    Fender's 70th Anniversary Broadcaster, released in 2020, is a fitting tribute to a classic that has stood the test of time and will probably carry on for another 70 years at least. It stays largely true to the original with the exception of the truss rod (essential), slightly larger frets than would have been fitted in 1950, and the more modern wiring (retro 'kit' supplied in case). Many will purchase these for their collectibility and/or investment value; I waited patiently and bought this one to play. And play it I will because it's fantastic.
    I must apologise, also: The amp model used was actually the '65 Twin, not the Deluxe Reverb as I said in the video. (I thought it had a little too much headroom! Haha). Also, as correctly pointed out in a comment below, it was the early Esquire that went without the truss rod. Oh, the shame..!
    This video was not sponsored or commissioned. I gladly paid for the guitar and produced the video as, hopefully, a service to other players.
    Happy Christmas everyone. Thank you for your support and friendship during 2020. I hope 2021 is a better year for you and for the world.

    Recently lucky enough to get my piece of 70th Broadcaster heaven second hand and practically mint. Geez they are sweet. Playing it through a Fender Mustang GTX 100. They're an amazingly versatile and affordable amp. I feel like I've died and gone to heaven.

    Great video. I love my 70RI Broadcaster. You mentioned that the first models were Nocasters and they didn't have truss rods. Actually, the Nocasters came after the Broadcasters as a result of Leo Fender receiving a "cease and desist" letter from Gretsch because they had a drum kit called "Broadkaster". Leo complied and just cut the Broadcaster part of the decal and that became the Nocaster. It was also the Esquire than had no truss rod.

    That guitar rings and sings. Brilliant. EDIT; one year later: I got lucky this week and bought one of these in mint, unplayed condition with all the goodies for great price. Very happy with it. In the two books I have on vintage Fenders, all the real broadcaster seem to be more of the butterscotch color. The early Esquires, which came out before the Broadcasters are mostly this lighter color. Regardless of cosmetics, this is a wonderful guitar.

    I love this guitar I have it for a year, had not enough time for it, despite the lockdown etc. because my father became ill (Alzheimers) so I have to take care for him
    but last few weeks more and more I am getting a grip on it and I am loving this one. Think I will never part from this one...its so clear sounding and don't think its
    just for country.....man this guitar can play really heavy too. On a marshall amp and litle overdrive is already get you going.
    Let allone if you have more effects or better amps...man I am so glad with this guitar.

    Man, I love this. I could eat that guitar for breakfast!
    Would you mind if I'm going prick-mode for a second? When you said the earlier nocasters didn't have a truss rod...., not true, unless you meant the earliest 1 and 2 PU Esquires. It can't be true, because nocasters were in fact broadcasters with a clipped off decal and thus made later.
    Doesn't matter. You perfectly demonstrated a guitar that is so perfect that even after 70 years they still make 'em. I love your playing! ❤️

    I just ordered mine on reverb. Can’t wait t get it. I like the way you show off this guitar. A lot of the ones I’ve seen are custom shops that are worn and got the blend already which these you have to do yourself. They really should have gave the whole control plate set up with the blend for the price. What would it cost them. For the blend do you just put in the piece they give you ?

      @lepettitchateau8047 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I think there’s a lot to be said here with your post, A true “tele fan“ will realize quickly this IS a Broadcaster! Does that mean it’s better or less than the models after it(?) not necessarily. I’m more of an acoustic player but I just bought this because I believe the pickup system bests a tele and I love the difference in tone... also a huge tele history buff so this Anniversary piece is a no brainer. Rave on✅

      I don't think that's true at all. It's a little girthier than the 60s necks but not nearly has full-on as an old Jeff Beck neck, and probably the most comfortable Tele neck I've ever played. If I could afford to buy them as after-market replacements for all of my other Teles, I would.
