    Hi Sheep! I hiked this trail over the last weekend, but I started at Tejas Park and hiked clockwise. I camped at Cedar Break where you started and then finished back at Tejas. The weather was beautiful, but the trail had a lot of dead fall from the recent ice storm.

      Oh yes, I have another video of this trail from 2 weekends ago as well. LOTS of fallen trees!! It's on my last video. You finished in 1.5 days?

      @@hikersheep Yes, finished in 1.5 days! How do you like your new La Sportiva Wildcat shoes? I'm thinking about trying something different from my Altra Lone Peak 5.

      @@luckydog4467 i dont think I want to go back with all the fallen trees there. Love Tejas Park campsite. I like the La Sportiva Wildcat mens shoes. They are heavier but it hugs the heels really good and i like the heel lift instead of zero drop. But I still like Altra Lone Peak as well...but I always wear then with inserts to lift the heel a little.

    Hi Hiker Sheep. My Wife and I recently subscribe to your channel here. We watched your Ouachita Trail series. I am contemplating hiking the OT in Oklahoma. Just a couple quick questions. Wow, it appeared you hiked miles and miles in wet feet/shoes and socks. I don't think I could continue a hike for multiple miles with wet feet. How do you do it? I know there are multiple Kaimichi River crossing on this trail. Were your shoes Water Proof? Why not change into your Croc shoes to make the crossings and then change back into dry socks and shoes?

      Thank you for watching and subscribing! :) About hiking in wet feet, I think my feet soles have thickened and adjusted to being wet all day and walking all day since I hike in wet feet often the past 1.5 years. There are so many Kiamichi River crossings on the OT...maybe 8 or 9 times? I had no patience to take my shoes on and off that many times. Plus, I got rained on 9 out of the 12 days I was out on the OT. So my feet got wet anyway. I never got any blisters and as a thru-hiker, I have gotten used to "embrace the suck"....they call it. I am so used to getting rained on, hiking in 50 mph wind, cold etc. My shoes are trail runners and they are not waterproof. I am afraid if I wear waterproof shoes, there will be no ventilation, heavier and when they get wet, it will take days to get dry.
      But if you only do a short section, you can change to crocs at every crossing maybe? Or if the crossings are at the end of the day, maybe don't worry about taking off your shoes since you would arrive at camp soon and no need to hike in wet shoes.

    I was going to be on one of those georgetown hiking groups but I became sick. I would love to have met you over there. Maybe next time! Keep the videos coming! I really enjoy the videos!

    p.s. - At last; waterproof shoes!

    • @hikersheep
      @hikersheep  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hehe....theyre not waterproof I don't think. I am not sure how I feel about wearing waterproof shoes with no ventilation. My feet have toughened and hardened and never get any blisters even after they got wet for 2 weeks.
