  • This is my 2020 pajero sport. I’m taking you through the installation of a rhino rack pioneer platform system with backbone sides. The 2020 pajero sport has the extra fun at the back so I show you how to install the platform around the fin.
    Tools used are:
    13mm ratchet spanner from gearwrench
    10mm universal spanner from bahco
    Milwaukee impact driver
    Little giants king kombo ladder
    Total time for the installation was 1.5hrs.
    Leave you questions, recommendations or comments in the comment section.

    Nice, pretty easy installation. Not bad the Rhino, got my eye on the new ARB base rack system, real low profile which is what I like.

    Hi mate great video. Today I went to purchase this set up, however rhino racks are apparently redesigning the backbone system for this model due to them ripping off from the mounting plates. (New design apparently will use all the mounting points on the vehicle)
    My question is if you have any issues to date with this set up. TIA

    Thanks for video mate. Really helpful,wonder if this will also the same procedure of installing at PS 2018?One of the 4wd shop here local said they need to drill? Now I’m confused I really wanted to put one on my mod. Thanks heaps again

    • @AddictedtoTools
      @AddictedtoTools  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. I’m glad it helped. The 2018 PS is the same as the new model from what I understand. The only difference is that they didn’t have the aerial tail at the back so it fits better. Don’t go drilling. I got told by one place that they had to drill. Didn’t want to do that with a new car, so I took it to ARB which is a 4x4 company here in aus. They called rhino rack and confirmed that it didn’t need drilling. I would at least email rhino rack to confirm. Also let me know if you get a rack and if you had to drill. Cheers.

    Fyi information about the load rating. I don't know if the 2020 is better, but my 2016 PS has a roof load rating of only 80kgs. Take the weight of the tray and backbone off, you are left with around the 50kg mark. Apply the off road reduction for going anywhere off bitumen, you reduce that by another third, so about 32 kg. This has been recently highlighted by youtubers Ronny Dahl and Tyler Thompson

    • @AddictedtoTools
      @AddictedtoTools  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks mate. I have looked at this since. I may have seen the same videos.

    • @ferguson011
      @ferguson011 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      At least the backbones of the PS are not pop rivetted on so if you don't exceed the load rating I don't think the issues they had will be the same. I saw their videos and still went ahead with the Rhino Rack based purely on the method of installation. I also do not suffer the apparent wind noise problem a number of others have complained about. So far so good.

    • @fifis101
      @fifis101 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a shame they put such rediculiously low roof load rating on it. 100kg evenly spread over a rack like that would be completely fine in my books.

    Hey bro, each to their own no hate but just curious why you choose this rhino rack backbone system with a shitty de-rated off road rating of 33-34kg on top vs something similar like a Wedgetail with no de-rating off road and a little bit cheap with bigger platform? Good content though 👌

    Warning, checkout the off road load rating of these..most people are unaware you lose 33% of load rating as soon as you leave sealed road. On Pajero Sport that leaves you with only around 40 kg….the rack itself is 25 kg

    • @secfeed6987
      @secfeed6987 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pajero Sport 2020-21 , max roof load of 80kg. So with a 25kg roof rack, you have 55kg to play with. It's actually probably less if your taking that offroad so to be safe you wouldn't be loading much up there. You really need the roof rack to be as light and strong as possible to make it worth while.

    • @StopTimeToEnjoy
      @StopTimeToEnjoy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@secfeed6987 not really dude, fine print on this rhino system for Pajero Sport suggest it's only 33-34kg depending on rack and ONCE it hits dirt road/sand or mild offroad to get to certain destination, that leaves you with just an awning and 4 maxtracs/tiny items.
      Eg. 1 - family of 5 and you put a decent tent that won't fit in the boot like an oztent rx5 that needs to be carried on the roof, you won't be able to with the dangers of it ripping off.
      Eg. 2 - let's say you love touring and get out to your destination and like to explore by off roading, with this system on a Pajero Sport that only has 68L of fuel you can't even get 2 fuel jerry cans up there and only limited to 1 and if you do bring one, say goodbye to an awning because youre classed as over weight with a fuel jerry can and an awning that together Exceeds (no pun intended) past it's off road rating of 33-34kg.

    • @JT-jy2sy
      @JT-jy2sy ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StopTimeToEnjoy yep 33kg and given the price. Not great! What is worst they do not make this off-road rating ready available.
