Crazy the table on the lower side of the chimney that you caulk to your flashing is going to trap water someone will definitely be repairing this in the future
Would you use quarter-size dabs of adhesive instead of a continuous bead or would you leave the flashing on top of the shingles completely to allow water that flows down the chimney wall onto the flashing to drain onto the shingles unimpeded? It seems that putting shingles on top of that bottom flashing would allow for a horizontal movement of water underneath the shingle to go onto the deck at both ends.
the bottom of the front metal, goes over top of the shingle enderneath it, so it technically doesnt matter... putting the next shingle over the flashing is just consmetic to hid the metal... lots of people will cut that shingle flush with the sides of the chimney, and leave the metal exposed...
I did my roof the way you showed and the rain ran down the side of the chimney and underneath the shingles. You have to put something on the chimney that goes over the ones you showed. Cost $6000 to repair. Please give contact information. My lawyer has to talk with your lawyer.
@ tell you what I will post a video soon. Good luck. I’m teaching men, not kids remember so I’m not making it dummy proof. It took me years to learn these tricks
All I do is flashing and custom sheet metal items dormers. standing seam roofs. Etc. It's ALL WRONG sorry man I love my job and your lesson was a slap in the face
That first piece is an apron flashing 😂 that’s not counter at all… you didn’t cut a riglet in the brick… you have to cut the brick a 1/2 inch or more then install a counter in that groove that comes down over the piece you installed… you can’t caulk the top of that piece it will leak in 5 years…
You forgot your counter flashing and the counter flashing needs a 1/2 inch bend that a your brick needs a joint grinded for the bend to go into then sealed with polyurethane sealant
in 1965, yes, but since the invention of 30 year caulks and counter flash metal, you dont need to spend that much time and labor grinding mortar out of someones $30,000 chimney....
I stared doing all my chimneys this way. Saves so much time and haven’t gotten a single call back since I turned my ringer off
🤣

considering that the whole thing grts counter flashed, that is.
Nice video - what is the make of the caulking ??
That's not how I would do it
This is not right at all does no one teach this new generation anything 😂
Super helpful video, thanks

he said "how to flash a chimney", not how to counter flash a chimney....
Exactly you are right@@bdc211
Haha good luck bro
Wuao😅 people. If you’ll don’t know how to do the job. Please don’t record it.
What no counter?
There's 100 things wrong with this. Please take this video down your company will get sued
I can’t see any video from you doing that. Where do you upload your videos showing your work ???
@ you have to pay for that buddy
@ tell you what I will post a video soon. Good luck. I’m teaching men, not kids remember so I’m not making it dummy proof. It took me years to learn these tricks
Architectural sheet metal 101
Look him up. If it like that it ain’t metal work
Is it done like others might do? No but this will work. If youre such a good roofer why are you watching this lol
All I do is flashing and custom sheet metal items dormers. standing seam roofs. Etc. It's ALL WRONG sorry man I love my job and your lesson was a slap in the face
Man I said the exact same thing. I do the same thing and this is definitely how you flash a chimney
Why would you use two different colors of flashing.
This is perfect. I don’t want to do it the right way anyway. So all the haters in the comments can stuff it.

When you learn to do it better, you'll stop cutting into the more permanent structure
This video is not the best way to flash a chimney, but neither is the way you were taught
He did u dnt c the brick cut

Who guarantees that at 2:32 no water will pass from below!
Por qué ke pones silicon debajo
Wow.... That is not how you properly flash a chimney
What fail job people don’t do this please
Everyone on his ass 😂😂😂😂😂
I was expecting a builder bob not a handy manny the things people film themselves doing
Thats not good dude. You have to overlap 1.5 to 2 inches.
From a REAL roofers perspective.keep.doing it that way, wel will repair it for a living. What a joke!!!!!!!!!!!
Today must be your first day ! That is 💯 wrong.
That's not how you do chimney flashing. Should be leaded in step fashion with an apron top and bottom laid in to the brickwork pointing
in 1965, yes, but since the invention of 30 year caulks and counter flash metal, you dont need to spend that much time and labor grinding mortar out of someones $30,000 chimney....
on top of not getting lead in your runoff water everytiime in rains... on every house across the planet..
Good job
This isa fail
PLEASE!!!!!!! Do not flash any chimney this way. This is wrong on so many levels.
😂😢😅
This is terrible. So many problems with the flashing, let alone the adhesive he used. If you are new and trying to learn, this is what not to do.
Explain it
Everyone says it's wrong but nobody explains what's actually wrong and the proper procedure
pobre compa no sabe Nilo k está aciendo
Aa

Are you kidding, 42 yrs in made all my chimney flashings outl of 24ga. and rivits and solder, this cheap bullshit!
Por favor no lo hagan así eso es una porquería, NO GOOD 👎👎👎👎👎👎
