    1. Become aware of what you're feeling physically
    2. Ignore your thoughts and focus on the feeling
    3. Allow it to be there; surrender to it
    Feeling is not the source of your problem, the desire to push and let go itself is pain.
    Let yourself feel it; just forgive yourself for feeling it radically.
    Step one; release your grip, let gravity to do everything else.

    I had an epiphany yesterday! At almost 58 years old, I think I am FINALLY getting it. I have been resisting, kicking, fighting and avoiding all painful feelings to cope, to stay sane. As a child, I had to do this to survive. I just never stopped. I am going through a very painful situation right now (grief/sadness) for the past several months and can’t let go. I’m up in my head, thinking and thinking and pushing the feelings to avoid feeling them. And I’m stuck. I can’t get out of them. I think I finally after all these years (and your video) get it. I see that I also did this with anxiety as well. Pushing scaring thoughts out to avoid the scary feelings. Avoiding anxiety resulted in 45 years of agoraphobia! I feel ready to finally welcome all my feelings and let them pass through me. I have a feeling my agoraphobia isn’t going to be an issue for much longer in my life. It was a wake up call when you mentioned avoiding feelings is self-abandonment and creates disconnection inside. This is mindblowing for me. THANK YOU

    Brilliant explanation! I also practice "allowing", as in allowing feelings to arise and move on with no judgement, no analysis, and no attachment.

      @andrewvanhoff  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely! It's interesting to note that even getting to that non judgmental state takes a bit of letting go practice for most people, simply because we're so conditioned to shove our "unacceptable" parts out of view - not only from others but also from ourselves.

    Almost finishing this book! Before that I have read Power vs Force and other spiritual books. As Vipassana and other meditation techniques practitioner, this book really helped me understand more about the theories behind these techniques and made me a better person (higher consciousness level, more love and happiness). Big fan of Dr Hawkins

    This does not work at all if the source of your feelings, i.e., anxiety, panic, and all the accompanying physical sensations of tachycardia, shaking, and intrusive looping thoughts send you into overwhelm. I would love to know how to deal with that. What Andrew describes here works great if your sympathetic and parasympathetic systems are in balance. What if they are not? How do you save yourself then? ( I am referring to dysregulation of your CNS caused by something like Benzo damage or another chemical brain imbalance where you do not even have control of your own mind to be able TO let go)

    Question- I know you say to ignore thoughts and just feel but how do you experience it without thinking about it? Usually I find picturing the scene, repeating a word or phrase or even naming the feeling ( such as shame or grief) can summon the feeling. But that is technically thinking about it, right? Any feedback is soooo appreciated ❤️❤️❤️

    Does this have the same benefits of inner child healing ?

    • @andrewvanhoff
      @andrewvanhoff  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes! Letting go and inner child healing are both forms of "shadow work", which focuses on becoming aware of your subconscious behavioral patterns and the parts of yourself that you've sort of been rejecting and neglecting. So they're slightly different ways of approaching the same problem.

    Also quick question: when you surrender to the feeling - it’s the physical feeling in the body that you are surrendering to right? Not the emotion!

    • @andrewvanhoff
      @andrewvanhoff  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      In my experience, there's an underlying physical sensation or energetic "feeling" that underlies most emotions. So an emotion is more of the "expression" of the feeling - if that makes sense. If you FEEL like crying, the "crying" might be the emotion, but the underlying feeling might be sadness, right?
      My suggestion is to narrow in on the "feeling", whether that's an energetic sensation or a physical tightness. The emotions as expressions are certainly worth noticing! But they're probably symptomatic of the underlying feeling. So in surrendering to your feeling, in a sense you're ALSO surrendering to the associated emotions, but the feeling is the root. That's how I look at it, anyway!

    Basically we are to be more "feminine".

    • @andrewvanhoff
      @andrewvanhoff  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Well it depends on how you define masculine and feminine. (And indeed also whether you see them as opposites or not)
      If you describe masculine as bottling up your emotions, self medicating with alcohol, engaging in self destructive behavior and becoming angry and violent when they can't control everything that happens, then yes. We need to be more "feminine".
      If you describe masculine as the ability to deal with reality, accept things as they are, not be afraid of their own shadow, and by healing ourselves be able to be a pillar of strength, support and understanding for others, then no. You don't need to be more "feminine".
      What we need to be is real people. People who are okay with ourselves, can cope with reality, and aren't so stuck in fear and avoidance that we destroy not only ourselves, but the environment and world we live in.
