Hey dude, I have Lenovo Ideapad 110 15-IBR and I was thinking of upgrading HDD to SSD(probably 240GB SSD). Now I know that it will improve boot speeds and speed of opening programms, but, will it improve internet browsing by any chance? I already Windows 8.1 installed which works and starts much faster than Windows 10 so I think that I dont necessarily need SSD for improving general speed of my laptop. But, if it improves browsing Im 100% gonna buy it.
i don’t think it will increase internet speed necessarily if that’s what you are asking. and if you are asking if it will improve internet browsing i think it will sort of but you need to upgrade your ram for that
Hi there, Upgrading to a SSD is a must and not an option cause after a long time of using windows, files will be scrambled all over the plate of the regular HDD and it gets your windows slower with time, the SSD will make your startup/boot up time, shutdown, programs installation, and definitely the time a browser starts way faster. all of that in addition to a non-moving parts makes it way safer than a regular HDD that can fail or gets bad sectors. also SSDs is much more energy efficient and always ready to use and doesn't sleep to save energy. SSDs are a must, not an option. and if everyone knew about them and got them, there will be a SSDs global shortage!
Well, i checked it again on the video as it was an upgrade i made for a friend, and that empty slot above is for the Optical Drive and not an M.2 Slot and for the regular SATA 2.5" SSD, it can support as much as you through at it up to 2TB or even 4TB EVO 850 if you could afford one :D !
Jay, you are welcome. And this laptop does support any 2.5" SATA3 SSD whether if it's a SAMSUNG, Kingston, SanDisk, Crucial, WD, Lexar, AData etc .. any 2.5" SATA3 SSD will get the job done and make any machine 5 to 10X faster.
While there are some software that allows you to clone your OS to the new drive, but i don't think it's that much reliable, so you need to reinstall your OS .. meanwhile if you have an original windows on your old drive, you can unregister it and use the same license on the new installation.
Hey naufal, It was an Ideapad 110 with a Celeron N3060 CPU and 4GB of RAM. Can't really remember any other part no. or an additional letters other than Ideapad 110. I hope that may help.
This is a budget laptop for everyday basic use and not intended for gaming. After the upgrade it will be just much faster at boot time, shutdown, programs and apps installations and startups.
Upgrading to an SSD will always boost your system speed, and sure you can install windows 10 on it. I had windows 10 installed on many similar notebooks with intel celeron cpus and it's running smooth and perfectly fine.
Hello Riyaz, I think that RAM is either soldiered to the MB or not upgradable, and you can replace the HDD with an SSD for sure and you can put the HDD in a DVD Caddy and install it in stead of the optical drive.
The one i had came with a 2.5" SATA3 HDD which can be replaced with a 2.5" SATA3 SSD, i guess all Ideapads 110 series can have any 2.5" SATA3 SSD up to 2TB.
Hi there, good question! and these entry level notebooks' CPUs are becoming more and more efficient with much less heat emission that they are now able to passively cool them with just a metal plate and no fans are required anymore.
Hey Abhishek, Unfortunately, there is no PCIe slot in the model that i upgraded on the video, it does have a one main 2.5" SATA3 interface that you can use for a 2.5" SATA3 SSD. meanwhile, you can install the SSD in stead of the main HDD and install the HDD in a DVD Caddy in stead of the Optical drive in case you are not using your DVD for anything at all. The newer models of the same laptop like Ideapad S145 does have a PCIe slot and it does support NVMe SSDs. I uploaded a video upgrading one or 2 of these before as well.
Hey Michael, Guess what? There was no pre-installed windows on the 1st place, i bought this one cheaper with no windows installed, meanwhile, if yours had windows, you can unregister your copy of windows there & use the same key on the new drive, or use a clone tool to copy an image of the old drive to the new SSD (which i don't really do) all and all, check a youtube video for how to unregister the key of a copy of windows to use it on a different PC.
These particular laptops with Celeron CPU are technically unusable if used with a regular HDD, so upgrading them with an SSD makes everything you are doing on them relatively super fast, boot time is a 10 seconds at max. and browsing and overall performance is great. The SSD makes the laptop perfectly useable for what it's meant to be used for.
Such a low-end model comes with a 4GB of RAM which are probably on-board. and it wouldn't make that much of an impact in overall performance since it's an entry level low power CPU for basic tasks and not heavy multi-tasking.
You are welcome Brandon D, And i recommend the cheapest SSD you can get i.e: Kingston, Crucial, Lexar, A-Data, Samsung Evo or Sandisk etc.. since it's not a high-end gaming laptop, so any 2.5" SSD will rock it's performance.

There is no way that you can lose your data while replacing your HDD with an SSD, since the data still exists on the older drive and you can connect it via a SATA to USB cable and get your data from it to the new SSD. and sure there is a DVD caddy that you can install an additional drive in it. install the SSD with the Operating system on the main SATA and copy your data from the older drive and format it and make it one drive for multi-media and big files.
I have another Lenovo with an Intel N4000 CPU, and i successfully replaced it's HDD with an SSD, check my latest video for it, It's a perfect machine with passive cooling, no fans and never heats up, check my video for it: Lenovo ideapad 330 Unboxing & SSD Installation
I want to do this but I have one question, would this make me lose things I have like games, pictures, etc.? I’m saying this because I have had this laptop for 2 years.
You can backup all your files before HDD replacement, or even do that after SSD installation by connecting your old HDD with a USB rack and copy your data to the new SSD.
What storage capacity ssd did you upgrade to. I read somewhere that the maximum capacity is 128gb, just wanted to check if I could get more than that as 128 is a bit small.
My ideapad 110 is extremely slow, I'm not familiar at all with tech, if I open up my laptop what shouldn't I touch and what happens after I install an SSD?
All you need to do is just replacing your stock HDD with a brand new SSD (your desired capacity) and install windows & that's it, it's gonna be significantly fast, at least 5X faster!
@@Stevepoku I'm definitely sure that if you searched for the easiest way to install windows 10 for example on youtube, you will find a dozen of them and you can pick up the easiest way or you can let a friend or an IT shop that you trust do that for you. but if you follow a youtube tutorial, you 'd end up doing it yourself :) anyway, good luck buddy.
Thanks for this video bro Bro what if i replace hdd with ssd and replace cd/dvd slot with hdd is it work ? Is their any chance of data loss by removing hdd ?

Kevin Ferreira, I think it would be better for you to replace the HDD with a 240 or higher capacity SSD or you can get a special HDD and SSD in one drive from WD a 1TB HDD & 128GB SSD within the same 2.5" drive, that will totally solve your problem, you install windows on the 128 SSD and save your multimedia and games on the 1TB HDD.

@@Adam-ul3pn I dunno why but i just saw that last comment now :D ! and of course feel free to ask anything :) , about the processor, nope, most laptop's processors are not upgradable.
How much maximum SSD cm and zoll ???
Thanks for the video, I missed those 3 screws under the cd drive.
Is that an M.2 connector for a 2nd drive?
Also, I guess there's no way to upgrade RAM right?
Well, the connector that looks like M.2 is actually for the DVD & if you don't need the DVD, you can get one of these racks that allows you to install an additional SSD or so .. and yea, RAM is not upgradable.
@@ModiAdams how to Fix the ssd into dvd plug? A caddy disk needed?
Thanks for the video. Question: was the original Hard Drive a HHD?
You are welcome, and since this notebook is a budget one from lenovo, so surely it came with a 500GB HDD which i later on installed in a USB Rack to use it for multimedia and backups. All and all, SSD for such a machine is a must to get over any slow performance, it will make it not feel like a cheap machine.
@@ModiAdams Thank you chief for the fast reply. Really appreciate it. :)
SSDs are a must, not an option. and if everyone knew about them and got them, there will be a SSDs global shortage!
someone can tell me where can i buy this ssd?🥺 my computer doesn't start and the technical said that i have to change the hard disk..
You can buy any 2.5" SSD from any local computer store, a local online store or even Amazon.
@@ModiAdams thank u so much!
IDEAPAD 110-15ISK , will support ssd in m.2 slot upto what gb and in sata slot upto what gb???
Well, i checked it again on the video as it was an upgrade i made for a friend, and that empty slot above is for the Optical Drive and not an M.2 Slot and for the regular SATA 2.5" SSD, it can support as much as you through at it up to 2TB or even 4TB EVO 850 if you could afford one :D !
can I install 256 GB SSD along with the previous 1 TB HDD or I have to replace hdd by new ssd?
You can install a 256SSD as the main drive for the windows installation and so on, and put the 1TB drive in a DVD Caddy in stead of the optical drive.
Hi, are you bought HDD cardy for this upgrade?
I didn't get a caddy, i replaced the HDD with the SSD.

At this point would you need to reinstall the BIOS and Lenovo software or is that on a separate drive in the laptop?
You will only need to reinstall your windows but it doesn't affect your laptop's BIOS.
@@ModiAdams awesome, thank you

While there are some software that allows you to clone your OS to the new drive, but i don't think it's that much reliable, so you need to reinstall your OS .. meanwhile if you have an original windows on your old drive, you can unregister it and use the same license on the new installation.

Can we install Windows 10 after installing Sata SSD in Lenovoipad 110 in intel cel processor.? Wil it give good performance.?
Upgrading to an SSD will always boost your system speed, and sure you can install windows 10 on it. I had windows 10 installed on many similar notebooks with intel celeron cpus and it's running smooth and perfectly fine.
hello my device is lenovo ideapad 110 14ibr. Can I add a ssd in this including the existing hdd? and is there any slot for upgrade ram?

boa tarde neste vídeo não consigo ver o cooler desse notebook ! não vem com cooler ?
Hi there, good question! and these entry level notebooks' CPUs are becoming more and more efficient with much less heat emission that they are now able to passively cool them with just a metal plate and no fans are required anymore.
Tell me mate About this motherboard i am very confuzed my friend wants to add ram is it dooable lenovo ideapad 110-15acl?
I'm not sure if you can upgrade the RAM and i think it's probably soldiered to the motherboard.
Hey,
Thanks for useful information.
I have same laptop. Is there any way that i can install WD BLUE SN550 NVMe SSD ??
Quick question. Do I need to purchase windows again?
Hey Michael, Guess what? There was no pre-installed windows on the 1st place, i bought this one cheaper with no windows installed, meanwhile, if yours had windows, you can unregister your copy of windows there & use the same key on the new drive, or use a clone tool to copy an image of the old drive to the new SSD (which i don't really do) all and all, check a youtube video for how to unregister the key of a copy of windows to use it on a different PC.
How fast is ur laptop after upgrade and is boot time fast
These particular laptops with Celeron CPU are technically unusable if used with a regular HDD, so upgrading them with an SSD makes everything you are doing on them relatively super fast, boot time is a 10 seconds at max. and browsing and overall performance is great. The SSD makes the laptop perfectly useable for what it's meant to be used for.
no ram slot available for it?
Such a low-end model comes with a 4GB of RAM which are probably on-board. and it wouldn't make that much of an impact in overall performance since it's an entry level low power CPU for basic tasks and not heavy multi-tasking.
Is hdd/ssd size of ideapad 110 15acl also 2.5”?
Yes, it's the standard 2.5" HDD/SSD size
@@ModiAdams thank you sir
Thank you so much this will help me out so much, what SSD would you recommend in 2019?
You are welcome Brandon D, And i recommend the cheapest SSD you can get i.e: Kingston, Crucial, Lexar, A-Data, Samsung Evo or Sandisk etc.. since it's not a high-end gaming laptop, so any 2.5" SSD will rock it's performance.
Modi Adams will it be good to play black ops 3 on?
Pal, this laptop is not meant for gaming at all! It's a basic everyday notebook for light tasks, web browsing, media consumption, word, excel, power point etc .. yet i can assure you that it will run Red Alert & Midtown smoothly without any frames drop or thermal throttling lol

@@ModiAdams hello sir I’m sorry to text so late I love the content I just have a question similar to this. In 2021 what SSD would you recommend ? Thank you very much
is an m.2 ssd compatible with the laptop?
No, this model is a bit old and does support only 2.5" SATA3 SSDs. The newer Celeron N4000+ Models like the Ideapad S145 does support both 2.5" SATA3 and PCIe NVMe SSDs.
Does it work using all type of 2,5" ssd?
Yes, any 2.5" SSD will work perfectly fine.
How can I upgrade RAM to this laptop?
Unfortunately, the RAM is not upgradable, but it's not a high-end laptop anyway, you wouldn't need more ram in it, just make sure you upgrade it to an SSD with your preferred brand and capacity.

Such an old model doesn't have m.2 slot, but it does exist in the higher model Ideapad S145

Help Please :-) I dont get removed the DVD Drive. The screws on the backplate are removed, but it sits stiff, moves not a tenth of a milimeter. Any suggestion how I get this done? Thanks
Hey flyingernst, Make sure that you completely removed every single screw from the back of the laptop, then the drive will slide out easily, and even after you remove it, there will be still 3 flat screws there after you remove the drive, at 1:08 .. all and all, just make sure you removed all the screws and it will come out. Well, i got this machine without any pre-installed OS, so i would have needed to install windows anyway ..

Although i see on most videos people usually unplugging their batteries, which i do if it's a removable one, but if it's a built-in one like most of now days laptops, i just skip that and replace the drive without unplugging it, as long as it's properly shutdown, it's gonna be just fine. and no need for any other drives, just replace the HDD with the SSD, install windows and that's it.
Where did you get this ssd from
I got it from Amazon long while ago. any 120GB SSD will get the job done and those are now as cheap as the 64GB one in the past, whether it's WD Green, Kingston, Sandisk, Crucial etc .. You can get one from Amazon or any local tech store.
@@ModiAdams alright would you be able to link it so I know exact which one to get cause there are all sorts of different ssd
Nice work,
Hey can I replace ssd with dvd slot . Without any loss of data

You can backup all your files before HDD replacement, or even do that after SSD installation by connecting your old HDD with a USB rack and copy your data to the new SSD.
