmosis Renew level 4 the last, before that I only had the former mentioned two Osmosis products, but now I use the OR Renew level 4 the most of the three.Sometimes I even use this one with ON TOP a retinol 1% , let's say Paula's Choice 1%,(but I also do this with my tretinoine cream 0.05%, when I think I need heavy guns that night. My skin can stand it very well, I am sure that is not the case with everybody, so take heed!As for the stemcells, or growthfactors, I am unsure, just like you are, I use this one the least, and I will not purchase that one again since I have seen better results with the Renew level 4. I do hold Osmosis in very high esteem though, and will keep on using the Renew level 4.When it somes down to the point: I always come back to my basic tretinoine, and beside that some heavily peptide loaded serums.The proof is in the pudding, isn't it? I am 58 but look at least 10 to 15 years younger... and some even think I am even younger still, and I did not look that way two years ago, that's for sure ( when I started my skincare journey, being appaled at my "sudden"" ageing head in the mirror).My credits go for the most part to the consistent use of tretinoine (did magic for my droopy upper eye lids!), but I have to emphasize that consistent use is the magical word when it comes to skin care.

    • @luxy1193
      @luxy1193 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Constantijn van den Hout ....I use the Spain version of tretinoin as it’s not easily accessible here in the uk. I used the 0.05% only on tues and sat nights...my skin cannot handle more than this, rest of the nights I use the Osmosis. I am 44 and ppl say I look 28 lol...I will never stop tretinoin even if it’s only once per week I will still use it. In the mornings I use the glycolic Toner from the ordinary, I then apply my Vit C by timeless and then matrixyl sinthe 6 and coq10 and ha serums which are also by timeless, then the cereve pm moisturiser, I only use spf if going out the house.
      I’m really unsure about the other two Osmosis products. Infact I’m unsure about growth factors full stop! because from what I read only beauty bloggers bang on about how wonderfully they are for the skin but where is the research behind the proof that they actually work. A lot of ppl see these videos promoting products and expensive ones at that and make us feel that we need that in our life...it’s very confusing and we could be wasting so much money on nothing.
      I think for now I will stick to what I am using and order the level 4 only. As for peptide serum I would love to find one so will continue my search as none of the ones shown on this video really seem to cut it for me. As for growth factors...hmmm🤔 not sure at all about this so will not spend 💰

      I use both of those as well. I think it is personal preference. I like using Niacinamide first, in the am, followed by Vit. C, sunscreen and then primer. Niacinamide tightens my pores under makeup - win! Buffet I use after dermarolling in in the evening.

    Thanks! I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate them. I cleanse once at night due to oily skin. I use Tarte's Knockout Tingling Treatment nightly (exfoliation & niacinamide). I'm working on increasing the # of nights I use Retin-A & on the nights I don't use it I use a vit c serum. The Ordinary now recommends that we don't use peptides in conjunction with any acids. It looks like I'd need to have nights when I don't use Knockout, Retin-A, or vit c in order to use peptides OR wash my face in the am to get a separate additional circumstance to use the peptides. Any thoughts? Thanks again!

    Thank you Nadine for your informative video. I used to love the Halo powder by Smashbox which I was advised at the time had a mix of multiple peptides. They have since stopped producing this product though have replaced it with their Halo liquid foundation. I am unsure how much peptide they have included in this preparation. I have not tried it as I struggle with liquid foundations... They seems to deposit some solid on my skin... Possibly due to silicone. Wondering if you might be able to shed some light. I'm not sure how active the ingredients are but I felt it worked for me. Im on my second bottle of the ordinary buffet and third bottle of matrixyl but I give up. • @ItsLoriK
      @ItsLoriK 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @J Crash She doesn't talk shit. She talks using scientific studies like Dr. Lim does. We then decide if we want to use the ingredient/product.

    • @ItsLoriK
      @ItsLoriK 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @J Crash For someone who acts as if he's educated you sure make an assumption regarding me based on what evidence? Lol! You're funny. I'm educated, read studies, know how to read them (that's a big deal), & don't just listen to some dude shit talking on YT. I've also started watching a few of her videos & haven't seen the bs. She gives information & then we decide what if anything we want to do with it. It's akin to the retinol thing. You can choose to use prescription Trentinoin based on more/longer studies or choose an otc derivative & hope for more positive research to come out.
      Now, there are some situations where you can't get the best type or even good studies like with nutrition. That makes getting to the truth more difficult.
      As far as Dr. Dray being anorexic/bullemic I hope she gets healthy with that. It was definitely hard to watch especially when her hair was pulled back and she was wearing a tank top. However, just because she's ill in one area it does not mean she's talking shit regarding the field she's educated in. To even elude to such a thing is just silly. Should you not see your dentist because he has clinical depression? Come on now.

    • @ItsLoriK
      @ItsLoriK 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @J Crash I read exactly what you wrote. "Some of the stuff she said in the past...". That was it. You didn't mention when or what.
      Ahh. Yet another assumption. So, if I recently started watching her you assume you've watched more because you started less recently than me. Seems like you want a pissing contest. Sorry, but I give no shits about ego.
      So if she truly made a mistake somewhere, if she did, then everything is shit talk? Really? 🙄
      Oh &, because you can't stop yourself, you do that ass thing again. I believe all doctors. Are you part of the regressive radical left because you speak pretty black or white. Yeah. I've lost lots of weight & gained lots of health listening to nutritional advise from just doctors. Pfft. I read, listen, analyze, & digest. I take the person into account not just if he has certain degrees or not. Still, when it comes to dermatology basics I'm sure as hell not going to totally shit on a dermatologist even if 1 mistake was made & put a YT commenter on a pedestal.
      Lastly, you're assumptions strike again! So, a dentist with depression will fuck up your teeth, huh? Just how much do you actually know (not "think" you know) about the experts you look to or even people in your daily life? You think you know all about them, their illnesses, their thoughts, their secrets? I wish you would turn down a procedure from a highly qualified depressed dentist! This shit's getting too retarded so I'm out. For fuck's sake, man?

    Nadine, you recommended to layer peptides. What else are single peptides aside Matrixyl 3000 in the Ordinary range? As for results within weeks, I started using the No 7 serum in my early 30s. Within 2 or 3 weeks' time, my husband noticed tighter skin on me (even though I had not felt I had particular problems). He started using it too. And now in the early second half of my 30s people keep guessing my age as in mid to late 20s, I do blame the no 7 for it, which up until recnetly was my only anti aging effort skin-wise. Or, peptides as you now educated me!!

      This is a great question but I think only cosmetic chemists behind these products could answer it if I am not wrong. The final product should be active/effective, stabilized, emollient, absorbent and it needs lots of testing in the labs how they work together. Maybe writing to Ordinary will be the best option but curious to hear Nadine's opinion.

    I've used Perricone products and am using them and I have to agree, they are very expensive. I'm on my second tube of the neuropeptide and second jar of Neuropeptide firming moisturizer. I keep using them waiting to see miracles but so far...not so much. I have dry skin due to Retin A so I need something rich. Is there something else you can recommend that's better. I also dermaroll...whenever I can remember.

    My favourite product is "Mizon Peptide 500" (a Korean brand), it is a copper peptide and is about £12.00 - I can't afford Noid copper peptide - on my face as I am derma rolling and after, I also use i when I do a NuFace micro-current session. I wash with a lactic acid cleanser called Lactacyd Derma Gel soap free and it can be used on the face and body Strivectin sometimes at night but I think it is a little over rated to be honest as is the Ordinary peptide I'd rather used Rosehip oil with Frankincense oiland Helichrysum Italicum oil (“Everlasting” or “Immortal” essential oil), the latter got rid of a patch of hyperpigmentation although it did not budge a spot on my jaw which I think is deep! I discovered Helichrysum Italicum oil after seeing L'occitane on the shopping channel QVC selling their £70 face cream with this oil in it. I am on a bugget and can not afford to pay £70 on a face cream but where there's a will there is a way to get what you want without having to spend too much.

      I can say the same about Mizon ampule. Currently using The ordinary Buffett. Its ok but not better than Mizon. Also used Mizon peptide ampule together with mizon peptide cream (got it for 7 euro in ebay). This is very ordinary normal cream. Have You notice that in Mizon snail product line there are plenty of peptides?

    • @LizzieWhiz
      @LizzieWhiz 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh thanks for the info....more Mizon products to try out. Have you tried out Lidls Cuvee serum and creams? I recently bought the serum and I think it is fantastic, I have a little sundamage on my cheek and it is fading so I am going to buy some more and maybe try the cream to, they retail for £7.99 and are only sold online. I have a NuFace microcurrent device and I usually do a bentonite face mask -mit helps conduct the microcurrent better - once a week, then use the Mizon Peptide 500, Well last night I decided to add The Ordinary Argireline Solution 10% aand the Mizon Peptide 500 together then the conductive gel on and worked away at lifting the facial muscles. This morning my fine lines around my eyes were so much improved, so this is going to be a new regime I will kepp up. The holidays are starting tomorrow at least for me I am also going do some microneedling.

      Hello, Lidl serum do not know. There is Lidl in France, Ill look up if my local store has it. I just fond that Mizon blue collagen line too has peptides in it. I used them last year and liked, my friends too. I liked Mizon s venom vrinkle tox cream with 4% syn + ake, Secret key red Syn ake line was also ok and affordable. They are only ones who have toner and emulsion, eye cream was really good under makeup. Do not buy It|^s Skin Syn ake serum, it does nothing, however their White arbutin serum and propolis serums are ok. The Ordinary argireline is good too, currently using it in mornings together with serum for pores and one more serum with ginseng or propolis or centella asiatica, depending what i need.
      I just came for hollydays to Riga and found that supermarkets and lokal Boots type shops are full of antiage products including peptide serums produced in Russia, Belarus and Poland, really cheap. So peptides are nothing expensive and extraordinary, everybody makes them. So there is no point to pay too much just for brand name.
      Some years ago i was in DIY trend and was bying all those active ingredients, all those matrixils, vit C and so on and mixing with base serum or cream. To buy korean or The ordinary serum is about the same price as DIY.
      Now i just check ebay and other korean online sellers which has better prices and sales and buy then.

    Are peptides impacted by Ph? Can I layer a peptide serum directly after a leave-on AHA which is formulated at a low Ph? There are a lot of discussions re combining acids and retinols or vitamin c but I haven’t found similar information on peptides. Since peptides are the building blocks of proteins and proteins can be denatured by changes in ph (and heat), it seems possible to me that peptides could become denatured or at least less effective if applied after a product that purposely lowers the ph of skin. It has been decades since I was in a science class, so I may be missing something basic here. Thanks for another informative video.

      @whatnext715 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      andrabeta1971 Thanks for the response. I imagine the ph issue would be similar for all peptide bonds. I think I’d rather be safe than sorry and won’t use them after a low ph product even if it is a time saver. It’d be a shame to waste the money I spend on Peptide serums.

      SonR R This is my dilemma as well, as you can see from this thread. I’m no expert on recognizing peptides but often the word “peptide” will be in the ingredient list. For example, matryxl syn6 is often listed as palmitoyl tripeptide-38. Also if a formula includes peptides, often it will be one of the ingredients that the manufacturer highlights in their marketing. I hope as more and more products w peptides come on the market, there will be more research performed and available to help us use them effectively.

    Great videos, I think Ive gone through them all and learned so much. Only place I am a bit confused is how to layer up my serums. I've gone crazy with the ordinary and love them. Improved my skin over a day. But which order is the best? I am currently using
    Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%
    Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
    Salicylic Acid 2% Solution
    Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
    and going to buy
    Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG
    Matrixyl 10% + HA
    Why im confused is that I have two serums from premier and one is very thick and oily but clear in its colour, while another one that is tighting your skin is milky.
    Is this a good combo or am I overdoing it? age 26, combo skin with some clogged poors in T zone and dry cheeks. Typical, not hydrated and therefore produces more oil. All above has helped a lot over just a few weeks.
    Thank you for answer

    Hi Nadine, I've been using The Ordinary products and really enjoy them. I have quite a few of them as I'm aware you need to layer with The Ordinary. I just struggle to know what one to use when and with what. I have HA, Vitamin C in silicone, Retinoid 2%, Lactic Acid. I will purchase Matrixly now after watching this video, however can you pls advise what others you suggest I get, and how and when to use? Oh, I'm 46 with quite good normal to sometimes de-hydrated skin. Xx

    • @luxy1193
      @luxy1193 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sharon Galloway ..I tried to use the ordinary products but dislikes all of them but anyways. The vit c you should use in mornings as it boosts your spf (I'd go for a watery serum like vit c rather than a silicone based one personally) after this the matrixyl can go on then your HA followed by moisturiser and spf.
      The retinol and lactic or any other treatments or acids should be use at nights only but on separate nights, don't over do it your skin won't thank you for it...introduce them slowly.
      The HA you should use before your moisturise goes on, you can use this day and night you can even mix a few drop in with your moisturiser. Use a very gently cleanser and toner. Hope this helps
