My iPhone 14 is still very fast. I don’t see enough compelling reason I should get the iPhone 15. When the excitement of “new” wears off, you’ll see it’s just like any other iPhone out there 😅
So, far this is definitely the highest quality review of these I've watched, love it. Not too cringe, not too overdone, not to effortless. As for the devices, they're definitely better but still don't meet my minimum requirements in some respects, Ram, Display (Base Model), and zoom. As a 3-year iPhone 11 user who's not in any financial situation to be spending anything on phones of all things, if or when I do upgrade, I want it to be as futureproof as I need it to be within my usual ownership range, 3-5 years. What I'm mainly concerned about is how the software effects the experience of the device, both currently and in the future because my iPhone 11 hasn't held up well with these horrendously poorly developed IOS updates, iOS 16/17 being the worst of them I've used. Apple has kind of been losing me here as I feel like there's definitely more compelling competition now that they've been screwing things up from being at the top for so long.
yeah bro , if someone buy a new iphone today they better not update till 2 years, new phone with iOS 17 pretty much has everything. my 13 pro was so good on iOS 15 for a year. only 5 % battery health loss . the i updated to iOS 16 and one year on it battery health is down to 86% and my phone heats a lot. and if i am on face time for 1 hour , i have to charge my phone again. Let's see how iOS 17 works. I kinda wanna replace battery rn.
Thank you! I think ios16 was just a bit buggy regardless of phone, definitely had crashes and slow downs on my 14 pro max. So far ios17 and the 15 Pro has been smooth sailing

We need a video comparing 15 pro and 15pro max for 3x and 5x modes only. I'm still deciding if the 5x 120mm is worth it over my initial choice of 15pro. Also compare screen size and battery consumption for both. Because these are the only differences between the two phones.
The quality of video of iPhone 15 pro max is just incredible and mind blowing!!! Honestly i couldn’t tell the difference of video quality between this video and your other videos shot from professional dedicated cameras as an audience!!!
Wow, thanks for the detailed and straightforward review. I think it's time to upgrade my phone from the iPhone 11 to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Considering your review, it seems like a great phone with many new features compared to my iPhone 11.
@@fromagetristea phone isn’t about apps only bud. He’s obviously gonna enjoy the 4 year camera upgrades that he doesn’t have on the 11 ( 48MP, 4K cinematic, 4K pro res, 24MP standard, etc,) not to mention the difference in performance between the A17 pro and the A13. His phone doesn’t have a 120Hz HDR display, I could go on and on.
Hmmm I was thinking about upgrading to the 15 from my 11 pro max but I came to a decision that didn’t need to since I’ll be using it for the same apps and just casual use. But I guess if you take photography with your phone really seriously then it’s worth the upgrade. My 11 is built like a tank! lol
i use 13 pro which i bought back in 2021, used the hell out of it. its at 86% after 2 years. So it means heat is major issue because more powerful processors are producing more heat and causing more heat damage with fast charging. Apple never say anything about heat management even though we all know how hot they get while using outdoors. You can almost never use full brightness features cuz it shows heat warning after 5 minutes. But anyway just replace the battery who cares.
Going from 14 Pro Max to 15 Pro Max. The USB-C switch is enough to change. I’ve been Android since the G1. Switched to iPhone last year. My entire house is USB-C on every charger except 1. Add in all the other little upgrades and it was an easy decision for me. Especially when 14 Pro Max are selling for $850-900 around me
Hey Tom, on battery health, I noticed that my 13 Pro Max degraded quite fast and theorised that this was down to the MagSafe charger, so with the 14 Pro Max, I stuck with wired charging only, with optimised battery charging. With 2 days and a bit to go till the switch to the 15 Pro Max, I’m at 95% battery health. Although the iOS 17 betas chewed through battery health from 99% in June to 95% now.
It's just luck. You got lucky. Probably had a good bit more than the specified capacity in the 14 and almost exactly the s. capacity in the 13 is my guess. Wireless does play a role, but usually other factors like that outweigh it.
@@Alex-tu5vuluck?😂😂😂my 13 pro max was on 100% when i sold it after a year And the battery still lasted almost 2 days I used magsafe as well The problem is not the magsafe The problem is that unguys charge ur phone till 100% and let it go under 20% I always charged my phones in the same way Basicly random charges through the day never under 20% or over 80% And all my phone had 100% after a year or a year and a half Except with the 14 pro This phone doesnt worth a penny . . . Its on 90% now and i have around 3 hours battery life fro. 100% to 0% With this phone i cant do the same thing like i did with the others cause i would get like 1,5~2 hours So if the 15 pro or pro max has the same or worse battery life then apple should bin them now
Simply put, upgrading from iPhone 13 Pro Max to the 15 Pro max and will be happy to get the CASETiFY cases for the new phone. I always buy the accessories and the cases before getting the phone and safely install it all together. I hate having a new phone unprotected from my line of work
It seems to make more sense to purchase the Pro Max if you have the money for it. Not only do you get more battery, but you also have 2x "optical" zoom. So, moving from 2x to 5x optical zoom is IMO more useful than going from 2x to 3x optical zoom.
I just got my iPhone 14 Pro Max last Month and honestly I got it because I had a few concerts to attend to. Right now as I’m learning about the 15 pro max, I do want to upgrade but I don’t see a huge difference between the 14 pro max. It’s only the usb c, 5x zoom, new a17 pro chip, and 19 grams lighter >< If the battery life was better, I probably would have upgraded. But let’s see bc I’m still waiting to see how it feels in person. And I want to directly buy it from apple and not an authorized reseller so I’m planning to go to Hong Kong :)
The biggest issue with the 15 Pro Max is the huge distance in focal length between the 13mm, 24mm and 120mm focal length equivalents lenses. That’s a pretty terrible range between the 24mm and 120mm lenses, as everything in between is just digital cropping. Not great for photo or video. Would have been better to have a 50mm lens at 48MP and use digital zooming for the rest.
Neither phone honestly seems to completely fall apart when directly comparing their 3x/5x modes, which surprises me. I fully expected the Pro Max to be hot garbage at 3-4.9x, and similarly the Pro to be awful at 5x. Really seems like a matter of preference on which focal range you prioritize, and if you will ever use the extra digital zoom the Pro Max gets, rather than strictly needing to get one or the other if you ever want to get a usable photo out of it's zoom gap.
The iPhone 15 Pro having WORSE battery life than the 14 Pro’s astonish me. But I guess the better the chip, the more power it’ll use. This breaks my thought process of the odd numbered iPhones having better battery and the even numbered iPhones having better hardware…
The phone is brand new. Still needs some time to adapt to every day usage. Besides, right now it’s expected to be on the “honeymoon stage”, where you’ll be using the phone a lot more testing its limites since it’s a brand new toy. Give it a week or two and I guarantee, the battery life will surpass the iPhone 14 pro max, especially with all the updates coming after 😊 👍
@@robertmzs I doubt it'll actually get better battery life, but I definitely agree that modern flagship phones are at a point where an hour shaved off their daily battery life here or there doesn't affect you once you get out of that honeymoon phase as you put it. I'm on a 13 which has a significantly shorter battery life than the 14 Pro, and I've only ran into problems once or twice over a year and a half. Until we start seeing battery life that can comfortably last longer than 24 hours, it really has become irrelevant unless your battery is degraded to hell and back.
@@sprouting_lady I saw the Dave2D video and the 15PM gets better battery than 14PM and 13PM. Battery is very subjective, so if like me, you do not game, then the 15PM will get the same or better than the 14PM.
@@andyH_EnglandMy 13PM began life with astonishing battery life. Easily a day and a half. Sometimes two days. Now it’s at 20% by midnight having been charged overnight. Why? I used to use MagSafe charging. Cooked the battery I think. Now I use wireless charging very rarely.

I'm upgrading my 12 Pro to a 15 Pro Max. I finally decided that after 3 years it was a worthwhile upgrade over my current phone. The USB C got me over the line. I'm interested to see that the daily use iPhone 14 Pro was down to 88% and my iPhone 12 is down to 84% but with 2 more years of use. I'm also pretty abusive with my battery, draining it to nothing almost daily and sometimes a couple times over e.g. get it back up to 20% then draining it again.
@@Cotee504 I have one phone an iPhone 12 Pro. In my original comment I was comparing my 12 Pro with the 14 Pro shown in the video. Because I found it interesting that my 3 year old 12 Pro only has 4% less battery health than the 12 month old 14 Pro. Which raises concerns for me about the battery longevity of current iPhones. I hope that makes it clearer.

The recording is good, shows how far smartphones have come tbh. Though I will say I can definitely tell it's an iPhone or a mobile device for that matter since some of the background blur, movement and over sharpening gives it away.
I'm moderately tempted to upgrade my 13 pro for the 28, 35 and 50mm "lenses" and automatic portrait mode. I'm torn on the 5x. The extra zoom will come in handy at times, but now anything shorter telephoto is going to look like garbage because it will be a 3-4x digital crop. I bet 120mm from the 77mm lens looks better than 77mm from the 24mm lens. Would be cool if they did the larger 48MP main sensor for the 3x telephoto. Then they could have 77mm but it does the same "extra lens" tricks to give 90, 120 and 150mm equivalent.
PetaPixel did test this "digital crop" on their channel and to be honest it is hard to tell the difference if you use it on social media most of the time anyways.. IF not then real camera from Canon or Sony would be better pick anyways..
don't just buy for a mediocre zoom, you might as well as buy a real camera, i used to shoot with iphone lens the video n pic quality is so fake and over saturated and over sharpen. I've switched to fujifilm xs20 camera and now I can't stand the iphone video looks.
Returned my iphone 15 pro and first time having a pro max! So far loving the battery and the screen size. Bit heavier but hopefully will get used to it.
My 13 pro max is at 89% after 2 years but also I’ve heard different about 14 some had bad battery consumption while others had good so it’s also down to use/habits
@@Eminem_9696 bruh stop misinforming people by "without fan it's impossible". Even normal android phones with snapdragon 8gen2 still get 80%+ stability and gaming phones without fans get above 95% , in what world are u living on? apple world?
@@Silent.killer_007 , It's impossible , because of drastic battery drain and overheating. At peak performance newest flagship chips are "eating" 8-12W of power. It's enormous for 17-19-watt-hour batteries. No fan-> overheating-> throttling or battery degradation.
@Eminem_9696 My tiny Zenfone 9 can get 78% stability in the same tests. It's not impossible, they just need to add a vapor chamber and thermal paste like other manufacturers have been doing for years
Okay, can we just appreciate that the video looks so good! Thank you for shooting this entire thing on just the iPhone. I was scared to use my 14 Pro for my own videos. But after seeing this I will use it way more.
I have a 13 pro max I wanted to upgrade to the 15 pro max but the 5x instead of the 3x is a big concern for me. I love the 3x lens and I just wish they didn’t change it! 15 pro is too small for me
Same here. Find the regular pros to be too small and the pro max almost to big. That's why I went with a pixel 7. The is is right smack in the middle of those 2 phones.
The most informative IPhone 15 lineup review , so far 👍 Only 1 advise , 9:07 do not test with 100% battery (recommend 99% at least) , and the results will be more accurate.
Also the 15 pro max had a SIM card in while the 14 pro max did not, I have noticed that when (even on WiFi) while connected to any cellular the iPhone battery drains quicker than just on WiFi with no cellular connection. So the 3 or so percent difference might’ve been because of that.
Apple has 5-8% larger batteries than stated so if you stop at 99% you miss that extra free mAh and that is unfair. That is why it takes longer to fall from 100% as it uses the extra mAh before it eats into the stated battery capacity.
@@TheOriginalhPro , I don't think that is the reason. 2 % drain in 20 minutes test on 14 pro max is impossible. 2% in 20 minutes means 6% in a hour. Will it last 16,6 hours of hard testing ? The answer is NO.

I only use telephoto lens for portraits and I think I like Pro's 3x lens better than Pro Max's 5x. This was my only concern but you guys verified that my intution was right. I always use 90 or 85mm lense for portraits.
15:52 this right here sold me, i go to many concerts and the amount of times i’ve had to stop my video to start a new one because i want to switch from .05x to 2x lenses is so annoying, this means i don’t have to have a heap of cut up videos in my camera roll anymore!!
I like the Titanium but not enough to want to upgrade from the 14PM. The cameras are never a big selling point for me, and, honestly, I don't care enough to look for the barely noticeable improvements; I'm pretty sure most of us don't do a deep dive when it comes to image quality. The difference has to be striking to even care. Happy 1000, btw!
This year definitely seems like one of those "refinement" upgrades. I reckon Apple are gonna do something controversial and extremely different with their iPhone line-up in the coming years and people will look back on the 15 with a lot of fondness for how well it did everything they wanted
Pretty much same as 14 pro from performance to camera. I think they are about to hit a peek. Next two years for android to fully catch up. Mostly qualcomm and mediatek
@@Joske0000 yeah, qualcomm is damn slow in cpu upgrades. But thier gpu upgrades are monsterous, i mean sd 8gen 2 is 2x more powerful than sd 888 in gpu meaning they give 35-50% gpu perfomance upgrades per year. Only if qualcomm keep upgrading thier cpus like thier gpus then they can catch apple in 2 years as u said
I decided to upgrade from the 13pro to 15pro. You go from the notch to the dynamic island, you get usb-c, and action button. Not only that, it’s a “redesign” so it feels like a significant update. Then there’s the new chip and camera upgrades which are nice as well as the trade in value if you choose the easy route with Apple, which i did. Overall upgrading to the 15pro from 13pro or older is well worth it in my eyes.

Over sharpened or not, I actually preferred the look of the 14 Pro photos...side by side they make the 15 Pro photos look blurry. It would be interesting to see how the default sharpening levels for each impact retention of details. Thank you for the nice review by the way!

For me the change in the design with the less sharp edges is enough to go from 14Pro Max to !5 Pro. Also the 14Pro max was too big for me. I like to type one handed, and it was not pleasant on the 14Pro Max. I usually keep my phone for a long time (my last one was a XR), but this time, the small changes and the need to go out of the max size is enough to change... The picture quality on your video was fantastic. Made me upgrade! Thanks for the info and video...cheers.
My iPhone 14 is still very fast. I don’t see enough compelling reason I should get the iPhone 15. When the excitement of “new” wears off, you’ll see it’s just like any other iPhone out there 😅
Merci!
That’s very kind of you
So, far this is definitely the highest quality review of these I've watched, love it.
Darting in and out of the focal lengths was making that green bench jump around
People need to stop watching the bought out TH-camrs. This guy is decent.
I agree even MKBHD didn't do as great a jon

We need a video comparing 15 pro and 15pro max for 3x and 5x modes only.
I'm still deciding if the 5x 120mm is worth it over my initial choice of 15pro.
Also compare screen size and battery consumption for both. Because these are the only differences between the two phones.
You’ll get 2-3 more hours of battery life with the Pro Max
@@MatthewVlossak not a big deal really
The quality of video of iPhone 15 pro max is just incredible and mind blowing!!! Honestly i couldn’t tell the difference of video quality between this video and your other videos shot from professional dedicated cameras as an audience!!!

Ty for the Nice Review.
Yes for sure

Wow, thanks for the detailed and straightforward review. I think it's time to upgrade my phone from the iPhone 11 to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Considering your review, it seems like a great phone with many new features compared to my iPhone 11.
once you have your new iPhone 15, you'll realize that you didnt really NEED to upgrade and you'll see that you use the same apps everyday
My 11 is built like a tank! lol
nice and fitting your 1000th video is for such a great device in its 15th iteration. gread video from a great youtuber for a great device!!
i use 13 pro which i bought back in 2021, used the hell out of it. its at 86% after 2 years.
Tnx you are the 1st person who makes iphone 15s full video ❤❤
The best review of IPhone 15 pro series till the date..I feel the difference between IPhone 14 series and 15 series is minimal as usual..
True
For having a battery OCD I just loved the amount of effort that went in to explain the battery performance here
Love the Casetify cases featured in this video! They are really that great!
And I like this 15 Pro Series review as well!
From minute 3:56 I forgot that it was all shot on an iPhone. Pretty impressive. In the next 3 years we should be somewhere near dedicated cameras
Going from 14 Pro Max to 15 Pro Max. The USB-C switch is enough to change. I’ve been Android since the G1. Switched to iPhone last year. My entire house is USB-C on every charger except 1. Add in all the other little upgrades and it was an easy decision for me. Especially when 14 Pro Max are selling for $850-900 around me
Makes sense then
Cheeper in US
We get screwed over in UK
UK price $1468
14pro FTW. Ive made so much money with it as a film camera for OF and YT. IYKYK lol
My launch 13 pro max is at 97% battery health
It's just luck. You got lucky. Probably had a good bit more than the specified capacity in the 14 and almost exactly the s. capacity in the 13 is my guess. Wireless does play a role, but usually other factors like that outweigh it.
Been using my 14 pro with wireless charging and optimised charging since day 1 and still have 99%
@@Alex-tu5vuluck?😂😂😂my 13 pro max was on 100% when i sold it after a year
And the battery still lasted almost 2 days
I used magsafe as well
The problem is not the magsafe
The problem is that unguys charge ur phone till 100% and let it go under 20%
I always charged my phones in the same way
Basicly random charges through the day never under 20% or over 80%
And all my phone had 100% after a year or a year and a half
Except with the 14 pro
This phone doesnt worth a penny . . .
Its on 90% now and i have around 3 hours battery life fro. 100% to 0%
With this phone i cant do the same thing like i did with the others cause i would get like 1,5~2 hours
So if the 15 pro or pro max has the same or worse battery life then apple should bin them now
My 12 Pro Max’s battery health is still good.
Simply put, upgrading from iPhone 13 Pro Max to the 15 Pro max and will be happy to get the CASETiFY cases for the new phone.
I always buy the accessories and the cases before getting the phone and safely install it all together. I hate having a new phone unprotected from my line of work
@TheTechChap011 Thanks, I once was an android user for decades, and switching to iPhone and iPad made me wish I had done it sooner.
I'm so excited for the 5x lens for pictures and especially for concert videos.
Me too!
The fact you record the whole video with the phone ur reviewing.. Its amazing.. 👏 👏 Always enjoying..
It seems to make more sense to purchase the Pro Max if you have the money for it. Not only do you get more battery, but you also have 2x "optical" zoom. So, moving from 2x to 5x optical zoom is IMO more useful than going from 2x to 3x optical zoom.
Why? 3 x is best for people photo right ?
I have been waiting for your video. No one does better than you.
Your reviews are just awesome and peaceful to understand
The biggest issue with the 15 Pro Max is the huge distance in focal length between the 13mm, 24mm and 120mm focal length equivalents lenses. That’s a pretty terrible range between the 24mm and 120mm lenses, as everything in between is just digital cropping. Not great for photo or video. Would have been better to have a 50mm lens at 48MP and use digital zooming for the rest.
Sarah texting if she can bring you coffee too is the best part about this video too! True love!
The 5x zoom and in between is actually looks good imo
Neither phone honestly seems to completely fall apart when directly comparing their 3x/5x modes, which surprises me. I fully expected the Pro Max to be hot garbage at 3-4.9x, and similarly the Pro to be awful at 5x. Really seems like a matter of preference on which focal range you prioritize, and if you will ever use the extra digital zoom the Pro Max gets, rather than strictly needing to get one or the other if you ever want to get a usable photo out of it's zoom gap.
The pigeon landing on you! Lol. 4:29
@@marcusnz232 There are a few reasons why we get less battery, which is a possible reason, as heat does that.
I’m still using my 13 pro max , I purchased it on launch day almost 2 years ago and the battery life is at 97% , I don’t think I will be upgrading any time soon , zero issues best battery life I’ve ever had in any phone . I do live in the USA and my provider is att and they are offering me 900& trade in for the 15 pro max , I’m just not impressed with the 15 pro 😂
Fantastic review as always! I appreciate the in-depth analysis and side-by-side comparisons. The inclusion of astrology photos of the moon would be a fascinating touch in future videos. It really helps in making an informed decision. Keep up the great work, and I'm eagerly waiting for your next video! 👍📱🎥🌙
Phone moon shots are faked through an overlay of a high quality moon shot - I don't understand why people care about this feature
the smoothness in the video is soo good nice upgrade
I'm upgrading my 12 Pro to a 15 Pro Max. I finally decided that after 3 years it was a worthwhile upgrade over my current phone. The USB C got me over the line.
I'm interested to see that the daily use iPhone 14 Pro was down to 88% and my iPhone 12 is down to 84% but with 2 more years of use. I'm also pretty abusive with my battery, draining it to nothing almost daily and sometimes a couple times over e.g. get it back up to 20% then draining it again.
So you decided to mention you had two phones after it seemed that you had one phone, nice.
That's amazing, I'm from Tunisia and I loved the way you talk, the way you work and I admired your videos, all my support for you, keep going and you're the best ❤❤❤
The recording is good, shows how far smartphones have come tbh. Though I will say I can definitely tell it's an iPhone or a mobile device for that matter since some of the background blur, movement and over sharpening gives it away.
Excellent video, thank you
I'm moderately tempted to upgrade my 13 pro for the 28, 35 and 50mm "lenses" and automatic portrait mode.
Bro that little jump when he zoomed from ultrawide to 5x, is that common in 15 pro??
Wanted to buy the natural color iPhone 15 Pro Max. But after seeing everyone and there grandmother rocking natural grey im glad i got it in black 😃
Returned my iphone 15 pro and first time having a pro max! So far loving the battery and the screen size. Bit heavier but hopefully will get used to it.
Yeah I'm with you on the Pro Max. What I use everyday.
I'm amazed how crisp this video is using the new iPhone 😱😱😱✨🔥
My 13 pro max is at 89% after 2 years but also I’ve heard different about 14 some had bad battery consumption while others had good so it’s also down to use/habits

Nice one by going over the lens flare! Was curious on this, sad that the orbs are not gone completely 😩
Some photographers use flare and orbs as an extra effect on the photo. So this is not necesarily a downside.
@@pistopit7142 I love lens flare, but the alone orb that floats around nonstop has always been annoying for me on the iPhone
Great review as always. Thanks, Tom )
I'm really disappointed with the stability tests. I was hoping Apple would finally add a decent cooling solution this year.
Without fan it's impossible.

The is is right smack in the middle of those 2 phones.
same here
You make the best review videos on youtube. I have watched so many channels but yours is the best.
great video. they sound nice. but i am not a photographer. i will stick with s23 ultra, it is an awesome phone.
so imformative. my iPhone 15 pro max is on the way, so excited.
The most informative IPhone 15 lineup review , so far 👍
Only 1 advise , 9:07 do not test with 100% battery (recommend 99% at least) , and the results will be more accurate.
Good to see you’re still using premiere. Seems like everyone is switching to davinci. This quality can’t touch your Sony rig though. But for a phone it’s great. Ordered one too

Grab an SE and buy a Ricoh for photos or a6700 for video
I only use telephoto lens for portraits and I think I like Pro's 3x lens better than Pro Max's 5x. This was my only concern but you guys verified that my intution was right. I always use 90 or 85mm lense for portraits.
Same here. I love portraits from 2x (48mm) zoom... Sometimes I use 3x, but I can't imagine to use 120 mm lens for portraits. That's too much
@@TranceParadise Why do you take zoomed in portraits? What's the use case?
Sad and stupid to use a lens with such an expensive iPhone, it should already have better equipment
Of course the focal lenght options transfer to the videos, you can junt zoom in to 1.2 or 1.5x, it's the same thing
The iPhone is cheaper in the UK this year because last year the Pound was deeply down compared to its usual value. It’s not exactly a huge win.
Doesn’t hurt!

Apple hasn't had a breakthrough upgrade for a long time now.
Nah next years 16 they already have updated glass with the titanium frame.
That was last year
A great fan from Ghana 🇬🇭 😊
Pretty much same as 14 pro from performance to camera. I think they are about to hit a peek. Next two years for android to fully catch up. Mostly qualcomm and mediatek

Best iPhone 15 review so far!
You didn’t need to update. You’re just insecure and need validation from strangers.
Sure, keep convincing yourself that worth the upgrade haha, rn I have a 12 pro max and I was waiting for 15 to be something better...

I’m also upgrading from a 13-series to 15, the dynamic island will be interesting, and usb-c will be great
What do you guys recommend me? I have an iPhone 7 and I need to upgrade. Should I go for iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Pro?
Over sharpened or not, I actually preferred the look of the 14 Pro photos...side by side they make the 15 Pro photos look blurry. It would be interesting to see how the default sharpening levels for each impact retention of details. Thank you for the nice review by the way!

With the lack lustre performance improvements with the A17 Pro, I thought they would focus on efficiency. But those battery tests say otherwise.

I have a 12 Mini and have ordered the 15 Pro for the much better battery life.
