As a space enthusiastic person i would highly recommend go for dk books you're going to learn a lot and getting so much curious at same time !! Love from india !!
Thank you for introducing me to DK books! I'm homeschooling my daughter for her last two years of high school, starting in a few weeks. The freedom of all of it is exciting but the amount of curriculum is overwhelming. I will be purchasing DK for our home bookshelf :) Thank you again!❤
We love DK books!!! We have a DK anatomy book and love it!!! My older daughter uses it for her pre medical class!!! We are using science chunks next year with books for family science!!! Science chunks uses a lot of DK. Books and we use the ones that work on that topic!!!
Love the format of DK books, with excellent photography on white background. Really stand out. My mom used to sell DK books years ago so I have access to lots of their older collections!! Love the new stuff they have been coming out with too. Have you seen the Where on Earth book? I really like that one.
You got me hooked on DK probably a year ago. 😊 We own a few of those and love them! This year Im also creating our own science units (for the same reason). So, I would love to see how you go about creating a unit and other resources/books you find. Thank you! I dont have a preference of which is first as I will be going through same topics plus I need to do a plant/tree unit with mine sometime over the next year.
Hahaha it’s like a sickness with collecting them isn’t it? They’re such great resources to pull from. Love that you all are doing the same topics! I posted our plant lifecycle one forever ago when I made it and the books we used if you’re needing some inspiration there!
Hey, I'm from Indonesia. I was the one who said that DK books are really cool. But personally, I'm into all sorts of topics from DK. So, I've collected quite a bunch of different and interesting topics for myself.
I think I almost bought that 2nd DK human body book. But went with an usborne one because it was slightly cheaper and more suitable for my daughter's age. But I think I will look into getting that one anyway in a couple years when she is older! I'd love to see any of your unit studies! Would you share them for us to use in our homeschools?
Also, our library just started carrying DK Super Readers....they are non-fiction but leveled readers. Still great DK style but easy enough for early to independent readers. We have really enjoyed them!
We love DK books, too. We love the illustrations, which are very colorful. Just be cautious, especially if you believe young earth, because one of their books mentioned "millions years." Thank you for mentioning thrift books. I have to check it out.
Yes! I’ve put that disclaimer in one of my videos where I shared one of their history timeline books. That portion was disappointing, as well as some of the books they’re promoting on IG, but I love their educational books
I'm using the Dk Human Body as a spine next year too! I'm overwhelmed😩 How do you go about building your unit studies? Do you have a vid for that already???🤔
I have one where I set up our life cycle unit study. I can try to link it if you’d like to see it. Just let me know! I’d first start by asking yourself what do you want them to know? My mind can easily run away from me and this unit study could very easily turn into a one year curriculum 🤣 so I check myself with that and remind myself with the deeper topics can be done in future unit studies. Next would be what type of learning do you want to do? My kids aren’t really for worksheets so I’m planning on a picking up the DK worksheet book just to have and use when needed but we will mostly be learning through hands on activities, videos I find, other reading materials and whatever I pull from this. I’d also ask yourself what fun crafts/activities you can work in. I feel like kids learn the most when it’s fun. I’ll probably find some crafts and food activities to pair with whatever we learn. And last, don’t take yourself too serious! Make it fun and have fun yourself but don’t get stressed. I hope that helps
Honestly, this year has been hectic and I haven’t had a chance to plan our unit studies yet so I haven’t done a deep dive into these books I’m hoping to during the summer and will post a review then!
I'm looking at both of the DK ocean books you showed. The white one (DK Ocean) and the Blue/Greenish one (DK Oceanology). What's the difference between the two? Which one should I pick? They show a young age for the blue one but in the reviews it says it's good for both children and adults. So I have no idea which one to pick. They make it so confusing
I’ll have to go through and look at them but usually, on my experience, DK books are good for all ages and books like these that cover the same topic just do it in different ways.
@@HomegrownHomeschool they are fun to read. There’s a lot of them other ones are 300 facts about animals. They have one on Christmas and Halloween. There is also one on the USA
@HomegrownHomeschool yes dk and Smithsonian are my favorite especially the history and science but I also love dk big ideas simply explained and how it works facts visually explained

Totally agree!

I hope you enjoy them as much as we do
I loved DK books even before I had a kid and started homeschooling. They are amazing!
They really are ❤️

Ohhhh I haven’t heard of science chunks! I’ll have to look into that one
I have added a few of these books to my wishlist! I’d love to see the ocean unit first.
Ohhhh good choice!

Very detailed and beautiful illustrations in your books.
Thank you ❤️ science is the best!
I had the Space, Human Body Knowledge Encyclopedia and Ocean Visual Encyclopedia
I love DK, we're doing something similar this year for science also! Love this video ❤
Thank you ❤️

A unit on the ocean, please! Thanks for the great content!
💕
You said it- you could easily use one of the DK books as a full curriculum. 🌻
Yes!
Please, what's the main difference between the Oceonalogy and The Ocean book? Which one is the best to buy first?
Honestly, this year has been hectic and I haven’t had a chance to plan our unit studies yet so I haven’t done a deep dive into these books I’m hoping to during the summer and will post a review then!

Try the National Geographic weird but true books. There is a human body book. It is 300 facts about the human body and it contains nice pictures
Oh cool, thank you! I’ve never heard of them. I’ll have to check it out
