As soon as i opened the video my heart melted you seem so nice and i was stressing out so much about my English exam so i was so relieved to finally find a video that was actually helpful im really hoping to do well in my exams but thank you so much for your help you are making a big impact!
so i know you have intro and conclusion, but the 3 paras in the middle, I know they are meant to be a theme, but am still unsure how you find a common theme. - I have my mocks tmr
The exam question should give you a steer on theme. So for example, if the theme was relationships in belle dame and duchess, one paragraph might be on the way that women are treated as possessions in relationships, one might be on how women can be seen as threatening or dangerous and one might be on the after effect of relationships - ie. The knight is suffering whereas the duke is lining up his next wife! Remember you can look at differences as well as similarities. I hope that helps! Good luck tomorrow! 🤞
@beniscfactsyou can do differences too so a theme might be presented in different ways across two poems. For example, love in sonnet 116 is portrayed as everlasting whereas in belle dame, love is a temporary condition. Same theme, but different portrayals.
@@missadamsteaches... okay thanks. last thing if that is okay. so after the intro, you do a paragraph of form and strucutre, with no quotes. so is it basically just explaing the type of the poem and how it is written, and then in the 2/3 point paras you just use language techniques with stuff like emjabamnet and caesura
Hi there. Thanks so much for the feedback! Yes absolutely. I tell my students to write the titles in full in the intro and then shorten for the rest of the essay.
It depends how much time you have. If you’re worried you haven’t showed off enough comparative analysis, I would keep going and ignore the conclusion. If you’ve covered all your points, then yes that would be great. But you’re more likely to get more marks for further analysis than a conclusion.

@beniscfactsyep. Just make sure you explain the impact of the form in that first paragraph too.
thank you so much, this has helped me loads!

hi @@missadamsteaches... in the comparative essays are you supposed just compare them or can you show some similarities too? thank you so much again!

I'm a teacher. Love the content. Just wondering if you advise abbreviated poem titles to save time?
Hi there. Thanks so much for the feedback! Yes absolutely. I tell my students to write the titles in full in the intro and then shorten for the rest of the essay.
@@missadamsteaches... how would you recommend going about that?
@@sapphire4915 Instead of saying "La belle Dame sans Merci" just say "La Belle..."
Do you need a conclusion for this essay?
