Searched the Net for info on mixing skintones. Yours was streets ahead of the (many) others. Clear explanations applicable to any portrait. Thank you so much!
This was an extremely informative lesson on skin tone. Not only did you show how to mix virtually any skin color from the primaries, but you also went into detail about skin texture and how it will affect the choice of pigments. Thank you for another great video!
You must have been reading my mind Michele, as this subject was going to be my question in your "Ask Me Anything" FB post yesterday 😅 Thank you for the excellent information and advice. Next time I am digging up zombies I will think of you fondly 🤣 😍 Take care of yourself. ❤️ A xxx
This was a very helpful video as I thought just the opposite about blues as far as warmth! Faces are not my favorite but I have several paintings I must finish and this will help a lot.
Mixing neutral colors has been my biggest challenge. Thank you so much for this. I don't do a lot of faces but this will help me a lot for other things.
Hi. Funny coincidence, I have just today experimented a bit with skintones. Used a mix of raw sienna, magenta and cerelean blue. Liked the result. Now I will have a look at your tips (started writing this at the beginning of the vid). Also joined your facebook group today, being a long time follower of your youtube channel thought it was about time.
Well this is definitely a great help for me to learn how to mix up colors for skin tones. I need to take some practice time to mix skin tones. I have been using Titanium Buff & adding some Lemon Yellow, Quinacrine Rose, Burt Sienna, depending on the the skin tones I am looking for.
This video is very helpful, very useful indeed. I learned a lot. I love mixing colours and looking for the "right" tone, so I enjoyed these explanations very much. I am working on self portrait and portrait drawing at the moment, so that 's fiiiiine for me!!!!! Big THANK YOU Michelle !!!
Thank you! Will do. I tend not to do many portraits in my own work, but I like symbolic images: Statues, Geisha, Day of the dead make up, Venetian costume wearers etc
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber I don't do many portraits either but want to do one of my son when he visited the Sahara desert soon to give him for Christmas. So your skin tone mixing is really timely for me.
Skin tone is such a huge subject! As soon as I think about it, my head explodes. Of course there’s also glazing, charging techniques, and level of opacity that drive the subject even deeper.. and let’s not forget the power environment has over hues, which could change a skin tone drastically… phew, such a challenging topic to cover 😖
I love that you stated that you're vegan. It can be challenging to find cruelty free art supplies, Daniel Smith and Winsor Newton are my two favorite brands.
i like and subscribed after watching several videos . i like your style in both painting and philosophy . plus you are very beautiful , i like your accent but its a little fast for me being from USA. the skin tone mixing video was difficult for me because iam new to watercolor. However i will not give up on watercolor.
Correct skin tones are always darker than you think you need! I think it's because there's no other values around it. Once you put in clothes, hair, background, the skin might even need darkening.
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber Michelle, you know my comment isn't for you, right? I know you already know that and know way more about watercolor than I do 😘 My comments usually are to hopefully help other noob artists that struggle.

Thank you for the advice about using a viewfinder! Also, relying on split primary colors instead of premixed colors is really helpful.

No wonder not many people do portraits, it’s way more complicated to think about and plan than anything else to paint.
